    What glory looks like! It's being reported their boat had stress fractures on a rudder and foils? Yet they kept going. Risk/reward. Extraordinary.

    Well deserved win Kiwis. You had the superior boat.

    Congratulations to Team NZ on their fantastic win of the AC35. Both Peter Burling and Jimmy Spithill are Astronauts compared to other sailors. Team New Zealand's boat was superior to Team USA's. The bicycle grinders kept their heads down with minimal side to side movement. Peter Burling sat behind a steering wheel as if he was driving a car. Moving only during tacking and gybing. Jimmy Spithill often sat on the edge of the cockpit and gunwale, seeming to hike occasionally. In my opinion creating more windage and instability. Oracle's grinders may have been more exhausted and less effective at the end of the day. I like the direction in which AC is heading. What will the future hold?

    Congrats to the Kiwi"s. Well deserved. A scrappy, underfunded, young team brings unrivaled innovation to cat foiling, beating the billionaire class. You can't buy success. You have to innovate, take risk and be hungrier than the other guys. Let's hope they change the rules to make this race more balanced and accessible for future competition.

      Terry Leach In the US, "scrappy" is a complementary term, an honorific that refers to toughness in the face of seeming insurmountable odds. Pretty much sums up the whole New Zealand team.

    Great compilation video of victory moments. Well done YW! Still looking for free-to-view footage of the whole final match race . Hate the way AC made this a pay-to-view thing. Bet the Kiwis make it more accessible.

    can anyone explain why Jimmy didn't get a medal , thought that sucked .

    • @AndrewP1706
      @AndrewP1706 Před 7 lety +3

      My guess is they only had a certain amount of medals to hand out, once on the stage a whole lot of people stood in line who weren't sailors (but shore crew) and as Jimmy was at the end there were no more to hand out. The same happened with ETNZ

    Good job I guess, but I wouldn't be bothered if we had been thrashed. Thinking, about the Bill English and ACT party, loving pricks at the Auckland Yacht Club dancing around leaves something of a sour taste. Will be fun when someone tries to smash the Auld Mug up again.

  • @andyicetroll

    what about someone from Team NZ thanking the opposition graciously! Disgusted as a NZer, in such a fine moment to completely ignore the opponent in the post match press conference. 4 guys, 30 mins, not 1 comment about Oracle, Artemis or the others. Poor show. Spithill showed how to be a fantastic, gracious loser. Team NZ have given ammunition to anyone thinking they might be arrogant.
