For everyone saying he's plugging it into the wrong hole, there is only one hole of it's kind. He's actually doing everything right. I'm having the same problem. The only thing we can do is send it in to Microsoft. Heard it's a bad fuse. If you mess with it, your "free" becomes voided if tampered with. Hope you fix it.

My Xbox One and Kinect are approximately 10 months old (bought Jan 2015). Out of the blue the Kinect stopped turning on with the system (no light, no toggling TV/Reciever/cable box on or off, no voice commands). I attempted the 1st Microsoft recommended fix (1st method tried in the video). That did the trick and the Kinect seems to be operating 100% normally at this point. Sorry to see you didn't have the same luck.

More than lightly same issue we had with my sisters kinect and when you messed with the wires for the adapter that reconnected a wire in that cheap cable bundle they used for the connection wire to the machine from the adapter.

This may help. I just fixed my Kinect the other day because it was shutting off constantly. It was the fan. It wasn't running and causing the kinect to overheat so it shut itself off to prevent damage. I took it apart very easily and unplugged and plugged the fan back in. It's been around 4 days now and no sign of defect anymore.
Kinect 2 requires a special USB 3 circuit it is made by intel 2 Not all the USB 3 controllers support Kinect v2. Only USB3 controllers from Intel and Renesas are supported If you use a different brand of USB3 controller, the Kinect sensor may not function correctly. In this other page (from the official documentation on MSDN), there is another useful detail about the USB 3 controllers: support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/kinect-for-windows-v2-known-issues When running Kinect v2 Configuration Verifier I get all items to green except the USB Controller (even the Kinect is detected). I guess it means the USB hub is not compatible or is missing a driver. I had a look at the Device Manager and saw that wdf kinect sensor interface 0 has a yellow warning next to it. The warning contains code 10, meaning that the device could not be started.
I had the same problem and i too tried all the steps and nothing. However when trying to move the Kinect while connected and in the Kinect settings screen, behind the Kinect there's a fat piece on the wire i've discovered when i squeeze the wire together (as if im trying to connect them) it worked and i just had to find the sweet spot. Hopefully that helps you as it worked for me.

The title of this video is very confusing to me. It says "How to fix broken Xbox one Kinect (tutorial)", but nothing was fixed. In fact, you haven't shown us any resolution at all. I'm going through the same issue, and I'm starting to wonder if the chip isn't getting the proper cooling it needs. I cleaned out the Kinect with air and a ton of dust came out. This solved the issue for a short period of time since the internal fan was still moving. When I say a short period of time I mean like 15 to 20 min. Then as I was saying before. I was thinking perhaps it's not getting enough cool air, so I then took a standard small house fan. You know like the one that keeps you cool in the summer. I placed it directly behind the Kinect and the issue seemed to have stopped. It's not turning off randomly and then turning back on randomly. I'm going to give it a full day or two to let this method soak and then if it works. I'm just going to see if I can get a new cooler and see if I can keep the fan running all the time and preventing it just turning on when it needs to cool. this way it stays cool all the time. I know this video was posted years ago, but it seems like the issue still remains to be resolved by Microsoft.
My Sister and her Husband bought one of those adapters for their xbox and i was asked to look at it and i found an issue with the cord you could wiggle the wire and it could from time to time get a connection, we eventually used small wood splints to hold it in a specific spot once we found the area that seemed to be the cause of the disconnect or what i would think is a broken wire connection in it, i wanted to just reduce the length of the cable and solder it but they did not want to risk it not working at all so this is a work around solution for them. But it is something worth looking into for people if it is the wire same as our issue with the kinect and that adapter to xbox one.
idk if youve figured this out or not but you have to have a dedicated plug for the xbox one. otherwise you cant draw enough power from an outlet that has something else plugged into as well. Also do not plug xbox into a power surge protector because your xbox has a built in surge protector and using two of them will eventually screw your xbox up. hope this helped. its now 2015 and i just got the april update and after i did for some reason my kinect keeps turning on and off by itself every few seconds for some reason
TTB SQUAD Hey there Trey. I live in a south american country at the moment and the voltage here is different. The xbox one I purchased runs on 110v, as most do, and the plug on the wall provides 220v. This forces me to use a Transformer. This changes the voltage from 220 to 110 thus allowing the console to run correctly. There was no surge protector involved, and the console was not plugged into an outlet sharing any other electric cables! I'm sorry to hear about how the April update has caused problems, keep me posted on whether or not that changes!!
I figured out how to fix this. Go to your xbox settings and then go to kinect and just click the kinect can't see me and run that setup. See if that will fix it because that worked for me. Also change the name of your console in the system settings and the hard restart your console that might fix the problem as well.
This is what i did to resolve the issue. I turned everything on including the remote. I left the power on, left the controller on, left the power plugged in, went to the settings kinect screen. Held the power button as the unit turned off.,i noticed that the controller started blinking, continued to hold the power button until the controller stopped blinking. I let it stay off for about 30 seconds, then powered on. Everything is now working fine. Btw, i did try what you did at first with results sameas you. I just had to try variations, and not cave into frustration.
My Kinect died after a power outage... Although, it had survived a previous outage. Both times the console and Kinect were powered on. For those of you falling short with this tutorial, it is likely your Kinect needs the fuse replaced... Given it didn't fall from atop a wall mounted TV or shelf. While I've found several great videos detailing the disassembly of the Kinect, I have not found any video, or posts, showing the removal and proper replacement of said fuse. It has to be out there...
meeting my consoles different but the Kinect Port is dead center in the middle and it looks like you're plugging it towards the end somewhere I think maybe you're plugging it in the wrong hole?
The thing wrong with my Kinect is that it's on the lights on it are on. Only that when I try to dance on Just dance it doesn't show the the silhouette of my body on the screen. We checked if we could unplug it and plug it in again it turned off the Kinect then it turned back on but it still showed the same problem
Had the same problem, the disconnect/ hard restart used to work, then eventually just shit the bed. Called Microsoft several times. Basically fuck you, we'll replace it for $90 bucks. Got pissed, said I wished I was recording the call (it's cool for them to record it but not us) and they said they'd hang up if I was. They stood by the 360, owned up to their mistake, and replaced bad consoles. Now it's just fuck you.
I've found the X box one is not nearly as well built as the ol 360. My kinect has just quit the same problem as yours. I've replaced the power supply for the x box cause it died. Also the the power switch has an issue. Turns on by itself fairly often.
I had a Kinect working fine for ages and when I did a full shutdown to turn the power off to the sockets, when the power was turned back on, it wouldn't work. I tried it on another xbox one and it wouldn't power on with that one either. Bah
So I can't reply to Teal Krysis directly because it's a linked comment, but my xbox one is not plugged into a power strip, it's plugged into a transformer to turn the 220v into 110v otherwise it would burn. The transformer it is plugged into is using its own outlet.

@@Bmac_Gaming Yes I bought one second hand on the weekend, got it home and it didn't work. Think the seller knew that, but what can you do? If you plug it into your PC (with an adapter) it powers up and connects, but there is no actual camera recognition or anything. I think once they're broken in this state, that's it.

well I ran into a kinect issue as well and it wouldn't power on I did exactly everything your video says and then I even checked the back of it out it was clogged with dust so I took a can of duster blew it out really good and then plugged everything back up still nothing it was plugged in correctly well I decided to tinker with settings I open kinect settings and seen a tab that said kinect I clicked the tab it then says turn on your kinect or use your kinect I clicked that it checked the box and bingo the kinect powered right back up my x had went and changed the settings for it to stay off cause she was paranoid of the senor so its worth a shot if you have updated to Windows update hope that is your problem fix

Have the same problem. Had the console for almost 2 years now and not too long ago it refused to power on. I tried it all and no luck. The device is POS and MS packaged it for God knows what reason when they did not even give it much support themselves. I'm just hoping I can get it going since my wife spent $50 on just dance and now can't play it! On man....this is by far the worst system I bought.
That usually fixes everything, even an annoying pet for example. Spot stop biting my leg *turns dog off and then on*. K now we're good. Sadly turning the console off and then on doesn't work, at least for me. However, I sold my console without the kinect a long time ago!

This has to be a problem within the kinect its self, way too many people are having the same problem, my sons also will not work no matter what we do, microsoft, say that I can have a replacement for £75, but I have seen other videos were people have bought the replacement, and still no life from the kinect. I highly doubt there is some cunning plan to have the kinects fail, considering it's one of the Xbox Ones major "strategy" markers in marketing. Mine has stopped working overnight too. Nobody touched it. Tried the reset and no good. Friend of mine has the same problem. Sucks

make sure that the kinnect cord isn't bent mine wasn't connecting until I straightened my cord out try that I guarantee it will turn on

The xbox one needs it's own wall outlet not any powerstrip so first unplug the console from the outlet and plug it back in and then it will work

My xbox one kinect turns off sometimes so i just turn the xbox on and back on and it usually turns back on.

well I ran into a kinect issue as well and it wouldn't power on I did exactly everything your video says and then I even checked the back of it out it was clogged with dust so I took a can of duster blew it out really good and then plugged everything back up still nothing it was plugged in correctly well I decided to tinker with settings I open kinect settings and seen a tab that said kinect I clicked the tab it then says turn on your kinect or use your kinect I clicked that it checked the box and bingo the kinect powered right back up my x had went and changed the settings for it to stay off cause she was paranoid of the senor so its worth a shot if you have updated to Windows update hope that is your problem fix

Have the same problem. Had the console for almost 2 years now and not too long ago it refused to power on. I tried it all and no luck. The device is POS and MS packaged it for God knows what reason when they did not even give it much support themselves. I'm just hoping I can get it going since my wife spent $50 on just dance and now can't play it! On man....this is by far the worst system I bought.

That usually fixes everything, even an annoying pet for example. Spot stop biting my leg *turns dog off and then on*. K now we're good.
Sadly turning the console off and then on doesn't work, at least for me.
However, I sold my console without the kinect a long time ago!

My Kinect died within 6 months of ownership. Bullshit. I just found it in the closet...figured I'd try and fix it.

Yeah it’s a bad fuse in the connector so you have to open it and replace it then everything should be fine

This has to be a problem within the kinect its self, way too many people are having the same problem, my sons also will not work no matter what we do, microsoft, say that I can have a replacement for £75, but I have seen other videos were people have bought the replacement, and still no life from the kinect. No doubt someone in Microsoft is laughing all the way to the bank,

I highly doubt there is some cunning plan to have the kinects fail, considering it's one of the Xbox Ones major "strategy" markers in marketing. I am sure, however, that it is a very common problem and someone in the hierarchy at microsoft isn't getting the job done. Here's for hoping things get better! Keep me posted on whether or not your problem changes!
