  • In this video, Let’s learn about the top benefits of using used tea bags or tea waste and also used coffee grounds for our plants and garden as a tea waste fertilizer which is the best fertiliser for rose plant. And at the end of the video, How to make and store tea waste fertilizer that can be used consistently for your flowering plants plus the dosage to offer for these plants. That’s coming up..
What is garbage in your kitchen can actually turn into treasure in your garden! Used Tea and Coffee grounds have unique uses in garden. We will quickly look into the top benefits of tea waste and coffee grounds for plants and garden.
    1. As An excellent ORGANIC FERTILIZER.
    2. In Composting: Best used in vermicomposting, because ...
    3. Weed suppression :
    5. Drive away Certain pests like the root maggots, slugs, snails and cockroaches.
    6. Offer a Slightly Acidic PH to acid loving plants. It slightly lowers the soil PH due to its tannic acid content and hence benefit acid loving plants.
    7. Making a well drained potting mix: You can used this dried tea waste as an alternative to perlite and vermiculite as it also helps in moisture retention and makes a well draining soil for container gardening. You can watch my separate video on What is Perlite and Vermiculite from a link at top right corner of this video.
Okay, Now How to make this awesome tea waste fertilizer for rose and other flowering plants and how much to offer them. For this you start collecting the used tea or coffee grounds in a container and then rinse in water and dry this in sunlight for 1 or 2 days and then store this in a dry container. That’s it, you can now start offering this to your plants once every 15 days, like about 4 - 5 teaspoons onto the soil after raking the soil thoroughly. This will boost flowering and overall health of the plants. One more bonus tip here is: You can make this mix more special and powerful just like a Multi-vitamin for your plants: by mixing some powdered iron tablets + few calcium tablets available from your local pharmacy. You can also add egg shell powder as a substitute for calcium. Please also watch my video on egg shell uses in gardening from the link at top right corner of this video.
So there we have it folks, that was our quick episode on using used tea bags or tea waste as fertilizer on your plants. If you have some more tips, please suggest them in the comments section below the video. Also give a thumbs up if you like the video and consider subscribing if you are new to the channel.

Thank you! I'm poor, but I got a christmas cactus as a gift last year. I know I'm supposed to fertilize it regularly, but I'm kinda clueless and hoping for a cheap solution. I'll try this out! Because I _do_ drink a lot of tea!!

Hey so I did it right away with some unused tea (figured the whole drying process was to get it back to its original form... also I was so desperate to save my plant I didn't want to waste any time), I also used your milk trick from another video at the same time.
So it's been a few days, and good news: my cactus is doing better than it has in a WHILE. So that's good!!
Bad news: it kinda... stinks. I figure that's the milk though. I did dilute the milk with water (one part water one part milk), however I used homo milk (outside of Canada I think it's called whole milk?) so maybe it just needed to have been diluted further because it was thicker to start? Idk. My plant seems happy anyway. So it's probably not rotting in a bad way????
*One thing though* ..... I just went to spritz it just now and..... I noticed something odd. There are these teeny tiny sprouts of something else poking through the soil. Like they have a stem and two itty bitty leaves at the top. Obviously a bunch of very young plants, but.... what??
Now I _did_ use herbal tea. I don't drink black tea, only herbal. I figured that this would be better even, because it was a fruity kind - so extra nutrients. However.... maybe there were some tiny seeds in there???
It was a Pomegranate Raspberry tea, so I thought maybe it was raspberry seeds.... but I checked the ingredients list on the box and it says: "green tea, hibiscus, orange peel, chamomile, pomegranate flavour, raspberry flavour, citric acid, Matcha." And I looked it up, and apparently hibiscus tea is made with the leaves, flower petals and... centres of the flowers. Which is where the seeds are. But chamomile tea is also the dried whole flowers (ground up) of the chamomile plant. So the only way to know what is growing in my pot it to let it grow, or just poor some tea in another pot elsewhere.
So Idk what's gonna happen with my poor little Christmas Cactus, hopefully the new growths don't interfere with anything :S
(Just letting you know so maybe you can warn people on which teas to use. Because I think even if you used the tea in the way you suggested (used), that wouldn't do anything, because it might just be germinating them anyway?? Idk.......... maybe the hot water would've killed the seeds....... in which case my eagerness ended up causing a negative outcome. Sigh.)

How is your plant? I hope it's doing good. I know, it's hard being in a financial hardships.
Just a tip, not sure where your from, but here in the US, we have Lowe's home improvement. You can go there and if they have any busted soil bags, they'll give it to you at a discount. I was able to get it for a $1.
And you can also compost your waste, onion and potatoes pealing, banana peals, and stuff.
You can even get a bucket in bakeries at Kroger and stuff for free. This is what I'm planning on doing. LOL, it might sound crazy but right now I don't have anything, so I'm trying to compost using a cardboard box.
I'm interested in doing a CZcams channel about my journey through all this, but I'm kind of nervous, I have depression and anxiety, I never gardened before my entire life.
Besides, when you are poor, you ain't got no fancy equipments either. I also don't have any technical knowledge, LOL, what am I talking about, I am not sure if I got any knowledge for that matter.
Okay, I am so sorry for driving you crazy, take care.

I do add tea and coffee powder to the plants and now I see how they benefit them . Since I don’t have tea bags, I just add them as is, thanks for helping out with your channel so I don’t think 🤔 that I’m doing the wrong thing by adding the waste

I’m currently in the process of growing boysenberries in my backyard and I’ve buried five used tea bags close to their roots due to the fact that I’ve heard that it makes the soil healthy for them and to my understanding also keeps a high level of humidity in the soil to keep it alive and healthy as I water them too and applying the fertilizer for fruit plants every two months. And now I’m eager to see the results later on during their growing process. Thanks for the great tips.

I don't know about tea but coffee grounds are roasted and provide benefits similar to potash. The darker the roast, the more "ash" character.

Hello there, My question is, can we use unused tea as fertilizer? Or does it needs to be boiled first?
