    Awesome to hear others starting lineweights at 3! I started this my second year into Revit after stumbling onto the pattern reservation by accident and felt like a madman explaining it to others until I found the forum guide.

    Just found this and watched for first time. Fantastic Video! I am part of our BIM Revit Template team, and I'm going make these points. We are rebuilding our template now, and you've inspired me to rethink some of the things we are doing. WOW! I've doing Revit for 13 yrs, and been a BIM manager for portion of that time. Great stuff! Also, totally agree with door instance. Been using that method for a few years now. Aaron Maller is a genious, and he might have changed my mind on a few things.

    Pro Tip; use Ceilings for Floor Finish modeling instead of Roofs. They build up from the constraint as well but have the benefit of automatically creating and associating boundaries to surrounding partitions. This is also a safer category to have turned off within (non Finish) Floor Plan View Templates as you may need to see a Roof Below in some plan views.

    Love your video - I wish my firm would hire a BIM manager or allow me to build the Template. We have people that are still drawing detail lines for floor patterns. I want to pull out the few hairs I have left!

    On the topic of linked in grids and levels, I use a filter to hide all that aren't mine. It adds a filter, but obviously extra filters are not a problem for the Parralax team. I try to avoid going into the link settings whenever possible.

    I wonder how to make the hatches for the various fire rating walls shown at 13:27. Specially the solid portion of the pattern.

    • @TheRevitKid
      @TheRevitKid  Před 3 lety

      He's using Filters to control how the walls look per fire rating. I had Aaron on the show to talk about filters (here: therevitkid.blogspot.com/2020/08/filters-in-revit-ultimate-guide-waaron.html) and I will also be creating a course on filters for beginners, soon!

      @@TheRevitKid I know about filters and I've seen the live video as well. Which is really helpful. Thanks for your effort and insight.
      But what I was asking about is the hatch itself not the filter.. I tried using make hatches from pyrevit, but it doesn't work with solid only lines.. So, I was wondering how Aaron managed to create the solid parts in the hatch itself..
      I also tried doing hatch with multiple lines close to each other.. But it works only when thin lines is deactivated.. So, is there's a better way to achieve this hatch!??

    First of all, THANKS to Aaron and Jeff for doing this. About 1:10 in, Aaron said we could have Parallaxes keynote file, I've tried to reach him, but can't. Is there any way someone can share that file if they got it? This would be huge for our small studio.

    Even we had super complex templates to start with, but at the end of the line we decided it's of no use creating such complex templates, we are in the process of making it as simple as possible with fewer views.
