@@sajiro__2004 I mean he's literally a father of an infant, which takes up most of his days, and he still found a good amount of time to improve on something he wanted to. I fly for an airline and it takes up most of my week, if not all of it, and I still know how to make time for the things I'm passionate about. I completely understand feeling tired and lazy after a hectic day, but you should still make time for yourself and the things you're passionate about and enjoy, or else you become sad and bitter. If art isn't it, you can find something else. Besides, doing a little bit of traditional drawing at the end of a busy day is a great way to relax, and I recommend at least trying it out.

      @FelonDog Před 6 měsíci +1

@@squ34ky A program generating an image for you and you uploading it online is NOT a tool. It's not even advertised as a tool for artists. It's advertised as making a finished product for NON-artists. A paintbrush can't create an image for you just by you whispering some prompt words at it. Comparing a paintbrush to a program that creates an image for you and saying they are the same thing is asinine.
The most "tool" part would be if people that are already artists use the image it generates as a color palette for their own art (but they can literally just use color palette programs and pretty photos to create a color palette from), and it could maaaaybe be used to give an artist ideas if they don't know what they want to draw next (but so could browsing images and other art on the internet with whatever prompt words used in a search bar instead). And it wouldn't even be good to use as a reference tool, because then you're learning all the mistakes and nonsense noise that Ai includes in their images, so it would be better to use real photos as reference. Even as a "tool" Ai image generators suck.
And saying Ai "artists" can draw also isn't even an argument for anything. The only reason they could draw is if they were already artists before using an Ai image generator. The act of using it did not make them artists or help them as artists in any way at all. Anyone can draw with a pencil when they want to. You're just stating a fact that makes no sense at all in regards to Ai image generators.

And he did SO well on drawing every day, that's something I myself struggle with, but it's so important. Obviously there were two big limitations: 1. He should have relied on reference a LOT more, but heck, many amateur artists don't know to do that, and 2. He shouldn't have felt so embarrassed at how "little" he improved day-to-day early on. So glad you decided to react to this!! I haven't watched Pewds in years, but I'm glad I stopped by for that video. It's always amazing to watch a new artist unfold before your very eyes! I think he has incredible potential, as does anyone looking to get into art. Seeing someone, especially such a prominent figure in the social media scene, actually take a chance on learning to draw amidst an AI takeover... feels super special. :)

I am impressed by his dedication and his ability to analyze things quickly and understand how to analyze them. His journey is one of the things that, despite my VERY slow improvement as an artist (though, I don't even consider myself one anymore, and don't really plan on being a professional artist), keep me trying new methods and understanding art. If I was able to understand UI design intuitively by using devices a lot, what I need to do is look at art and analyze it, "use" it, like I use computers. Break it down myself into different parts and shapes, until I eventually do that naturally the way I can do with UI designs.

It's incredible seeing someone as huge as Pewdiepie, take the time to learn how to draw and create art. It just shows that art is something you can absolutely learn and improve on. Something else that you mentioned in this video that I think is really important, is the importance of drawing things you LIKE or are interested in. I felt for the longest time that in order to improve my art AT ALL was to draw people, study anatomy, draw from still life only, only practice your fundamentals, etc.
But this is where I feel it's important to know that you can absolutely practice your fundamentals within the things you are genuinely interested in. Example, I prefer drawing plants, environments, and animals. But I always felt like in order to be good at drawing those things, I had to draw people first, or only study anatomy; and it was really hindering my enjoyment for art. But I'm teaching myself that it's OKAY to practice my fundamentals within my interests range. I can absolutely practice values and forms on Plants, Rocks, Trees, etc. Or I can absolutely practice perspective on Organic and Non-Organic environments. Or I can practice anatomy of several different animals that I've never drawn before. I don't need to step outside of my interests range to try things I'm not comfortable or good with. And I wish someone would have told me this sooner. 🤍
But this was a great video and tbh, I was eager to see if you'd do a reaction to it. It's such an uplifting thing to see these days as an artist, someone big with little experience with a pencil, but taking the time to learn it. 🤍

I started early this year, like in January, technically last December. I drew a lot throughout the months. I enjoyed it a lot. Then I just kinda stopped because life and mental is getting to me, and i practiced stuff i didnt enjoy very much. I dropped off the art train, my stuff collected dust. Now I want to start again and do my own thing. Thought about practicing body parts again, but that is exactly when i dropped off. Starting with something I am passionate about honestly helped me getting in, and I think it will do so again.
I hope anyone with similar experiences tries following this route instead. Fundamentals are cool n all, but if you want to draw a manga panel instead, try that. If you have issues drawing it, look for some tutorial helping you in that, and keep going. Thats what i am going back to now. Its frustrating that i wasted my art year, but I hope that wont discourage those with a similar situation. It certainly wont discourage me. :)

I love Félix even more for sharing this! So important for the art community at this time!! As an art teacher/tutor and a former art degree grad, one of the biggest barriers I have found, seen, heard and identified to those just embarking on their art journeys, is comparing themselves to other artists. I see it now just scrolling through most of the comments in this section, in fact I would do this prolifically during my studies. You really need to get that mentality out of your mindset, instead start comparing your progress from yesterday to today… become obsessed with yourself and your art journey. I always tell people to treat art as if it was part of your own DNA, when you create you want it to be somewhat distinct to yourself, not blend in or carbon copy everyone else. You can draw inspiration from other peoples artwork but don’t rely on their works as some form of magic pill that will grant you greatness overnight. Mix it up, find things you are super into, or passionate about, and grab references from that, as Sam points out, reference is huge! Don’t be afraid to use it.
Unsurprisingly a lot of the art they compare themselves to is either by well established artists ..or AI “creatives”. They live in an illusion that art should just be done with ease and so perfectly. This is why when I’m drawing live demos on screen in class, I make sure they see all my mistakes, so that my process is transparent and not nearly as “perfect” as they sometimes tend to think it is, based of off my finished pieces.
Look at art as an investment, you get out of it what you put into it, it will not come easy, but the more you feed it, the bigger its growth and the bigger your hunger to develop it grows. It guts me when I see someone try for a day or 2 then resign themselves to “I’m just not an artist, it’s not my natural talent”..that’s total bull shit. No artist is ever perfect or 100% and if they tell you that…they are lying, art is an eternal process really, you never stop learning and the day you decide you’ve learned and done it all… you will be humbled very quickly and surprise yourself with things you never thought about before. Passion is a huge key component in learning art, but that often comes from practice and observation, finding your own little niche and developing/platforming of off that.
Art is my escape, I’ve always loved drawing wildlife and the natural world, it is my true love and passion I’ve worked on since the age of 4 after watching The Lion King. I am fortunate that my work means I get to draw and further hone my art with other creatives (the best feeling and super encouraging to be surrounded by other creatives) but I am also studying my degree in zoology and it can be physically and mentally demanding as well as limiting when I suddenly have ideas for new art projects or pieces but can’t immediately put them onto paper. But I always try squeeze art into my day whenever and wherever I can, even if it’s just taking photos of trees or something interesting for reference then scribble that onto newspapers or magazines during tea/lunch breaks. You don’t have to invest hours and hours every single day, 20, 15 or even 5 minutes is still something! Anything to keep the artistic energy alive.
I really hope this big ass novel of a comment hasn’t come across as some weird flex, more just a page from my book of life experiences that I’ve learned from peers over the years and now share with my own students and friends wanting to jump into the arts and creative community. Hope you can make sense of it.

I've got to say, Watching Pewd's video inspired me to try to do the same as Drawing is one of those skills I've always wanted to learn and I would consider myself very creative, but never put in the effort required to actually develop that skill, wanted to try exactly the same because it seems like a good idea, got myself an sketchbook and I had no idea how to tackle the task, now it's just there waiting for me to start.
However, NOW that I've watched this video, I feel like a know and understand how to start, but I have a very clear goal in mind.
Next year, I'll open a Japanese style fusion food place and I want the mascot to be a chibi bunny with traditional japanese clothes, but I want him to look both cute (because chibi) and have this "serious" look to him, I have always loved that style and it merges serious looking with chibi art that is normally adorable or goofy.
And I have no idea what to use as reference, I've found a few pieces online to work with but not a lot.
If anyone here has any idea on where I can get inspiration or reference for something like this, I would really appreciate it.

Drawing is such a great hobby to take up. The problem I see for most people is they don't train enough and just expect to magically be able to draw well. You have to train just like you would a musical instrument, ballet, or martial arts for example. For some reason people under estimate the work required and just assume they can't do it.
