The reason why Qorin wanted Jon and him to fight is to deceive the Wildlings into thinking that Jon is sympathetic to their cause. Plus, Qorin knew that if he were to be brought back to the Wildling camp, heâll die slowly; whereas, Jon can kill him quickly and honorably.

Here's a fun fact that I hadn't considered until reading someone else's comment: the reason Tywin enters the throne room on a horse is likely so that he isn't required to bend the knee to Joffrey like everyone else. Baller move.
And he's up on his high horse looking down at the people beneath him.
Also his horse shit on the throne room, implying that for him the ceremony is just a farce. He is the real power.
Qhorin also tells Jon that they will torture him slowly to death because Qhorin is a legend among the wildlings due to him killing a ton. Jon helped spare Qhorin that fate.
Was just gonna mention that. Two birds with one stone. Saved himself a gruesome death and gave Jon a chance.
They hinted at Jaquen changing his face in season 1. It was during that scene with Viserys talking to that one girl in the bath. She said she has seen things, she's seen a man that could change his face the way that others change their clothes.

And yes, the horse pooping was real. Accidental but very real as was almost everything you see in the entire series of GoT.
Remember their budget wasnât that much the first couple seasons. CGI developed over the years along with the budget. Additionally much of what you see is handmade, many of the extras are staff and/or family members throughout series.

Its fun watching you go through this journey. It only gets better. Watching this as it came out was torture at times when you finished a season and then had to wait a year to year and a half for the next season

@@Rash23215 the whole work is âmedieval fantasyâ, so⊠weâre talking about the âmedievalâ part, of course. There are entire storylines inspired directly from historical events. I would have thought it quite obvious.
Legally, a verbal contract is binding now. You have to prove you had a verbal contract, but I don't think that would be a problem here. Also, I'm not entirely sure Robb didn't have to sign the terms that were sent to him by Walder Frey before he was allowed to cross the bridge.
Especially in the North. You give your word on something, you better carry through with it. So there could be problems for breaking his oath to Frey

Fun fact: the horse shit shot wasnât planned. It just happened when they started the shot, and decided to go with it because it just fits Tywin Lannister.
In the book the horse shits when Jeoffry goes to approach Tywin to congratulate him.
It also shows that while Joffrey may be king itâs Tywin who is running the show. He rides in and his horse shits on Joffreyâs throne room.

This is how the White Walkers were supposed to look in the first episode, but the showâs budget wasnât anywhere near where it gets throughout the showâs run. Youâll be amazed by how incredible the visuals get starting next season!

The one thing you can always appreciate with this show is the cgi/editing and quality , it truly gets better each season and you can absolutely tell the budget increased.
As Tywin made his memorable departure from the throne room, when Joffrey called to Little-finger, I so wanted him to say 'Lord Baelish? Fetch a shovel from the stables.' That would have made my day.
Jaime is such a celebrity he can't travel incognito after months in a cage, wearing basically rags, with shaggy hair that has darkened from lack of the sun (let's just say that's why) and a beard no one has ever seen him in before.
It's a show like no other.
There are so many plot lines. GRR Martin is a genius storyteller.
It's fun to watch you two Children of Summer experience this. You are lucky; we had to wait a minimum of a year between seasons.

It's hilarious how Loras, Margaery, Joffrey, Cersei, and Pycelle are just saying lines from a script that is already agreed to. Margaery almost makes you believe she could love Joffrey from afar (the audience who doesn't know Joffrey can believe it), but Joffrey's line readings are so stilted. Oh, but I am promised to another. It's just so funny for a minute.
I was told the council pretty much went over this at a meeting and told him what to say for theatrical purposes. Its like they have to put on a show for the people at court lol... Idk how true it it because I didn't read the books but the was Joffery said his lines make it believable.
Itâs funny that as stupid as Joffrey is he did agree to a marriage for political reasons while Rob marries for love and ignores the political marriage he agreed to.

But the wildlings would never believe that an old Crow like him would turn traitor. But they might buy that a newbie like Jon would betray the watch. So Half Hand accuses Jon of being a traitor and fights him to give Snow street cred with the windings. And his final words to Jon âwe are the watchers on the wallâ are to remind Snow heâs still a man of the Night Watch even if heâs pretending to be a turncoat

In the books, the White walkers speaking is described as sounding like the cracking of ice. I imagine hearing that would make your skin crawl.

loved the three blasts first time; my late father wasn't really into DnD stuff or this type of fantasy but he got into it with me and the three blasts got him all goose bumpy, it was awesome.
In the book, half of Tyrion's nose was cut off. I love how Shae was so caring and loving him despite this disfigurement.
One thing I love about the books and the show is that they're all told from different points of view. Descriptions of things and events are somewhat different based on who is telling the story. So making a change like that in the show totally fits in with the spirit of the books - it could be that book Tyrion believes he was horribly disfigured, while others think the damage isn't so bad.

My first watch of GoT was a mega binge...I started watching after the last season began and finished with everyone else! So probably missed a lot the first time around...but now watching it through again with you and other reactors, I am really starting to notice that one of the most central themes of the story is Motherhood. There are those that choose to be mothers, those who choose not to and those who have no choice...as well as all the things that motherhood brings... đ€
So finally there is no Stark in Winterfell after 1000s of years,and show begins! Music when Hodor,Bran,Osha and Rickon clim that hill is pure chills!

The wildlings are gathering an army to march south to get AWAY from the white walkers. But the nights watch are sworn to protect the south from the wildings. But since the nights watch are so ignorant to the fact that the white walkers are coming, they won't let the wildings through.
Let's not discount that Ned and Catelyn loved each other. We saw that. They were in an arranged marriage but no one can force you to love someone.
Catelyn and Ned grew to love each other. Robb and Talisa could go the other way. But Robb criticizes Catelyn for letting love for her daughters (his sisters, mind) blind her to the political necessities of war (when, actually, Jaime would have been dead by morning if she hadn't gotten him out of the camp in some way), but he puts his love for Talisa above the political realities of fighting this war and above his love for his sisters, as he has done nothing to get Sansa and Arya back. It's interesting. He also agreed to the terms, so you know what Ned would have done in his place (talking about the show). I hate to argue for the unromantic side of things, but it's another way to look at it.

Tywin rode the horse in the throne room so he wouldn't have to bow to Joffrey. Don't worry, its a GREAT thing that Sansa is not marrying Joffrey. Cersei and Margaery did her a favor even if it was for personal gain and not for the benefit of Sansa.

@1HalfbloodPrince it was way more convoluted and complicated in the books than I can explain but basically the freys used a family decended from witches to help trick rob after he had been wounded in battle to falling in love with Talissa( which wasn't her name in the books) and then once she had gotten pregnant Rob felt a sense of duty and married her. Thus causing the butterfly effect to occur.

The creature on the horse was a White Walker. The rest of the zombie-like creatures are not White Walkers, theyâre just re-animated corpses raised by the White Walkers as soldiers in their army. Theyâre not sentient beings like the White Walkers are.
In the book, Tyrion gets his entire NOSE cut off.
I guess the show figured that would be too much makeup or CGI to take off his nose (and Dinklage refused to really cut his nose off).

It's interesting a lot of people don't gleen that the dragons and Khaleesi's chains are magic upon first viewing.... and that the warlocks death causes the breaking of the magic which dissolves the chains.
FYI, the icee looking creatures on the dead horses are the White Walkers. The ones walking who look like zombies are the dead re-animated by the White Walkers and are called Wights.

If you look at the white walker, its steaming, the weather is hot to it, that is why they cant go south, because they would burn up, even this weather is hot to one, as winter comes, so do they.
Jamie is arrogant, simply because he really is the best swordsman, and no one has ever beat him. He has more honor than most, and this is why it pissed him off so badly that Ned was wounded by a Goldcloak, because Ned was supposedly the most honorable man in the 7 Kingdoms. Sure, he's an ass, but it's only because he can actually backup his shit talking. He was annoying Brienne because he wanted her to slip up and attempt to kill him, so he could escape, but she was honor bound to complete her task, which though he hasn't admitted it, he respects her for this. Then when he witnesses her killing the Stark men, he now knows she isn't playing pretend, that she too keeps word, like him.
