Hi, Sup3r! Thanks for the review- I really like these models- they are very cool looking, and I’d love to paint a few. Just for display purposes, but what a cool display it would be! I love how their big crested heads are held up by just a little coiled tail. I wouldn’t collect a Tyranid army, because most of the models don’t appeal to me all that much, except for a few. These, the Lictors, and the Broodlord (?) are the ones that I really like. And I don’t think I’d enjoy painting hundreds of Hormagaunts or Termagants all the same- I like how even in Tactical squads of Marines, there is a ton of room for conversion, customization, and personalization. Maybe the Tyranids are like that as well- I’ve got no experience with them at all, but I’ve heard that they can be quite “same-y”. Anyway- thanks again for the video- much appreciated!
Tyranids have plenty of conversion opportunities, more than Space Marines I would argue. You get lots of little toxin sacs and differnt types of bio-weapons with each kit, and with a little effort you can add however many tentacles and carapace plates you like! Look around in the community; people have made seriously awesome upright Tyrannofexes, Mawlocs using spare Haruspex parts from the Exocrine kit, and Biovores are almost universally homemade with spare bio-cannons due to how expensive and boring the official model is. And if you don't want to play hordes of gaunts you're in luck; with the new edition Warriors are entirely viable as your main troop options. Not to forget Nidzilla: a pure Monster list might not be a tournament winner, but it is entirely viable in casual games and can be tonnes of fun!
Oh my. Tyranids have always been my favorite faction, but I haven't bought new sets since 2014; Harpy was the last one. I really need these Zoanthropes, but the price has almost doubled over the past time!
They're great spooky looking alien models and by god do I hate them with their poxy 3++ save. Always loved the bit in one of the ultramarines novels where they run one over with a rhino!
Sorry, but no. While Zerg were clearly inspired by Tyranids, Hydralisks in turn inspired Raveners; the original Zoanthropes had legs and arms much like old-school Tyranid Warriors.
@@Siathuan So you say GW stole the design from Blizzard? I don't have the date of the release of the new Zoanthropes but yes starcraft is looked to be older than this new model I did not know about the original version Thanks for sharing.
@@nerv5th pretty much everything Games Workshop does is "borrowed" from one source or another. Of course, the same goes for Blizzard. If my recall is correct, WarCraft was supposed to be a Warhammer Fantasy RTS until the studio broke off with GW due to the overly controlling tendencies of the latter. Hence the green Orcs vs an alliance of elves, men, and dwarves... which in turn was pretty much just straight up ripped from Tolkien, albeit with liberal application of black humour and political satire.
nath null I remember when I could buy a Space Marine battleforce consisting of 10 marines, 5 terminators, a rhino and a dreadnought for £50. If I were to buy the same units separately now it would cost me over £100.
The slow-mo drop always gets me.

You could make 3 of each variant from this box if you found a way to make more tails

Remember when hormagaunts and termagants came in the same box? Good times...
