Welcome back to What’s For Tea :) and today for tea I made these wonderful steak and gravy pies :) I’m using ready rolled pastry, but if you make good pastry…feel free to use your own :) I’m no pastry chef, so I prefer to use ready made :)
These are so tasty, I highly recommend you give these a go! These are so rich…that’s the red wine! If you don’t want to use red wine, just use more beef stock :)
Everything I used will be mentioned below incase you want to make it for yourself. Thanks for stopping by,
    -Cheryl x

Ohmigosh, Cheryl, this was delicious!!! Thanks for sharing. I didn't have tart pans so I made a full sized pie with the pie crust on bottom and puff pastry on top as you did. I used port wine and it worked out great. The flavor on this was rich. I ended up making the bottom crust and the filling the day before, and then just assembling and baking the next day. This was my first experience having a Scottish Steak Pie and I loved it.

My dad introduced me to your channel. I can’t wait to try these recipes!! I’m Scots on my late mother’s side, and listening to you reminds me of listening (in awe at his accent) to my late grandmother’s cousin who immigrated to the US from Glasgow. Her own mother immigrated as well, but passed away at a young age when my grandmother was a toddler. Thank you for sharing your world with us!

The browning of the beef, this is where all the flavour is, I see a lot of so called "Chefs" not taking the time to brown the beef properly, and end up with "grey" mince or stew. Lovely looking pies.

So true Charlotte. I always fry off everything firss, especialy my onions, garlic & meats, juss like Cheryl do. We always cook this way in my family, but many people never fry firss & juss put raw into pan. So yucky this way! Beter to fry firss then you get the best flavor.

I get steak pies like these when I go to the Highland games here in the New England area of the USA. I just love them and since the COVID-19 has canceled the games this year I thought I wouldn’t get to have any but now I know how to make them myself and I don’t have to go without. Thank you, thank you so much for posting this video!! I’m getting the ingredients when I go to the grocery next time!

@Maxbinned We eat these all the time in Scotland, no idea where you got the idea we don't have these. They're one of the most popular choices in chip shops. Also, no idea where you got the idea they're French - they're British.

We live in California and my Scottish husband saw your recipe on youtube. He wanted to have it so badly and i made it yesterday .I made my own short crust pastry , The beef could be abit more softer but my husband loved the way it is. Next time i would try to put in the flour towards the end of cooking. Thanks for sharing and made my husband happy. I recommend this recipe.
