- Photoshop CC 2023 tutorial showing how to create an authentic-looking, vintage film noir movie title from the 1930s and 40s from scratch.
NOTES: #1: you can't locate the pattern I use in this video, go to Window - Patterns - click the icon at the upper right of the panel to open the fly-out list. - click "Legacy Patterns and More". #2: At 6:00 in the video, at the upper, left of your screen, make sure "Auto Select" isn't checked.

I just love that title style. Anything retro just gets me: is it because I'm old? Thank you very much Marty.
You and me both! 😂
I really like this one. I learned a lot about text and how to control it. And who doesn't like Film Noir . Thanks Marty
As always Marty…first class top shelf tutorial!
This is absolutely beautiful
A great one 👍
Thanks
Marty that was freaking AWESOME.
Splendid tutorial!!!
Amazing vid as always Marty :)
Amazing !! 👍👍
thank you for this video Marty
again a legend video
Thank you! Great tutorial! I used Photopea, so there were a few differences, but none too difficult to overcome!
Loves it.. Learn a lot.. Thanks ☺️
Super super cool master🥇🥇
Thank you
Excellent sir
Mart é gênio da raça do photoshop, manja muito
Done! I made a Detectives Inc Poster for a work mate who is leaving. Thank you! (You made me look like an expert)
I don't know if you use Adobe After Effects to animate, but if you ever do an After Effects tutorial, I nominate THIS for your first episode! This is wonderful, thank you.
Thank you! I really enjoy doing intro animations. It's my favorite part of doing my videos. I do all my intro animations in my screen recording software, Camtasia. FYI: I haven't used After Effects since I left NBC 13 years ago. 😮
Oh wow! I also enjoy seeing your animations that go with your tutorials, but I also enjoy learning new techniques! After Effects is probably my second favourite Adobe product, after Photoshop, and before Character Animator!
Excellent work again, Marty! (And hey, I upped my Patreon pledge!)
Thank you, Ian! 🙏
thank millions
Oh.. very clever - thanks a ton Marty! (PS I'm still wending my way through mystill-to-watch Blue-Lightning-TV video backlog!)
Marty: Incredible! Perfect for creators... no fluff, no "uh," just pristine, perfect, no nonsense and pleasant direction...Precise and exceptional. THANK YOU GOOD SIR! You have increased the production design of my film noir.
спасибо
Great retro effect man! It’s these tutorials that first brought me to you all those moons ago! Thanks Marty. How’s the health? Good and strong I hope, like your ticker.
Thanks, Scouse! Yes, my health is doing well (knock on wood). 👍
@@BLTV_Photoshop that’s awesome mate, I’m pleased for you!
Love all of your videos! What I would love to see Is how you make the titles in the pictures of your thumbnails. For example, You made a picture of a galaxy some years ago but I would like to know how you did the wording for it as well. Just a thought. Either way, keep up the great work!
Thanks for the idea!
Hi Marty...just one word FANTASTIC... thank you for share you knowledge... Could you please say the name of the last font? The blood diamond

@@BLTV_Photoshop thank you 😊 you are awesome...
What canvas size do you like to use? I was going to aim for 1920x1080, or even 4k, but it seems the background, (as well as text point size) seems radically different for me compared to this tutorial.
I generally use 1920 x 1080 for the PSD files and record them at 4k which results in a crisper video.
I just went with 4k and adjusted things. Thank you so much for this video.
@BlueLightningTV.
I have been watching your content for a while.
Which Application do you use to record your screens.
Kindly shed some "blue light" on ME
Techsmith Camtasia.
@@BLTV_Photoshop Thank you.
I don't know but at 6m in the video, I couldn't get the drop shadow group to drag to the NW. Seems like a step is missing.
DOH! You are correct. At the upper, left of your screen, make sure "Auto-Select" isn't checked before dragging the drop shadow group.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thank you. I love subscribing to your channel. Best,
Ken
@@BLTV_Photoshop and it worked!!!!
Where do you get the patterns? Im not seeing anything other than generatic patterns in the tab
Go to 1:25 in the video.
Have you ever created a Victorian style sign or advertisement with the curled lines, floral like patterns, etc....? I see there are packages out there to buy, but I don't have Illustrator to use them. I just have photoshop.
No, I've never created anything in the Victorian style. FYI: It's known as Art Nouveau and started in France.
@@BLTV_Photoshop Thanks for replying so quickly.
I have the version of photoshop 2015 and in the windows menu It doesnt appear the option of Patterns Could you tell me please what can i do'? Thanks Martin
Go to Window > Patterns > click the icon at the upper right of the panel to open the fly-out list. Click "Legacy Patterns and More".

2000 x 1333 px. 72 ppi.
Link to Photoshop PSD project file?
All the links are in my video's description.
@@BLTV_Photoshop There is no link (that I see) to the project file (the PSD Photoshop file). I see links for a PNG, fonts and music....
