I'm hoping to do this to my midget but I'm now mechanical minded So I studied every thing on the internet about these conversion I known this might a stupid question How can you tell the difference 143 bhp and the 160 bhp VVC Looking forward seeing more videos on this conversion keep up the good work Mark
In addition to the ECU, there’s a couple of physical differences too, but they’re mostly internal - different pistons and the combustion chamber area around the valves. If you have access to the engine number, there are sources online that will tell you which spec it is.
Mechanically, it’s pretty much a straight swap, though it might need the flywheel off the old engine swapping over, if the VVC engine has the large diameter one, plus the VVC is a slightly taller unit. Engine electronics are different because of needing to control the VVC stuff (I”m in the same situation as Mark, with a 1.4K Midget and a VVC engine waiting to go in, except I think mine’s been even more delayed 🙄)
@emmajacobs5575 I'm envious of all these Kmidgets , I wouldn't even mind the 1.4 in mine , also been looking into the nissan cg13 with the r7me box and barret engineering kit , as no cutting is required so totally reversible if I ever sell
Yeah, should be failry straight forward. A bit of wiring to sort but as Emma says, it is pretty much a case of pulling the 1.4 and dropping the 1.8 back in.

I think the differences are mostly in the ECU. I believe they moved to coil on plugs rather than a coil pack and things like that.
Thanks for watching

Been looking forward to you fitting this , will it be a simple swap over from the 1.4 ? Engine looks great BTW 👍

@@ssmidnight9340 if I was doing a conversion now, I’d seriously consider the Barrett engineering route.
