What I've learnt from watching this and reading comments: This military is powerful, I'm not going to be ignorant. But Russia would wipe out NATO. At least in Europe. I think if a war started, Russia could take Europe up to Spain and the English Channel, but nothing else until China declares war and they are confident. NATO has come a long way. I want to take a moment to express what I am thankful for. I am from the United States, child of Britain and long time friend of France. A nation of immigrants stretching from different parts of the world.
1. Thank you to France for your sacrifice to the American independence so that we could be here today.
2. Thank you Britain for being not only a formidable foe in the past, but also one of our greatest allies. You are the reason why we pretty much exist in the first place.
3. Canada, when you were occupied by the British, you may have burned down our white house in 1812, but in the end I personally couldn't think of a better country to have as our neighbors. Canada has been a big support to the US and NATO
There are many countries that may have not had the relationship with us that these three have had with the US in the past, but I just want to say that the US is not strong without her allies. First of all I am not mainland Chinese, nor and I Russian (obviously), but I have to say they deserve a little more respect and recognition. Why would NATO even dare to touch either of these giants? Big wars have tended to start by mistake, with one coalition thinking 'We'll just do this, we have our good reasons and *they* won't *dare* to get involved over such a thing'. I think the situation with China and Japan could be one such thing. I do think China has a cool head over such matters though and I'm not overly worried [more worried about the US].
Also, regarding China's US bond holdings and the idea of gratitude lol. China didn't buy those bonds out of generosity, the world's reserve currency [Dollar] was the natural place [possibly the only place] to put trillions in trading gains. That situation is changing now and we are seeing China trying to diversify out of the Dollar as much as they are able [Euros... n gold n oil n other hard assets].

As an American, war is absolutely ridiculous. Why is it so hard for everyone to get along? The US is no exception to a good guy anymore because of how politics rule the lives of civilians in more ways than people think. Joseph E Johnston I'm not against my country and definitely not the soldiers but I mean come on in the middle east we are just making more and more people mad when we try to kill people that are just involved with harboring terrorist equipment like rifles and RPG's and hurt their families when they aren't even terrorists and then when we come and try to negotiate with those people we find that they were paid to simply hide weapons and are willing to do so for money for their family. Neither person is at fault, but the fucking extremists that are poisoning their own land with death and sadness it is just depressing that neither NATO or civilians in the middle east can do anything but try to gain eachothers trust to hopefully end all this crap.
Here is what I have on this, having served in the Middle East it was pretty shitty and I honestly cannot tell you why we decided to keep troops there. The only real reason I ever found was that its because we went into the countries and completely destroyed their infrastructure. For those that would argue oil, look it up, we barely get any from Iraq let alone the Middle East. Plain and simple we did something stupid and destroyed all the supports keeping the land in one piece.
Now I don't hate America, as I am American however its hard to justify our role in a lot of things around the world. However anytime a country is in sever need of aid and trouble most of those countries come to the US for help or expect that we come to their aid. Take Haiti for example, not our country or our problem but if we never stepped in people would complain one way or another about our actions.
As for living in peace and everyone being friends? That will never happen. Human beings are given the freedom of choice and its for that reason there are different ideologies in the world. Due to these Ideologies there will always be conflict. Anyhow at the most basic nature of being human we love and embrace conflict. So unless everyone becomes mindless and loses the will of free thought there will never be a "true" peace.
NATO is a super-powerful force which strikes fear into the hearts of its enemies.

Иван Плюхин а то что запас хода и маневренность больше даже у наших древних самолетов - не в счет? Только у F35 небольшое преимущество - зависание в воздухе. Усе. Кстати КПД F35 - так же - никакое. А наши... там где испытание, там и принятие на вооружение. :) Сложностей не вижу ибо самолеты Сухого и МиГ всегда всех поражали на повал. Если вы не помните то от Американских F-117 спасала именно наша система радиолокации. И именно из-за них F-117 прошедший долгий путь от тестов до вылетов - служил не долго, а вылеты были редкими... Раптор (f22) кстати, скопипастили именно с Мига, внеся в него улучшения.

Это потому, брат мой, тебя не напугало, потому что ты по компу смотришь и войны как таковой не видовал. Я за свою жизнь видел 3 войны, 2 из них в возрасте 5-7 лет. Незнаю что ты об этом думаешь, но даже бравые солдаты, когда впервые видят как их братьям отрывает головы и во все стороны летят мозги начинает срать огромными кучами. Но все же когда воюешь, духовно готов к смерти, чего не скажешь про мирных жителей. Когда солдаты вошедшие в твой город, деревню (причем не важно свои или чужие, все одинаковые у всех приказ) после всего зверства им повиданого зверь просыпается в них и они начинают насиловать женщин, гладить людей утюгами вымогая все дорогое что есть в доме. Врываются с автоматами. Порой по пьянке растреливают людей ради развлекухи. Так что ничего хорошего в этом нет. Представь себе картину как тебе в лоб автоматом тыкает неадекватный чел, а ты ничего ему не можешь сделать. Посмотрим как ты тогда срать начнешь. Не надо тут вести разговоры "мы америку порубим, борща наварим" Херня это все, брат. В войне победивших нет. Будут жертвы со всех сторон и может тебя привезут твоей матушке грузом 200.
