  • The Razer Leviathan V2 wants to be one of the best gaming sound bars in 2022 and it better be with a price of $250. But against the Sound Blaster Katana V2 and other competitors, it falls short in a few very important areas.

I like the video and your thoughts, but for the few people that only will use that soundbar with a pc, i thinks, this is more of a personal opinion video than a review, you have talk almost nothing about sound quality or how to 2 effect is, or if it is compatible with dolby atmos or whathever, I think it lacks content. But i like it, is something I didnt think about it, still you dont make clear if it is good or better than the panasonic soundslayer or the katana, I would love a comparison on copact soundbars, thanks

That's kind of a shame. The original Leviathan interested me when I was looking for computer speakers but I never found one at a reasonable price. This new one being USB only is a let down because while I have no shortage of USB ports on my computer, I also have a dedicated sound card that I like to route everything through both for quality and greater control of my sound.
Of course I've always had mixed results with Razer's audio equipment in general so I guess this doesn't surprise me TOO much.

Despite all the videos doubting this speaker, I decided to buy one and try it out on my own. Let me just say this: this thing is worth the price. I had tried thousands-dollars speakers, Leviathan v2 blows my mind at this price point. If you want a speaker that’s compact and can immerse you into your games, this is the one. It completely beats G560, which I had to return because of the static issues.

Thanks for the review as I don't need to spend time purchasing and trying for myself. I'll stick to the Beam.

I watched this and realised everything that was called out as a downside didn't really matter to me. It sits right in front of me, plugged into my PC. Razer Synapse works flawlessly for me, I had an old pair of speakers before this and moved to this. It's incredible, I absolutely love it. Don't care about a remote, maybe it matters to you, I think it's preference. I'm glad I still bought it so if you're in the same situation as me, go for it it doesn't disappoint.

    • @user-vk1zz1cj5x

Hello mate! Is your Leviathan still gives you joy? I don't care for remote or lack of connectivety. As of my main sound source for PC is Stealseries Arctis Pro Wireless headset. But my wife want to use speakers while playing. Bought her some simple 2.1 set few years ago for her needs but as of now i'm making some full scale repairs on our new appartment (for a freaking 14 months! But the finishing line are in sight, hope i'll get there till the end of may) and after we move there she wants to hook up those speakers to my beautiful monster of a PC. Can't allow that! Yeah i know, it's just an esthetic issue, but still, i want to keep it clean and worthy so i could use t myself from time to time without diying inside.
So i was looking at this Leviathan V2 speakers and they are pretty good looking and as i understand, gives you a good sound quality. So there's the question is there a point in throwing +50% cash for Katana V2 or this speakers would suffice?
Sorry for such big comment, guess deep down i'm a bit lonely xD

I had an original Razer Leviathan sound bar and needed an upgrade. I watched your review on the Logitech G560 speakers and decided to upgrade to them instead of the new Razer Leviathan because i did not like that they did away with the 3.5mm sound jack (not sure why companies keep doing that). The G560's have been a nightmare. Awful software/driver problems, awful volume control and i am constantly turning them up and down for every video. The EQ settings need constant adjustment because once you dial them in to sound good on a particular song, they sound awful on another...etc etc.....the complaint list is huge. My super old Razer Leviathan was plug and play the entire time i had it. It had great sound control and once dialed in it sounded great on everything i watched from normal videos, games, movies, music etc etc. Now i look below and find out you overlooked an entire way to hook it up and bashed them relentlessly for an entire video. Your reviews are not to be trusted and very misleading.

I’m quite a huge Razer fan that I actually pulled the trigger on these, however, I found myself having a huge buyer remorse, ended up refunding it because of the removal of AUX/Optical port, all that before even receiving the product itself just solely because of that, it’s such a pity as these would have been an excellent upgrade to my Leviathan V1 (7 year and still strong btw).
To be fair, I would have gotten it without any regret if just the 3.5mm port is still there, the removal of it feels like a huge step backwards since you could only use it on certain device, the funny thing is that, the removal of those ports doesn’t make it any more aesthetic pleasing either which imo, just a big silly mistake on Razer end.
That said, I’ll wait for the Leviathan V1 to break down before deciding again if I should even get these just to power everything via Chroma or it might just be time to skip on Razer and make a switch to other brands.

Well i guess it's a fine product for me then because i don't see those lacking features as features tbh ...i've had only a couple speakers in my setups and both had headphone jack, never used them, maybe optical port would've been fine but everything is USB now so i don't bother, also mic ...not sure about that one ...i don't mind not having a remote either, i got so many of all devices that i hate it, i even normally use my phone to control my Apple TV for example, it's easier to just pick it out of my pocket than look everywhere for the remote. I do agree on the 2 apps, that's bothersome, but not much. And about the comment on bluetooth vs USB, maybe you forgot to consider about using it on multiple devices, always plugged to the PC but being able to use it on my phone is nice, and the source switch button comes handy.
Now on the Razer Synapse thing ...oh *shivers* that one is absolutely hot garbage. I don't know who they hired to write that thing but it's utterly terrible. I have a couple Razer peripherals and guess what, when they are failing, it's always Synapse. I have the Nari and use them for both gaming and job calls, i had many complaints about me sounding robotic or cutting out, after investigating a lot, it turned out that one of the "enhancements" for the microphone in Synapse was the issue ...turned that thing off and never had the problem again.
They still have much work to do on the software side but their hardware hasn't disappointed me yet. Nice review, got the points i was looking for.

Yep. Never had any issues with any of the Razer gear I've had either. The only main hiccup I had was with my Huntsman Mini causing a boot conflict that would freeze my taskbar from starting, and that was easily found to be a firmware update issue. It was a known problem and once I updated the firmware on my keyboard, everything was fine. This is one of the first vids of theirs I've had to dislike because he spent so much time bitching about the things he didn't like about it while going into just a small section with how it sounded.

Why did they even bother adding RGB when they remove important features like AUX??? Like no optical sure, but NO AUX??? I have no reason to upgrade from my Leviathan v1, I might as well get the Katana v2 if I really wanted an upgrade. Synapse has been buggy af in my previous experience. They made it so complex when they could have just kept the Leviathan v2 simple and good as a pure listening experience.

When looking from a product development standpoint some of the decisions razor has made make a lot of sense.
    - HDMI needs to be licenced, which is an expensive process, not even starting with earc and the specific drivers and chips (global shortage of those) that are needed for hdmi support.
    - To continue on the chip issue it makes sense that they have dropped the analog input and used only digital.
    - That does not give an excuse for the lack of optical though. Most DSP chips can interface directly with optical and digital i2s standards

@@zebedeesummers4413 not with the current chip issues. A standard rule of thumb is that your product production price should be 1/5th of the sales price. This puts the product at around 50 dollars. That would give you no more than 8 dollars for the PCB and components. Having the option to lose a few chips here and there is major when talking about these low prices.

Dear god... Razer managed to screw up v1, which was a decent soundbar/woofer combo that imo had only two issues: No remote control and auto power off feature after 30 minutes of no sound (why in the hell would you need this option on speakers that plug into a power outlet?!). These two issues rendered Leviathan v1 unpractical for use with TV and changes they introduced with v2 cemented this. To remove all the sound input options was exceptionally stupid no matter how you put it... but hey, they did add RGB, so $50 price increase is totally justified!! XD
I can't but wonder if this... thing... still have auto power off feature? As they seemingly did their best to make this the worst speakers set ever, I'm quite sure it has... Too bad user might miss important business call on skype because he was not at his computer when call came in, and Leviathan just decided to turn off automatically... :D
