Making its grand debut after restoration, Beaver Valley Traction was immediately put to work clearing the museum's trolley line for the 2015 Winterfest.
Nice . Is this car made for sweeping snow or is it for sweeping ballast? Don't see why there would ever be a need to sweep snow off tracks except maybe to see the switches are set correctly.
The car was made to sweep snow. Most streetcar companies were required to keep the street clear for the width of the tracks, plus 18-24 in. on either side.
Great video, and a wonderful restoration job by PTM!
Great restoration job! Ask Bruce if he remembers when we coupled three sweepers together with tow bars and ran them in an "all broom train?"
Bruce remembers. We inherited the film from the Estate of Richard T. Lane.
I love sweeper cars...
Love it! I had no idea that any of these things were restored to operating condition.
very cool, great video
Back in the days when they didn't need salt to ruin the tracks.
