It low key could’ve resulted her in not existing anymore cause I’m sure the death of her friends is what eventually made the moms change her ways and had she’d not change it could’ve affected the relationship with the dad where they might have never gotten together or ending breaking up before Jamie was born but idk I’m just rambling lmao
Lauren says in the beginning that Jamie wouldn’t disappear if her parents never got together, but then in the finale she says that since young Doug is dead, there isn’t an adult Doug anymore. Isn’t that a huge contradiction?
I do see the comparison to The Final Girls that folks are making. But.....in terms of references it's more Joseph Kahn's movie Detention. One of my faves and a the highest rec if you like this one. Less time in the past and more comedy, but wilder.
It was a year after a movie left theaters before you could rent a tape, and 3 or more before you could tape one off tv. Looked to me like they were all home recorded tapes.
@@imbateman Yeah, they were home-recorded, which would make it even less of a possibility. They could’ve used a different sci-fi action film if they wanted to make that point (like ‘The Terminator’), but maybe they just really wanted to shoutout ‘RoboCop’.
Another great horror with Kiernan Shipka is The Blackcoat's Daughter (aka February). It's a slow burn but totally worth it. Oz Perkins is one of the best new directors around. See also Gretel & Hansel, and I am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House.
