    This change will mostly affect other Ace pilots in your squad because this ability still triggers on defense. You can still pass a target lock or a focus to a generic or i3/i2 named pilot while they are defending and still have the ability to trigger a special attack when they return fire.

      @whyusucksobad Před 3 lety

      Holy wow, that’s a great point! Pass a target lock to a defending ship

    • @lordofbritannia
      @lordofbritannia Před 3 lety +1

      It will only affect Ace pilots in 2 situations: they belong to first player or those ace pilots can be attacked but they aren't before they activate.

    Normally you would do a point change. However if it's a issue with card text then errata happens. So many people just power game so they look for every loop hole left open in gameplay.

    Glad to see this change. AMG is starting off on a good note, shows they do understand the game.

  • @thelonious2213

    A definitely good errata.
    Enabling the use of secondary weapons on another ship is an ability all on its own, essentially allowing even more double mod secondaries which are already way too frequent and easy to get. She's still able to give double mods, though, this just means that the ship that needs it has to get the appropriate token to enable the equipped secondary weapons.

    • @lordofbritannia
      @lordofbritannia Před 3 lety

      Actually that's not entirely true. Errata restricts the token transfer but it's still possible to use those tokens to activate a secondary weapon. For example, if a ship is attacked before it attacks, Hera can give the token (focus, TL) during the defense modify dice step. Then, when that ship activates, it can use that token to use a secondary weapon.

    I hope this is the start of a trend. There’s a few other abilities without timings which should be clarified. Treacherous, for example, and maybe a few other results-canceling effects, where the lack of timings might be able to cause problems.

    I still would love to know what on earth it means to 'transfer a lock.' This buggers me to no end.
    If 'transfer a focus/evade token' means to take a focus/evade token that Hera has, and give that token to another ship, wouldn't 'transfer a lock' mean to take a(n emey) lock that is on Hera, and place that (enemy) lock on the attacking/defending friendly ship? This would mean that it essentially gives Hera extra defensibility since she can break enemy locks that are on her (at the cost of making her friendly ships more vulnerable). It also is consistent with the way her ability to transfer focus/evade tokens works.
    But most people are assuming that 'transfer a lock' means that Hera breaks her own lock on an enemy ship, and allows the attacking/defending friendly ship to take a lock on the enemy ship that Hera was previously locked on. In other words, it allows her to be a buff-er that gives her friendly ships extra offensive power. This would be similar to the result of transferring a focus token, but the mechanics of it are completely different.
    My problem is just that the language of 'transferring locks' has not been used before in x-wing. I have heard players use that term informally to summarize the effect of cards like Synchronized Console (which reads "spend a lock you have on the defender. If you do, the friendly ship you chose may acquire a lock on the defender), but on actual card text it has not been used. It would be nice if they could just FAQ it and define 'transfer a lock' in the rulebook, making no errata necessary.

      @jacen6386 Před 3 lety

      Yeah, I’m curious about this one as well. I always assumed it would function similar to Holo.

    • @ganon29
      @ganon29 Před 3 lety +2

      Check the rules ;) There is a difference between "a lock" and "a lock token". A lock (not the lock token) is the lock that Hera has on a enemy ship to reroll dices, it's that lock on a enemy ship she can give to a friendly ship. But the rule misses how to pass a lock... Is it ignoring range restriction for exemple ?

    • @KniggeWieczorek
      @KniggeWieczorek Před 3 lety

      This also freaked me out a lot as I read the card the first time.
      Hera's ability text is essentially about passing tokens that are on Hera to a friendly ship. How can you pass a lock token, that is not on the table and is not on Hera but another enemy ship?
      The formulation should be cleared up, or if you say it's in the rules (haven't looked there specifically for "passing locks") there should be no ambiguity also.
      I think the range requirement wouldn't count, if you just passed your lock to a friendly ship, as that ship didn't need to aquire the lock.

    • @zacharyhartley560
      @zacharyhartley560 Před 3 lety

      @@ganon29 While this very well may be true, it remains that there is nothing anywhere in the rules that uses the language of "transferring locks." The closest thing to this is Holo's text, which states that she can transfer her lock token (which is an enemy lock token assigned to Holo) to another friendly ship.
      It is all the more confusing since the rules DO define "transfer" under the section on tokens, and defines the term only with reference to a ship transferring tokens that are assigned to it--nothing about "locks."
      I think until a clarification is made, we have to assume that Hera's ability functions exactly like Holo, and the 'transferring a lock' means re-assigning an enemy lock token on Hera to the attacking/defending friendly ship.

    Why FFG refused to make quick clarifications like this to their often vague wording had bemused me for a half decade. Problem was I think they were treating the miniatures games like board games where constant player feedback and clarifications weren't needed. It's kinda necessary when you're expanding the rules and mechanics every several months with new releases.

    • @mackdye9070
      @mackdye9070 Před 3 lety

      They treated all games like board games. Make it, ship it, collect the money, forget about it. That is why Asmodee moved all the star wars miniatures games to AMG.

  • @TheEnevChannel

    Am I wrong or they said you may use the ability once per attack? (if you have two focus on Hera you can move just one focus token)

    • @Kristofer__B
      @Kristofer__B Před 3 lety

      That was still the same as before as there is a rule for abilities only triggering once per oppertunity.

  • @helmutwarmenhoven2089
    @helmutwarmenhoven2089 Před 3 lety

    you can still use her ability for a special attack for lower initiative ships: it doesn't say you've actually got to use the token...

    Great video, Dion.
    Question: What if Darth Vader (i6) attacks Jake Farrell (i4).
    Could Jake take an evade, but then be passed a focus token when he defends against Vader. He would then have the focus token when is his turn to attack with prockets?

    I will add I'm the only one who uses Proton rockets on 5 Z-95 with a disposable Mine/Tie. When it works properly Firesprays go bye bye really quickly.

    Where can one find this errata? It was not on Atomic Mass Games website (which still has no X-wing) nor was it on FFG's

  • @benwilson296
    @benwilson296 Před 3 lety

    But you can still use her ability to trigger the stabilized s-foils bonus attack on a b-wing or do I get this wrong? You could transfer the lock during your first attack and then use it to do the bonus attack.

    A cheap I6 with an ability you can use with perfect knowledge, and abuse with a couple different combos... still problematic, but at least one abuse has been clarified

    • @robozombie9026
      @robozombie9026 Před 3 lety

      A Defender with a bonus attack and a free lock is insanely over powered.

    • @DRACONAR1US
      @DRACONAR1US Před 3 lety

      For how much he costs, no, he isn't. Not even close. He's still probably quite bad for his cost -- without Full Throttle he's a 90-100 point ship with just a Focus for defence. He'll die in a round very often.

    • @DRACONAR1US
      @DRACONAR1US Před 3 lety

      Plus... he can't even spend the first lock he gets, because he needs to keep it for the double tap. At which point his ability does nothing for the second shot.
      So he shoots twice, with 1 mod on each, and then you're left with an overpriced E-Wing on defence.
      He's not overpowered at all.

  • @whyusucksobad
    @whyusucksobad Před 3 lety

    I’m thankful that AMG released a ruling. I really don’t like that a group of people in the community thought it was OP and put their own ruling down. Just didn’t sit right with me.

    She is still way under costed and should have to take a stress to pass the token
