SO MUCH TO DO on MAUI Other Than Beaches! Lahaina & Maui Ocean Center (NCL Pride of America)

- We are on Maui for the second day and we want to see what we can find to do other than the beaches since we don't think we can top what we did yesterday! And our car was still in the parking lot when we got back to it, yay!!
First up for the day is the Maui Ocean Center which is one of the top 10 aquariums in the WORLD! Yeah, the world! It was amazing and the best part was seeing the fishes that we swam with yesterday and finding out their names and more about the wildlife under the sea. All of the fish... and sharks... here are local to the Hawaiian Islands.
Then we are ready for lunch and drive over to Front Street in Lahaina for a yummy lunch overlooking the ocean at Cheeseburger in Paradise... so good! While in the area we decide to walk around Front Street and maybe do a little shopping. There are some amazing artist's galleries here and we were very tempted to buy a piece of art depicting our visit to Hawaii... but our pocketbooks won out here. So instead we enjoyed a Dole Whip while walking through Banyan Tree Park and seeing the largest tree on Maui. It was incredible and this one tree takes up an entire city block!

What is your favorite non-beach activity in Maui??
In Lahaina, we have taken in the show called Warren and Annabelle. You can get drinks and HUGE appetizers while being serenaded by a piano playing ghost (Annabelle), and then you move into a very intimate theatre for an up close, sleight of hand magician show(Warren or one of his guest magicians). We have seen this show multiple times and I feel it is one of the best values on Maui!
Hiking. Try 13 crossings. At the end of the hiking you’ll reach the water fall on top of it is another water fall.
You need to see the iao needle and iao valley

We loved Old Town Lahaina and the Ocean Center also. If you ever do Maui on land (and you need to!) I'd suggest staying on Ka'anapali Beach, do the whale watch excursion (was incredible in February!), the Haleakala sunrise (beyond words), and book an all-day tour of the Hana Highway that circles the island and includes a stop at a winery. And of course a luau! The Hyatt had a really good one, wonderful food and entertainment.
Between you and ParoDeeJay, I'm loving this Hawaii series. Keep em' coming! I'll be sad when it's over, but on to new adventures I guess.

Lahaina is a great town, Fleetwoods and the Dirty Monkey are some of our favorites there to hit up. So many great things to do on Maui like driving up to the crater, Ocean vodka tour, surfing goat farm, road to Hana, and snorkeling so many great beaches.

I love the ocean center. I try to go there every time we are on Maui. The last time I was there, I got to dive into the shark tank for 45 minutes and hang out with the sharks. It was amazing.
You guys have the best videos and stuff as far as taking us along with you just when you’re walking and talking and letting us know what the weather is what you’re going to be doing I really really enjoy your videos I look forward to them daily but of course you don’t always have time to do daily videos but thank you for all your hard work putting into all the videos that you post

When you first rented a vehicle on Maui I thought you were going to drive the Road to Hanna, it’s a must see on Maui. Gorgeous views and very scenic.
We made a game of walking around downtown Waikiki eating free Honolulu Cookie samples. Also Spam Masubi is awesom.
I wish more cruise ships would do 24-36 hours in each port……..

We have really enjoyed following you on this adventure! Any chance you could post our share your full itinerary? Where you flew in to, how many days you spent there before boarding the cruise ship and how many days is the cruise, how many days post cruise? Very interested in planning a similar trip for my husband's 60th birthday (2023) or our 40th anniversary (2025).

Very cool. Are you guys going to go to a luau while you're there? Those are a lot of fun. Don't you love the weather there NO humidity. I was living in my home state of Colorado which boat loads of snow and cold in March. Got to Hawaii gorgeous weather and then this little miists of rain of and on just to cool you down it doesn't even feel like rain it was really weird 😆p.s. I loved the way all the traditional Hawaiian restaurant have coconut syrup on their tables for your breakfast pancakes. And every meal comes with a slice of pineapple. That coconut syrup was to die for 😆 I don't know that I believe that's the biggest Banyan in the U.S. Miami and the keys have huge Banyan trees just saying 😆

You can see the black tip fin sharks in Florida as well. They go right past the east coast on their annual migration with HUGE schools

Hey I had a question. Would you guys be willing to do like a Price log on your next cruise or adventure what you spend out of pocket when it comes to food and drink compared to what is included with the cruise like when you go in the ports. Because a lot of times people does it take in the consideration what maybe an average would be to spend out-of-pocket. And I know it varies but I’m talking about just an average of what you could spend. Because I know you guys do a lot of different things and I’m not talking about purchasing items I’m just talking about food and drink. Thank you so much I know that’s asking a lot but just curious. you guys really need to try Poke! it is THE PLACE TO GET. just try it. they are marinated with shoyu or mayo, so you won't taste much of raw fish.
One of my favorite things to eat is a Poke bowl. So good! And of course, the poke is better in Hawaii than anywhere else.

The Dole Plantation is on the North Shore of Oahu where they serve that famous pineapple whip💕
Did the ocean center survive the fires? Had to come watch these videos to see what I will never see in its original incarnation (Front Street, Baldwin House, etc...) but the Banyan I suspect will survive! LONG LIVE MAUI!

The drone... we are a USCG ship and have a whole SAMs system for terrorist attacks etc. The drones are a big thing on POA for security reasons.
Interesting. We were wondering why the issue when we bring our drone on every cruise.
Do you think this will work? Drop the kids off at kids club on ship and then go to the Feast of Lele in the evening on Maui? Google says about 35 min drive. Show is over at 9:00 pm. In the past the Splash Academy closed at 10:30pm. Not sure what the hours are now since the restart.

Love a good cruise, but this video series has convinced me to do Hawaii by land and do a couple of flight hoppers, as there’s so much to see and do.
Did Jason have any options before they confiscated his drone? Could you have stepped off and mailed it home? I am assuming there was no filming with the drone on the ship, just in Hawaii?

When you say they confiscated the drone, does that mean you won't get it back, or get it back after the cruise? So you did not drive to the top of the volcano? You missed something by not going there.

So I am assuming you are anti the standard cruise ship excursions? You do the excursions on your own?
We occasionally book excursions with the cruise line but we find we have a better time exploring on our own.
Do you need a car once you get off the ship.
