The redesign of her costume in MK1 was sorry looking. Yours from Soul Calibur VI on the other hand is amazing and way more accurate to the original. Scorpion's Deadly Alliance costume didn't look right either. Do they really think they can get us long time fans by nostalgia to sell these shitty looking costumes? Not that I was gonna buy any DLC anyways. That ass slap at the end was gold. 😂
I think they should at least keep it accurate, but on the other hand I think now she's a kind of a police officer and Outworld I think they should keep it less skimpy for her character. Most of the costumes in this game should reflect a character's personality.
Likewise, if the classic costume isn't in-line with the character, then don't do. Do 2p costume with the armor. Or do like they did for Johnny Cage. He got a Van Damme skin that was a completely different model and voice. Essentially not even the same person. Do the same for other characters. Or yes, just don't bother. Nothing is better than screwing it up.
I'm a huge fighting game fan, I've played all the greats and classics on almost every port. Killet Instinct and Soul Calibur is my favorites and also Samurai Shodown 1-5. I don't want to get "political" but they seem to cater to an audience that doesn't play their games. I love Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury and Ivy from SC costume design, perhaps I'm old school but these "new" designs for female characters just look horrible. Looks like they tried to censor their feminine traits. Overall yeah its a terrible skin for her, your design was much better.
Agreed! I've got that F4F SCII Ivy statue! The new designs in MK are terrible. Just hoping Japan keeps doing what they do so characters like Mai and Ivy don't end up getting the US treatment. They forget it's "ENTERTAINMENT", and when it's not entertaining, I just play other games like SoulCalibur, the old MK and KI. Yep! Legit had more fun playing this custom character yesterday than their new version of Li Mei.
Yeah I don't play the old games for the sake of "Retro" but in truth they are better quality, overall fun games compared to the new ones of today. Either when my friends come over on the weekend or after work in the weekdays, I always just sit back and boot up games like Super Castlevania IV or Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and enjoy ourselves. I grew up in 94 but I experienced lots of the 90s games and the early 6th gen games of the early 2000s, to me that was the peak of gaming and that's why I never left it. I still have all my retro consoles hooked up to crt and Retrotink to my hdmi tv.
Honestly, if they are going to censore characters like Li Mei and Nitara than why are are the dudes still showing their nips? Their excuse is that they want to be "practical" and "realistic" but Reiko is a soldier and he exposes his chest.
I love when people argue that this stuff isn't realistic while ignoring all the supernatural things in the game. You've got people teleporting between realms, morphing into dragons, shooting ice and lightning out of their hands while surviving impalements to the brain and the only thing that's unrealistic is... her breasts wouldn't stay in that top. They also never mind that the women still wear high heels. Is fighting with high heels in the sand more realistic than having a face that's not 5/10 bland?
