I just have to stop the car to listen 💔 my wife is gone to heaven 6 years ago...i love her now more than ever did...
Joseph, it's cliche to say, But You WERE soooo blessed, to have loved and be loved back - I grew up with no love 🙏 God's Blessings Are On You Every Day ❤....
…she is an angel, a true gift from heaven…
bless you
The same, 14 years ago. 😭
My heart is sad for you. I’m sorry for such a great loss❤️
I cry when here this song. My wife lost her battle with cancer age 30.
There is not day goes by and it's has been 11 years since I don't think about her.
I can feel your loss. I STILL MISS HER,,,,
I can understand how much you love your spouse. I hope your sadness eases a little.
I was moved to tears but, in a good way. I lost my brother July 2017, my father March 2018 and my best friend of 34 years August 2018. There are many forms of love besides romantic. This music touched my soul. I have been too busy taking care of my family after all of the tragedies that I never really got to feel the loss so a sincere thank you for sharing. I really needed to feel these emotions.
I understand about the need to feel the emotions having been there myself. Sending you tender condolences, much love and many blessings.
Try finding her song Fields of Gold it is beautiful you can also so find in with Mikical Bolton
So sorry for your losses. Hope you can feel better soon. xx
Blessings and love to you - I so know how important it is to feel emotions, and how difficult it can be to find the time for that! Opportunities like this recording are a balm 🍁❤️
❤️
Her tone, her phrasing, her crescendos, her oh so perfect notes held in mid-air that feel as though God speaks through her. This woman possessed a voice unequaled or unsurpassed anywhere or any when! Her talent ended way too soon but these recordings are a testimony to the proof that she lived among us and the world should be grateful of that. Sorry, her voice never fails to bring my waterfalls out.
👌✌👋
@@eduardgevorgyan3315 I am crying as I listen to this. Such beautiful melancholy.
“Perfect” is not adequate to describe her voice and talent.
Hearing her sing always brings tears to my eyes, but they are good tears
What an accurate comment! Her voice was definitely an angelic voice, out of this world!
This is by far the best version ever made of this song.
I agree. Eva changed some of the notes and made the song even better in my opinion, as she did every song she sang.
No it isn’t, actually. Eva’s original acoustic version of this is… years after she passed away the orchestra was added to the original, which was performed live on January 3rd 1996 at the Blues Ally Jazz Club. Please look it up here and be amazed.
I like the live acoustic version better. This version buries her guitar under tons of orchestration. Her guitar was an important part of all her songs, it was like an extension of her voice. She obviously put a lot of thought and effort into her playing. And to be able to sing like that while playing a melody on an instrument is pretty amazing.
@@robham7752 It doesn't just bury her guitar: I listened to the first several lines of the song, cutting back and forth between the acoustic and the orchestrated versions, and it's appalling how the orchestra undercuts Eva's vocal phrasing. Buried, hell -- swamped is more like it.
Drain the swamp! If anyone out there hasn't heard the acoustic version, do yourself a favor: here it is. czcams.com/video/xXBNlApwh0c/video.html
I totally totally totally agree. thank you for saying so and posting it HERE!! Tons of appreciation for this and Eva. Good God Women, where ever you are God Bless your heart and soul FOREVER!! what a gift you've given Us,All!!
NOw the tears start. wow. whew. thank you!!
This is the voice that never dies. God bless her soul. What an angelic voice.
her voice is as golden as the falling leaves. such a beautiful lady. 🙏
A beautiful soul indeed.
Not only did she have a voice like an angel; her phrasing and musical fluidity were creative perfection. Eva proves that while most singers also have to also be songwriters to get noticed, every once in a while, along comes an interpreter whose stamp is so indelible that the song becomes theirs forever. Eva did it with Autumn Leaves, Over the Rainbow, Time After Time, and so many others.
⚜🕊🙏🕊⚜
You described it perfectly. Way to seldom phrasing is mentioned but it is what makes great singers great. Few examples: Tony Bennett, Daryl Hall, Luther Vandross, B. Streisand etc.
I agree ❤
Eva has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. Hands down. Rest in Peace, Angel.
Smiles, absolutely beautiful Cindy, feels really great listening, how are you doing? 🌺 😊
I honestly don't know why this doesn't already have over a million hits.
This is PURE GOLD. Absolutely MAGIC.
Long live the memory of the incredible Eva Cassidy.
Me thinks that we can thank radio. More importantly, those that own and control radio. Take good care and share with everyone.
I listen to this song by at least 20 singers, and nobody express the truth of oneself like Eva does. Just amazing singer. I think she sold million in England, American people don't understand how good she is.
Ja hon är en underbar sångerska och trubadur!
Such a pure and beautiful voice enhanced by the London Symphony Orchestra. Simply stunning. Listen to Tall trees in Georgia, a song she knew as a child. It will blow you away.
Go to the original video of Eva on her guitar with a piano backing and you will know why this version with the orchestra compares so poorly. The original has many millions of hits.
Oh, God. I'm an old man and in tears as I listen to this incredible woman.
❤️ That tells me you are a good and warm hearted person. 🙂 She was incredibly. I'm in tears every time I listen to her beautiful voice. All my best from Germany
Will you merry me??! 😄
Me too.
Fargoguy54 I’m 71; the soul does not age and keeps the heart young if we do the right living. I remember early versions of this many decades ago, it’s a haunting classic and will live on and be reinterpreted many times, don’t you think?
Yesss!!
I cannot listen to this without weeping. She is irreplaceable.
so true...
One of the greatest singers to ever live. Her voice is so perfect it literally sounds like an instrument.
Me too.
This is the voice of Gods...
Geoffrey Evans Well said. Totally agree.
I just found Eva for the 1st time last night. I've been listening to her for 12 hours straight and am not done yet. What a tremendous talent she was. I'm so sorry that she is gone from us.....much too soon. Eva, where ever you are, I send you my love and appreciation for sharing yourself with us.
Susan K - You can be sure she's in Heaven leading the angel choir in her pure, brilliant, beautiful way. She fits right in - she was an angel on earth, as she is still in Heaven. ♥
Me too. 2 years behind you... :) She's just incredible.
So glad I found Eva before I left this earth. She's with the angels now. Rest in peace Eva.
Just found her 2 nights ago and I’m far from where you’re at but I’m going to catch up. So hauntingly beautiful. Just brings tears to my eyes.
I was living & working in Glasgow Scotland 1999 - 2001..I heard her whilst driving home with BLACK CAB, I asked the cabbie, who is this beautiful voice...he just said "aye" "EVA".. I've been listening over 20 yrs..I still "go there" she is lovely, bless her & bless the group that got her music out to us all after she passed so young.
We are so proud of this Giant who grew up right outside of DC,
A child of Bowie that I never knew but have listened to about 10 hours a year. Brings me back to the reality of what life ought to be.
I am embarrassed to admit I just found Eva's music. I am now obsessed and have listened to nothing else since. Thank you for The Best of Eva Cassidy playlist. I feel blessed to have found her magical music which will now enrich my life forever.
Better late than never, right? The voice of an angel.
LOL! Usually I'm one to discover something very late. I'm very happy for you though.
Enjoy such wonderful Eva.....taken from us to soon God called her.....
theres many more songs to treasure than this list
I didn't find her either until YEARS after she was gone. I was SURPRISED she had SO MANY ALBUMS and almost unheard of. All I can say is, I'm GLAD to have found her and SHE is my #1 favorite female singer, and I'm picky!! She's a RARE gem!!
My husband has been in heaven a year and this song so describes him to the “T”. His beautiful smile, his sunburned hands that reflected how hard he worked all day. Soon autumn leaves will fall and a month from now our anniversary will roll around and I miss him all the time, everyday. Thank you for putting this song out. ❤️
can you write the poetry
I know it must hurt ,more deeply at some times than others, but WOW...how blessed you both were to have had each other like this Miriam. BLessings to you both...they're only a heart beat away and da thought away,as well.
Welcome in to Autumn Beauty. Gawd do I Love love love this time of year. Respect. Keith
@Angel Bulldog Thank you for your comforting words and prayers. I still expect him then realize he’s not here any longer. ♥️
@Angel Bulldog His shoes are very difficult to fill. For a man who was raised without a father, he was the perfect father and being raised with only a mother I guess made him the most wonderful husband. I miss him every day.

You are walking through a deep valley of Your life, few things to say in this sad case - beside that time will heal some wounds. And, believe it or not, but at least take in consideration the words of Revelation 21 verse 4 and try to embrace them in Your heart. And be assured, there are a lot more people than You may believe who share Your feelings toward Your daughter and who feel with You.

I'm glad I'm not alone such a angelic voice.
Eagles Feather - Don't fight the tears - let them flow beautifully for Eva. Her perfectly pure voice makes you feel the tears - let them flow. ♥
Frank sinatra made it to masterpiece, Eva cassidy made it to a gift from heaven above.
Well said!!!
Amen!
❤
Let’s not forget Nat King Cole was the King with this song.. in the modern day era, A 10yr Old prodigy named Angelina Jordan took it to a whole different level.
Sinatra was a product sold by the mob, a minimally talented narcissist .... he had no soul , hence, no feeling
No longer do I fear death. Eva's voice will comfort me when it's my turn, and when I get to wherever I'm going, I look forward to being in the front row when Eva is performing.
10days ago, my doggy, named River went to heaven. We lived 14years together. I adopted him when first owner abandoned to my military camp when River was 2month old. That time, I found him and brought to my parents home and lived with my family. 5years ago, when my father passed way, River comforted my mom and stayed with mom. My mom didn't feel lonely. River got old and he was sick for 2days and went heaven. My mom digged ground and made River's grave by herself. Now Autumn leaves falled on River's grave. I miss River.
You will see him again
@@marshamacmartin4769 thank you. River's grave is the same like Music video background. My mom and brother, sister still come by River's grave.

You shall meet again when you cross the Rainbow Bridge . Autumn leaves are falling on my beloved Matilda, Kim & Jake's last resting place . Missed every day , sometimes on our old haunts I see them fleetingly then they fade away ..............
River did so much for your family. Dogs are family and just as hard to lose when they go.
What a beautiful arrangement to accompany an extraordinary voice.
I am from Russia....🙏🙏🙏
Check out her original version, without the large orchestra. Perfection!
This is why music is an art, it can touch the very deep inside of your soul. Thank you for this moment.
the first singer that truly understood what this song could have been about - like so much of her music, it deals with the death and loss of loved ones - the emptiness that is left - lot some others, I kind of like that sparse her only version, but this is breathtaking as well - and of course, moves one to tears - I am always happy that no one is around when I listen so I cannot see me crying to myself and I do not have to answer their question, "What is wrong"
yup - cryin myself Steven. She goes to the heart of it and I just want to hug her and say it will be alright. Wasn't of course, She didn't deserve it.
If that ever does happen when you're listening to Eva and a friend enters the room and asks "what's wrong" ... tell them
"... it's what's right". Then make them sit down and cry with you.
I totally agee.Eva put a totally different and wonderful meaning to the song, which she did on all her recordings. I hate the Jazzy Jazz singers who sing this song in upbeat tempos . This is a love song. I doubt there will be another who will ever match Eva. Maybe Alison Krauss comes close, but not as close.
Gives me goosebumps every time! What a sublime performance.....
Perfection.....the crescendo, the accents, the silence between notes, most of all the angelic voice punctuating the emotion of loss and remembrance, Perfection.....just.....perfection
You Tube-- Thank you for saving all the Music. Eva will never Die as long as her music Lives.
Positively haunting. I lost my wife Katherine age 52 on Oct 29 2018 in mid-autumn. Nat King Cole, step aside, this version, and this voice just soar.
So sorry about your loss. I lost my little brother in September of 2018. 💔 May they R.I.P. 🌹
so sorry...hope you are picking up a few pieces...just listen and cry if you will...it's a strange healing.....bless...
I just "discovered" her a few weeks ago...now I can't stop listening to her....clearest most beautiful voice I have ever heard...takes my breath away
I am falling and crying. I could feel Eva's heart. I think she knew that her time on this earth is limited and she just poured her heart and soul to this song.I can't help myself from tearing.THANKS Eva.
May she rest in Paradise with our Heavenly Father.
This is a beautiful concoction, lovingly presented, but I feel the original is as good as it gets. Simple, spare and very spacious, her unique interpretation of this song amounts to the greatest vocal performance of my experience. Some people are struck dumb on their first hearing! I listen 10 times a year or more and it never, never leaves me wanting more. I usually blow my nose after listening to her sing almost anything.
She left us too soon!
Agreed. You can not beat her solo with only the guitar. No modern effects, voice auto correct etc.. Just pure talent and a golden voice. I wish I could have heard her in person.
Absolutely agree--I taught myself to play her guitar part and it's inspirational. She was a brilliant guitarist as well as an amazing vocalist.
Fraser - as subtly scored as this orchestral version may be, I couldn’t agree with you more. The acoustic version that I originally heard from the Live at Blues Alley session remains - along with her People Get Ready- among the most emotionally resonant vocal performances of my lifetime. We were truly robbed by her passing. I don’t know why it took me so long to stumble across these videos, and while it’s not like I’ve not heard most of these performances before, it’s like the first time all over again.
Chris BobiK
@@sheldonupthegrove7822 I agree, the sugary orchestral arrangement does nothing, imho, to enhance that beautiful voice and solo guitar!
This is being sung by an angel who left us much too soon. Cancer (melanoma) took her from us at age 33. Thanks so much to her family for making it possible for the world to hear this pure, unaffected, perfect voice!! No one interprets a song - any song - the way Eva did. A brilliant musical genius. We'll never let your music die, sweet angel.
I lost my husband 8 years ago and this song and her beautiful voice really touches me. ❤️😢
How anyone could dislike this is heartless. It's incredibly beautiful. And, combined with such a voice, the late Eva Cassidy, just magnifies this ballad.

I am in tears every time I hear Eva sing this song. When I hear it, I begin speaking in unknown tongues. It is incredible. I love Eva anyway, because it is my dear great-grandma’s name and I loved her dearly.. and she lived to be 105. Eva’s voice you feel every note. She blew this song away!!! Magnificent & Moving!
Eva's version of Autumn Leaves is my favorite. Eva sung it with all her heart & soul! The video is beautiful & touching!
Seriously? Who in the world could give this a thumbs down? I could listen to this over and over and never tire of it. She was absolutely amazing!!!! God must have needed another Angel to sing in the heavens. Because she sure had the voice of an Angel.
Me, too..i have just discovered this..can't stop already..
Only a moron with no taste would give thumb done
Whenever my resolve is weakened or my soul feels battered, I can count on Eva to comfort me.
The words, the strings, and, most of all the voice, remind me of far more sensitive times. Her voice creates a performance of unimaginable beauty. God bless you Eva..
The common thing to say these days is "there are no words...". In this case, anything we could say can't possibly do justice to the heart-rending beauty of this. Eva...oh, Eva...

I have been listening to Eva ´s music for over 20 years now and Autumn leaves is my absolute favorite. I love this arrangements with London Symphony. Thank you :-)
I own 3 of her CDs. Heard about her from Ted Koppel, of all places, on the news, a few decades ago. Listening to her evokes many emotions, not necessarily sad, but strong releasing feelings. She died of melanoma in 1996 at 33 yrs old. So glad her music lives on!
I've downloaded all the albums, all the versions that there are on Apple music
Two decades ago. The Ted Koppel special was aired around 2000.

This was so wonderful to hear.I have always loved her singing. So sad her life got cut so short.
I’ve discovered (as strange as it may seem) there are some people who haven’t experienced the kind of heartbreak expressed in this incredible song. For those of us who know the unbearable pain of a broken heart; there are certain songs that express this unique human experience in a singular way. For myself there are two songs that are so beautifully and artfully expressed they stand above all others. One is “I Can’t Make You Love Me” composed by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin; and the other is this song composed by Joseph Kosma in 1945. The original lyrics were written by Jacques Prévert in French, and the English lyrics were by Johnny Mercer. Sinatra recorded an incredible version 60 years ago; now we are blessed with this otherworldly rendition by Eva Cassidy with orchestral arrangement by Christopher Willis.
please release a whole album of remakes/remixes in this way !!!
What a wonderful talent this woman had,not only her voice but the raw emotion with which she sings. She was truly gifted.
There will be an album of these remixed orchestrated recordings in March of this year.
Miss you my Darling. Call me again your Darling, your Angel. It was in Autumn where my dreams were broken.

Gone too soon. My favourite version of this CLASSIC! RIP Eva
Simply a great voice, so very much missed, a great video
I have been listening to Eva Cassidy for years and her original version of this song was brilliant. With the accompliment of the London Symphony Orchestra it lifts this song to another level. I lost my beloved wife to cancer 2 years ago and it is this version of the song that reminds me of all the wonderful years we had together. Even more poignant as Eva is no longer with us either.
I don't agree at all. Here original solo version is far beyond and should not be touched.
I love the orchestra in this song and the arrangement, Eva is magical beyond words! To show how amazing she is, Eva sounds just as good by herself and just her guitar, if not better, even with the London Symphony Orchestra backing her. I'm not taking away from how beautiful this arrangement is but Eva Cassidy didn't "need" it, that's how awesome and beautiful her artistry is.
100% correct. Love the London Symphony Orchestra and what they did here, but she didn't need it.
It's simply beautiful. I have not words to describe my feelings.

she absolutely captures the bare soul in her acclaimation "but i miss you most my darling you'll hear when autumn leaves start to fall." as i listen, i want nothing but to be alone, to hear her voice, her interpretation of the music, and to feel my extreme lonliness.
Wonderful. Thank you so much, Eva Cassidy. 🌹💖
Played this at my husband's service. The autumn days were when we prepared for hunting season together. How I miss him.
This is so beautifully captivating. Eva’s voice was truly mesmerizing. Somehow the blues were a little bluer and truer when she sang them. She seemed to be able to make every piece of music her own, and she brings her audience along for the fantastic ride.
A golden voice, to be missed forever
Sublime clip, sublime Eva, sublime The london Symphony Orchestra. Elle nous manque terriblement.
Sadly, Eva was still in the "summer" of her life when she was taken from us. RIP. 🎵❤️🎶
OMG !!!!!!!!!!! my heart is melting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every time I hear this angel sing my eyes fill with tears. It is perfection. She is gone. How much more pain can be added here? Whoever put this symphony arrangement to Eva’s voice should take a forever bow. I cannot think of any piece of music that stirs my heart like this one and only because it was made for Eva. She and the song become one. Hauntingly gorgeous rendition. Somehow through her music, Eva is still with us every time someone is touched by her legacy.
