Oh my goodness… this is seriously next level adobo. You’ll love it! Happy Sunday! 💕
A hint. Put ice cubes in the bowl of your ladle. Then dip the closed bottom of the ladle in the liquid. The fat will conceal on the ladle bottom. Wipe off with paper towel. Repeat until the fat is mostly gone. Enjoy your videos 👍
One version for white adobo is to use vinegar and skip the soy sauce. Sugar, of course, is essential to neutralize the taste. Adobo in the Philippines has many versions depending on the province or city where it is prepared. The one with coconut milk or creme is usually popular in the Bicol region. Thanks for sharing your recipe. ❤😊
I cook this fairly often, with grilled fresh pineapple on the side. Sooo luscious 😊
I've been waiting for a really simple pork adobo recipe!!! I usually get this at my local filipino restaurant but they charge $17 for a takeout soup container size!!! I can't wait to try this!!! Thank you!!! Happy Sunday to the Family!
Flo, when I saw your chicken adobo, I told myself this is perfect for pork. I did the chicken the first day, followed by the pork two days later. Perfecto! Here in Hawaii, all markets have pork adobo selling as pork adobo. I made 3 lbs of chicken, followed by 6 lbs of pork adobo. I like to make a lot, for later also. Serving with broccoli with the adobo sauce is a “Winner” and “Ono Ono.”
dude was almost speechless, that never happens
The real white adobo is made of vinegar salt garlic little sugar and pork belly. Boil the pork and reduce the water until the fat comes out and let it fry the pork to its fat.
Flo, Dude, family and followers hello all hope you are well.
Flo, you know you steal my heart when you cook with pork. 😂
looks like heaven in a dish
Your hair is so adorable! I embrace my "Sparkles". . You look lovely!
lmao i picture the kids off screen behind Flo eagerly waiting for dude to finish the taste so they can dig in!
I make beef, chicken and pork adobo all the time, but have to try using the instant pot.
I want a party in my mouth! Gonna have to try this. Funny that I made the traditional adobo last night for a work party later this week. It may be too late to add the coconut milk to this batch but I'm making more tonight, possilbly using this recipe. When I heat it up for the party, I'll mix the two batches. Or, have two versions and I'll see which one "sells out" first. Thank you for sharing Flo and Dude.🌺
Go with two batches!
White adobo was gone before the traditional adobo.
I've never heard of white adobo either, but this looks fantastic!
Thank you for sharing our Filipino recipes, its so really yummy❤ its one of my favorite 😊
I'm Filipina, but my mom never made this. I've never heard of white adobo, but Dude's face totally convinced me to make this. Yeah!!!
Adobong puti skips the soy sauce and uses salt or fish sauce. Flo’s recipe is actually adobo sa gata.
Love this Recipe Flo and Dude ❤❤white Adobo Yum 😋
@@dmf9145I Agree, White Adobo means you have to use “Patis” or “Fish Sauce”…☺️
Whoa, I am so making this - great job!
Following up...made it and it was even better than I could've expected. I did use Datu Puti soy and vinegar - was incredibly tasty and I recommend 110%
That definitely looks like a bowl of winter comfort food!! Happy Sunday! TFS, Sharon🤗♥️
This is what's for dinner tonight! Looking forward to it. Thank you!
This dish looks awesome and the onions are a key ingredient in so many great recipes, it gives so much extra flavor, richness and depth of flavor. I've ordered your newest Daily Specials HC cookbook a couple of nights ago and I can't wait to receive it. I have all your cookbooks and I am certain, I'll love this one as much. God Speed!
Thanks so much!
Yes Onions 🧅 Perfect 👍
Costco, here I come!! Happy Sunday, everyone! Today is Wednesday, so happy Wednesday, y’all…
Clearly your Costco is DIFFERENT than mine. No finger meat or pork belly have I ever seen!! This is another recipe that I really want to try. I’m a big fan of the electric pressure cooker.
Pork belly is sold in all Costcos.
@@commoncore49 Do you have to ask for it or look in a special place?
@@sherryw-ponyluv-er2394 pork section. It comes the way she showed. Can use the boneless country cut or cut up a tenderloin or even the butt.
@@keithfreitas2983 I’m in the
US and a smaller town and have never seen it but I’ll try again soon! If not, I will sub. Thanks.
Absolutely great recipe you shared i love pork adobo.
Hadn't cooked pork belly before... but found some slices at Save On for $10. The pack was kinda small so I use that along with chicken breast. Wow! I think my family prefers chicken but the fat from the pork (even after skimming) was so good. I served it with jasmine rice and sauteed baby shanghai bok choy tossed in sesame oil and a pinch of salt. I got some coconut milk on case lot sale so this is going to happen again and again. Thanks!
Okay ! I know what I’m making for dinner tomorrow that looks delicious Flo . Thank you for sharing have a blessed week 🥰
Recipe in the description please
Great video as always. Wonderful directions. The taste at the end is always good. I love the Instant Pot.
Dude’s face sold me! 😂 Next Costco trip, I will look for pork belly.
Thanks for taking my comment last time in consideration! ❤
Hope you like it.
Oh Flo🤩🙏
Look so delicious!!!!!!!
I must make it tomorrow’s dinner for sure👌😋👍
Looked amazing & delicious! 😊
You can try vegetable adobo like snake bean, string beans, kangkong(water spinach), @nd many more.
Looks heavenly 😋
So, im filipina but ive never tried adobo with coconut milk before, definitely going to try it soon 👍
Thanks you for this yummy quick n lovely cooking recipes everytime🐷belly white adobo🧄🧉🧅🥥🐖🍲💯🤤🍚flavoursome GB family safe 🙏♥️😋🤓
Girl! I'm already really HONGRY, and if I don't eat soon I'll become HANGRY!! You're NOT helping my current state of being, Flo! That looks sooo good right now! For the emergency at hand, I'm thinking it's baked tater time though.
I make lovely braised pork belly and always eat it with pickled ginger which cuts the richness. Will definitely try this as sounds delicious.
Thanks Flo. This looks so good to try. I am on it today. Pork Belly food for the royal family. 👍✌ Hey Dude. that was so Orgasmic your description of the taste.
I love Flo!
try it with turmeric or what we pinoys call adobong dilaw (yellow adobo). but my favorite is the one i always cook. its called adobong tagalog or in my words "adobo frito" which is adobo that is fried by simmering until tender then by removing the liquid/sauce and fry in oil the pork or chicken until caramelized and toasted and splashing the sauce back again to the fried adobo and serve. this is the way i cook my adobo for the past 20 years now.
I only began to see pork belly at the grocery store about a year ago or so. Looking forward to trying this.
Hi Flo! That’s how I make my regular adobo sans the coconut milk. Adobong puti or white adobo skips the soy sauce and uses salt or fish sauce instead. We put boiled eggs too on our saucy adobo. Great recipe!
That makes more sense .
How much fish sauce? Same amount as soy?
@@pbear7814 not as much as when I use soy sauce. It’s a balance of the sour and salty. I add a pinch of sugar to balance the savory taste.
Wow, your knife is actually sharp. 😏 Would like to try this recipe this week. ❤ Thank you for making this video. 😊
Sharp knife is a must!!
@@FloLum I'm managing, but I agree. 🥲
As a filipino... you could actually mix chicken and pork. Add banana blossoms and black beans... 🙂
Great tips!
if you add those ingredients, it's no longer adobo but another dish called humba
Looks delish! Do you happen to have modified cooking instructions you can share if we're preparing this on stovetop instead of Instapot? Thanks!
You can try it for employers, you will definitely like the pork Adobo dish
Great recipe. I am going to try that. Quick question, what do you think of crispy pork belly adobo?
heck yeah!!!
I have been hearing it much better to buy your coconut milk in cartons - not cans. I only could find it in an Asian stores- this recipe rocks - im going to try with pork belly and spareribs instead of with black bean sauce.
Oh this sounds amazing. I love dishes with coconut milk added. Could I use cream of coconut instead? Or is it the same thing?
Cream of coconut will be richer though, so I say go for it!
This is really called in the vernacular as Adobo sa Gata or literally Adobo in coconut milk. Its a variation from the coconut region of Bicol in the Phils.
The real white adobo is really the traditional adobo without soy sauce, the adobo that the Spaniards already found endemic to the Phils when they arrived in the 1500s. It is also dry, just the oil expressed by the pork. Soy sauce was a later addition when it was introduced by China with the advent of the Chinese migration. Sugar is also not a part of the traditional adobo. Up in the Northern provinces and many on the Visayas regions still prefer to cook dry white adobo. There are other version of adobo like Adobo sa Dilaw (adobo in yellow sauce) that makes use of turmeric, there's a variety of vegetable adobo, squid adobo, beef adobo - almost anything can be made into adobo, a term coined by the Spanish colonizers from the word adobar, meaning to cook in vinegar.
Flo... Another winner. I have a question. If I brown the Pork and onions first, do you think this would work in a slow cooker? Marty in New Jersey. Thanks!
Yeah, I think so!
Thanks!
@@FloLum
Hi, There's another version of white adobo. Instead of soy sauce substitute it with fish sauce and omit the sugar and coconut milk you don't even have to brown the meat. Oh and try adding pork bouillon or chicken bouillon.
Looks just like a Vietnamese dish I love and of course it uses fish sauce, maybe a hint of soy. Instead of coconut milk or water, we often use coconut juice. If you’re lucky to have whole young coconut, crack it open and use the juice inside.
Looks delicious !!! I’m surprised you didn’t add peppercorns.
She did, at 8:00.
I guess I missed it. Thanks
🙂@@patiposod8397
Dude is waiting for Adobo Spam...
🤣
That looks masarap (delicious in Pilipino)
Flo sorry to say I can’t see this as a white adobo as color does not the same as white. I can say that this is soy adobo with coconut milk. White adobo is the original adobo , using vinegar , salt, black pepper only (no soy sauce) meat was cooked this as way of extending the shelf live. Soy sauce was introduced by Chinese and that’s when they started adding it to the white adobo and made its new version. Don’t get me wrong this version of your adobo with coco is good as well as I have made this my self. You can also make a orange adobo by adding annato powder to the non soy sauce ado. Also a yellow adobo by adding turmeric. And with coconut milk it for sure a level up.
Do know how many versions there are for adobo?
As many regions there are in the Philippines. Then there are family versions.
@@keithfreitas2983 i agree , it’s countless as each region and each family have their own version of adobo. There is also some adobo that they add potatoes some add hard boiled eggs, some are sweet adobo some are salty, some has more sauce some likes there adobo almost fried.
yup...white adobo is adobo without soy. it's not the coconut milk addition that makes it white.
Actually Flo’s recipe is pork adobo sa gata. Only Pinoys can tell the difference 😜
If I cut the recipe in half, will the cooking time change?
If your using coconut milk it is called.adobong.baboy sa gata.
You and Lan Lam do look alike.
🤤🤤🤤👍👍👍😋😋😋
This dish is called "adobo sa gata", literally, adobo in coconut milk, and it is not white adobo. White adobo is different, it uses vinegar and salt, and no soy sauce is added. This is the adobo before soy sauce was introduced to the Philippine Islands in the 16th century.
No audio? No sound !😢
The dish you made is called "Adobo Sa Gata" (adobo with coconut milk). That's not white Adobo. White Adobo is simply made without soy sauce.
White Adobe is not using soy sauce, instead salt or patisserie with vinegar laurel and pepper corn.
Funny, you skim the fat but your basically eating fat. My arteries are clogging up just thinking about this delicious looking meal. I've got to try!
Yeah but you’re not eating ALL the fat. 😆
Do you know what makes me cringe about pork belly? THE PRICE! Why is pork belly more expensive than thin strips of bacon that have been smoked, cut, and precisely packaged ~ you know what I mean, packaged 'breakfast bacon'. It doesn't make any sense other than that the highly processed 'breakfast bacon' is a much larger seller and pork belly is seen as a specialty item that should cost more. I can't even get pork belly at my local grocery stores but even at the Asian markets it's still expensive.
It used to be one of the cheapest meats til the yuppies started liking it 😂. Now it’s so popular therefore expensive
That is so correct. But, a funny thing that I found is the price will go down, way down at my local WallyMart. And not the small strips. that whole big flat cut. And boy do I go bay a few of them. I am in Long Island NYC near a super-center, and I do keep my eye on price that are down. Same for the whole beef cuts. Don't sleep on this. Hmmmm Pork Belly
Yeah… those darn hipsters ruin it for all of us!! 😉 Wait for sale to buy.
Pork belly was considered to be a waste product until someone salted and smoked it to create bacon. Years ago, chicken wings was sent to the dog food factory. Now it is the most expensive part of the chicken.
Add a can of hard boiled quail eggs!
Oh, no sugar please, our white adobo in the Philippines we don't put sugar. Garlic , vinegar, salt and water only.
im a flip but not a fan of adobo. i think you guys are just being kind and nice to flip viewers.
🤣 We legit love adobo!
Try Flo’s recipe and you’ll be a fan😜
@@dmf9145 Im a fan of hers. Specially love the Malaysian and Chinese recipes
I know you are ! I meant you will be an adobo fan maybe not an avid one. ✌️
It doesn't look like white adobo 😊
who cringes at pork belly???😠
Why do you put coconut milk? That’s wrong!
It’s not wrong, it’s another version-adobo sa gata 😜meaning adobo in coconut milk.
i wish i could cook omggggg this looks amazing
But isn’t it all fat?
