If the King had seen Harry, it would have looked like the King approved of Harry and Meghan's trip to Nigeria. Politically, it would have not been a good look for the King to see Harry the day before the non-Royal trip to Nigeria.

A lot of the journalist keep stating that the royal family is funded by the taxpayers but I think the journalist should research more to understand fully about the royal family's finances because they keep providing the false information. The royal family's finances are nothing to do with the UK taxpayers except for their security cost. Bear in mind that the security cost would be the same for any Head of State whether if it is the monarch or not. The Sovereign Grant is 15-25% (the remainder 75-85% goes to the UK Government Treasury) of the income generated by the Crown's Estate which is under the ownership of the King so essentially the Crown fund for itself and the Sovereign Grant is not used for the royal family itself but for the upkeep of historic palaces, staffing costs associated with functioning of the palaces and for functions associated with royal duties such as hosting foreign dignitaries, hosting investiture ceremony etc. Any surplus amount not spent on that financial year go into the reserve fund for later use by the Crown.
Their private income comes from the Duchy of Lancaster for the Monarch and Duchy of Cornwall for the Prince of Wales respectively which fund for the daily expenses of the royal family. The royals voluntarily pay taxes on the income from the Duchies since the early 90s. So, people needs to research a bit more to become educated before making opinions because uneducated opinions are not helpful.
The royal are beyond super mega wealthy in their own right ...a 1000 years of monarchy plus what ever they stole & plundered from the resource rich countries they invaded & colonised would have lined their coffers for sure.

But I think instead of asking “Why can’t the King break the rules just once to be able to see Harry?”you should be asking “Why can’t Harry follow the rules just once to be able to see his Father?” I think it is a test that Harry continually fails.

When you deal with debilitating illness, there is always a time of restriction then a major burst of energy and desire to make the most of the time you have regardless of your ability to do those things. The King has been very aware of his time restrictions so no surprise he is filling his calendar.
Sorry ladies but the reality is Harry hadn’t made one single “dedicated” trip to see his father in 4 YEARS. It took his father to be 76 and diagnosed with cancer for Harry to come ONCE.
He completely missed seeing his grandmother in life despite the fact that she was into her 90’s when he beggared off to the US and could have died anytime.
If you’ve ever experienced a family rift you will know that a snatched 30 minutes is useless in repairing anything and at this juncture in the Kings life, stress or emotional upset is something to be avoided. You know the man is 76 and has cancer…..cut him some slack!!!

IMO, that trip wasn't a dedicated trip either. It was a PR stunt, Harry publised it well in advance. It also looked like he had a meeting with his legal team as it was announced a day or two later, Harry's decision on one of his many law suits.
Harry and Megan Zoom chatted with the Queen once a week when she was alive. They do it with Charles as well. Relax. That’s how people who live on separate continents communicate now. Harry may go home more if they had security but this is how it is when there isn’t any and schedules conflict.

Charles does not have cancer. I take chemo for a few years and it is draining effect on the body. Just the thought of it is dreadful. A person who has anytime of chemo wouldn't be doing the things he has been doing snice this supposed diagnosis. Certainly you wouldn't be in a room or in area with alot of people. When I was be treat. I was allowed to go
through the emergency entrance of the hospital because people with the flu and other illness passed a threat. A patient immune system is very fragile and if expose to others can be a serious health risk. Kate is acting more like a person who is on chemo. A voiding expose at all cost until the recovery stage.
Though I truly hope everyone gets better because no one wants to be sick or deserve to be.

I think what your discussion completely fails to address with regard to the King seeing or not seeing Harry, is that actions and words have consequences. Whether the King and the Royal family decide to forgive Harry, is entirely a private matter and happens within the heart, not on a journalist's timeline and according to your expectations. Forgiveness, if it is offered, happens in stages and takes time. A lot of time. And it's important to not conflate forgiveness with reconciliation.
