- This is a video from two years ago where I search through a $1000 eBay stamp box. The audio/video quality is lower than usual as I hadn't set up properly for recording yet. I recommend for the future to look at auction houses. You got for the money a lot of material, but there was near nothing what has some worth. More quantity than quality. No offense. From my experience if I buy a collection in this price class at an auction house in Europe (USA should be similar) I always have sets or stamps which are above 100 $ cat worth. Even higher, depends how big the collection is. You have additional costs (at ebay they are hidden, the 10-12% will be included by the dealer, he has to live from it) of about 20 - 25% but if you take a colletion for 800 $ to meet 1000 $ overall, you will get far better results. And if the auction dealer is not too far away, you can look at the collections before buying. This is also a lot of fun. Most dealers at ebay are buying at auctions and sell the worthy stamps as single positions (the 100+ cat worth) and the rest in collections. Just FYI, it´s up to you what you prefer.

@@KylesStamps yes we all have to learn from our mistakes. But he gave good advice as I travel 200 miles to an auction house in the UK a few times a year. 100 boxes similar to this are sold just to bidders in the room and bidding starts at £1. I expect this would fetch between £100 and £150 and are often bought by eBay dealers. My house is now full of boxes! But the main thing is to have fun with stamps and I am glad that you have learnt a lot since you started.
Buy what you like, not for quantity.

😁 Thanks Donna! Seriously, my earliest videos were below par, LOL. Although, I still had so much learning to do about videography/lighting etc and certainly about stamp collecting. I cringe at how I handled some of those stamps.... Gotta start somewhere I suppose 😋

Во вторых, не надевай камеру на голову, снимай со штатива, а если уж решил снимать с тела, поставь программу, чтобы ты видел, что снимаешь, а то, половину видео смотрели твои носки))). Too much of an accumulation.
No way was that box worth 1000$. APfelbaum is like buying retail but yes they have a lot of nice stuff. The real finds are from random people who inherit collections, estate sales, auction houses, and Ebay. Ebay because your normal joe is going to go there to sell a collection they inherited. Or a desperate collector is going to list items for money. Even facebook marketplace. YOU DONT WANT TO BUY STAMPS FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW STAMPS. For the most part.
