Please don't destroy the Enterprise in every movie
+John Breneman thank you. I really starting to wonder why they keep doing that. Third times the charm apparently.
+John Breneman well u don't get to the letter 'D' by having them be retired from old age, lol.
+Sean Hinton Fourth time actually because this Enterprise was never supposed to be the TOS Enterprise - Actually in this reality the original Enterprise disappeared years before they built a new one - Plus: Actually in the original script for Star Trek 2009 the USS Kelvin was supposed to be the Enterprise.
Michael Sheridan lol!
+John Breneman It wouldn't be a star trek movie otherwise
At first... I like the trailer.. But then seconds later I thought.. This doesn't feel like Star Trek at all. It feels more like a Guardians of the galaxy spin off.
Same
+Ben Covarrubias well it's not like star trek really has that much going for it
Agreed! What are they doing?
+Ben Covarrubias What cause of the music? really? Music and space shit = guardians of the galaxy?
Wrong kind of music.
me 7 months ago: what the fuck is this bullshit
me now: OH. NOW I GET IT.
You're not the only one
lol
Perhaps it would've worked better as a Trailer 2 or 3, rather than Trailer 1.
But I agree, it ultimately fit the movie in the end.
I didn't hate the trailer at all like most did, I like ambiguous trailers to show enough not to ruin it even though did show some tense moments like when he saved that girl "let's never do that again"
+Buxenwolf Though I didn't realise that transporter moment was coming up until it happened. Looking back at the trailer though I do see how, had I paid more attention to the trailer, I would've saw it coming.
Still nothing as plot-revealing as the Into Darkness trailers, thankfully.
Now that the movie's out...this trailer had the PERFECT music. Trust me.
Defenetly
Funny how the "worst part of the trailer" became the best part of the movie.
Yup
it does have the perfect music! just... wow. This trailer had me worried. Seeing it last night, though, put my fears to rest.
haha i was just going to comment this well played
In case some of you missed it, and many of you did, the song they're playing in this trailer was the song that was playing when 13 year old Kirk took his step-dad's car for a joyride in the first Star Trek film.
+Mark Valdez Everyone got that.
+Mark Valdez In the first Star Trek film Kirk was in his forties throughout, and the closest he came to joyriding was having a stray meteoroid fuck up his warp field and cause effects so trippy that I nearly vomited.
+Mark Valdez I thought it was the uncle. Oh well.
+Mark Valdez we know
+Bondan Ramadhan Look at the top comment.
I've got a bad feeling about this...
+Fangirl1502 we all do, just wait and lets hope they come to some sense of trek and sign a god damn netflix contract already and sack bad robot from the deal
+Fangirl1502 Could you elaborate on these feelings in detail?
+Fangirl1502 Wrong Franchise
+Svienbjorn Ragnarith "Star Trek isn't an action flick"
Bawhahahahaha!
Oh wait you're serious...
Let me laugh even harder
BAWHAHAHAHAHA!
Have you even watched the 80s TOS films, or TOS for that matter.
Justin Lin did some really good work on the critically-acclaimed sitcom 'Community' as much as I miss J.J., optimistically we might end up with a third instalment equal parts sci-fi, comedy, cleverness and action.
To all those who said the music only makes sense after seeing the movie -- the music is a reference to Kirk over the cliff scene at the start of the first Star Trek reboot... the same song
Will it may not seem like that at face value but that’s what they’re doing. They’re call back to the first movie (JJ Abrams has produced all the new Star Trek films)
And also, this is the future. Bestie Boys are considered “classical” music
This is much like how nowadays we play Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” or “O Fortuna” in action movies. It’s classic music to punctuate action movies
Sunmovies to watch full movies online new movies cinema>>> Sunmovies#net
After binged watching all Star Trek movies i get what you mean heheh
Rip Anton Yelchin, my heart is broken into a million pieces :(
''From Justin Lin, director of Fast and Furious''
Everything makes sense now.
+Marcio Couto hahahaha like directing that garbage is something to brag about
Hahahahaha
+Marcio Couto Yeah Star Trek is Dead.
+apologyisnothepolicy Garbage like the Furious 7, which sits in the 80% range on Rotten Tomatoes?
+ZeoVGM its not about how good fast and furious was. its about if his style of directing fits a star trek movie.
Hey, a trailer without the Inception BBBRRRRAAAAAAHHHHMMMMMM
Finally
+FrshChees91 Actually the BBBRRAAAAAHHHHHMMMMM appeared in Mass effect in 2007 first. But yeah its heavily overused
+Erwin Heisenberg Uh no it didn't.
+Edbrad Yes it did. So many things in movies were directly ripped of popular best-selling games. Most people just have no clue. Many of the "hover engine spaceship" sounds in this trailer itself is straight from Elite Dangerous.
And lets not even discuss how many movies have ripped off the Mass Effect Galaxy Map tune.
+FrshChees91 Guarantee people would've liked it a lot better if they just replaced Beastie Boys with the Inception BRAAAAAHM. I know it's very controversial and seemingly disloyal to the Star Trek franchise to have such an action packed trailer with very un-sci-fi-esque music accompanying it, but I just find it refreshing simply for not adhering to the overly dramatic stereotype that 95% of other sci-fi trailers adhere to.
Who had hated this trailer and wanted to unhate after seeing the movie?
Me
yup
Me! The song makes sense
Me
Yep
5 years on and I never knew this movie came out. Time to find somewhere to watch it.
yea im here in 2022 not realizing this was a thing til i saw a video about star trek 4. i was like wait wat is #3 then?
R.I.P Star Trek...
Nope. Next year is its 50th Anniversary ;D
+TheGovernor0664 [Ipwn] Star Trek Died in 2008. JJ Abrams Killed it. RIP.
+bigtarget and Star Wars died in 2015. Jar Jar Abrams killed it. RIP.
If it's dead, then how did it get $1 Billion In 13 Days? And plus, The Force Awakens was a good movie. Your the first hate comment I've seen. Why u hate it is a complete mystery
+TheGovernor0664 [Ipwn] exactly!
From 'Star Trek' to 'Avatar' to 'Star Trek Into Darkness' to 'Guardians of the Galaxy' to now 'Star Trek Beyond'.
Boy, Zoe Saldana literally threw her career into space, lol.
+Johnny Utah Pretty funny huh? I heard her say in an interview once that sci-fi was by far her favorite genre.
+Johnny Utah Her terrestrial movies aren't so good.
+Johnny Utah she's great in space and thanks Sci-fi she's unreconizable between all her movie universes (blue natural green and her attitude too)
+Kevin Alibert yup. well said
+Johnny Utah She played a Star Trek fangirl in "The Terminal" with Tom Hanks.
And people said the movie was gonna be bad because of "shitty" music. I bet 9/10 they pissed themselves when Sabotage came on.
I am one of those 9
+Niko Prather which 9 ?
I almost didn't watch this movie, but I'm glad I did. Definitely better than the previous two and I love them too
I liked Star Trek (2009), but I would agree with you on Into Darkness, I wasn't too happy about that one. But Beyond is far superior. Loved the film.
Or there are people like me who will watch both.
Yeah. The plot is kind of messy af. But the characters moment is everything!. Its Star Trek! We watch it because we love characters moment for like 99.99% of the time. It what has been missing in the first two( characters building. I know iknow) i dont know what people compliant about. I miss them so much. Rip Anton
Jeff bezos cameo in this movie
czcams.com/video/lP9rjFzR9-E/video.html
Star trek movies are so gud. Eventhough We can't see 'em among d highest grossers, these re so action-packed.
I liked both d first two movies and haven't seen this.
Benedict Cumberbatch ws lit in d second part.
Am I the only one who thinks that this looks like fast and furious?
+Nikita Kress holy fuck! It's the same director...
+Nikita Kress And guardians of the galaxy
+Nikita Kress so it's gonna be a lot of mindless "action" and completely shallow content.
mind=blown
Yeah, i got the vibe as well.
Fast & Furious in the space.....
+Element Xh (Michael Gibbs) Yeh, fuck star trek because of this shitty director, I mean just look at this ONE trailer, this movie is obviously going to suck because the trailer did, OMFG, this trailer means the movie is gonna be shit. It's not like there have ever been really impressive trailers for shit movies like Man of Steel. But because this 1 minute and 34 second trailer did not please me, the movie is going to suck so hard, the other 2 hours don't matter, I saw the trailer dammit!!!
+Andy Twatley You can actually get a pretty good idea of what a film will be like from the trailer...
I've never watched a fast and furious movie. I'm just saying don't pre judge shit.
Element Xh did you hear what simon pegg said? he thought the trailer sucked too, I even do, I don't think you have a right to pre judge a movie off of a shitty marketing departments choice
Oh, without a doubt, I don't want a mopey "when I see you again" cringe inducing scenes for Leonard Nimoy like they did for Paul Walker (only seen the ending and it looked fucking pathetic, using his death to get money, the cocksuckers)
RIP Anton Yelchin 1989-2016 😔💕
After see the movie, this trailer is just right
true
I dunno, after seeing the movie I felt that it pretty much spoiled all the cool parts of the movie, what's not there was kind of boring. Even that bit at the end that I'll agree was freaking amazing is kind of spoiled by the music in the trailer.
but normally you see the trailer before the movie
Nope. The trailer was bad marketing. It made it like it was Fast and Furious on space. A huge mistake. T
Somebody saw the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer...
My thoughts exactly
+Josh Bullin (bigfunjoshieb) it looks like they're trying to make a peter quill outta cap kirk! the hit from the past when he was a kid, the pace of the trailer, gogles n shit... hell, they even got gamora in there!
凤凰花HCG韩国吵过架国产车发放给经过反复呵护哈哈哈哈妇产科有 十八卡高峰会
+wellington albuquerque I'm pretty sure they had her in there first.
+Josh Bullin (bigfunjoshieb) im pretty sure they are just using the song from the first movie - when James T was introduced about to go over the cliff with his step dads stolen car.
WOW! The trailer is amazing at being worse than any other sci-fi movie trailer!
+Madhur agarwal Got me at first, I thought you were going to say something else.
RocketeerAndRoll That one is way better than this. New X-Men and TMNT trailers are cool to.
+Madhur agarwal this looks good nerd
+The Lenny Leggo Show You really liked TMNT over this?
300cmysrt8 The trailer for TMNT2 was better cause this one was crap.
Plays out like an extended series episode, and yet turned out to be the better of the Kelvinverse.
Hard to believe it's now been almost 7 years since it came out.
Also, RIP Anton.
Dude forged his way to Hollywood, and was extremely talented.
R.I.P. Anton Yelchin. You've got a glorious legacy with these beyond cool movies.
People hate, but they will still watch it.
True....
Beyond true...
Star Trek Beyond true.
KaaahhhhHHHNNNNNNNNNNN... Oh wait.
+Doug Dlux ...when it premieres on tv. lol
Nimoy's grave rolling so fast it could start and earthquake
+DragonPhlegm clean energy here we come!!! dresdencodak.com/2010/06/03/dark-science-01/
+DragonPhlegm If he had declined to appear in the first two movies, I might have agreed with you.
+DragonPhlegm bruh, the diss goes "he is rotating so fast in his grave, earth got a new rotation axis". Also - the movie is going to be awesome

Wow he must rolling.....considering he starred in the two films before this..........
I just discovered this movie exists, 7 years later
- hated this trailer
- watched the movie
- LOVED THIS TRAILER !
This was the only one i didnt see in theaters. I iust wastched it for the first time just now, YEARS later, and i liked it a lot. I think this trailer may have turned me off of actually bothering to see it when it first came out.
@@fraydizs7302 sometime trailers really does decide the ticket sales eh? Hahaha
This movie looks fun. I wonder when the next Star Trek movie will come out.
+JessietheLookout if you in the USA July 2016
Reborn8303 I see something called "Star Trek", but I don't see a Star Trek movie.
+JessietheLookout July 8, 2016.
+Working Taxpayer :)ha
+JessietheLookout Thanks for making me choke on my mini wheats. No but seriously, you are so right. hahaha
Adele is rolling in the deep
*Nimoy is rolling in his grave*

This trailer makes a lot more sense now I've seen the film.
Ikr. When this trailer dropped everybody was losing their minds, now everyone who's seen it can appreciate the effort more.
Probably because they thought that the music wants to invoke some fast and furious racing scene. Wait, it did...
Can we all pay tribute to Anton Yelchin? Rip 😔😭
Not the right music choice in my opinion :S
+Oanon Good tune in the right setting/mood, like your car or headphones at the comp...Star Trek trailer? Gotta agree, not the best choice. :(
+Oanon Then you didn't watch the original JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot. It's the same song that was playing when Kirk stole the Vette. It's an homage to JJ's vision.
+Oanon totally agree
+Oanon Yeah, it...is it trying to be guardians of the galaxy?I know that is the song used in JJ Abrams' reboot but I think it weird to have it overlay the entire first trailer.
+Junk Filter Yeah, and that was a retarded sequence that did not belong in the film, neither logically nor storywise.
I cant stop playing 1:26 over and over
+BiteMyShinyMetal4ss lol
+BiteMyShinyMetal4ss lmao
+BiteMyShinyMetal4ss BENDER! You need more upvotes, buddy.
+BiteMyShinyMetal4ss I'm waiting for the 36 hour continuous loop.
+BiteMyShinyMetal4ss clicked on this right when my mom walked by thanks
I'm here because they announced they are making 4! 😁
LOL they announced it six years ago before this movie came out. Six years later and still not a movie in site.
It will be released this year in December.
@@King-lb4pi They don't even have a Director yet, no way it's being released in December
Music makes so much more sense after watching the movie. Well played
The part was SO AWESOME in the movie!!! And Spock... "is someone playing classical music?" XD XD XD
+Ken x I'm in love with that scene
Wintermaulz ikr! awesome trailer
yup love the ending.
Are we ever going to see a Star Trek movie again where the Enterprise doesn't get trashed?
New Trek 1 - Pummeled by the Romulan ship/black hole
New Trek 2 - Pummeled by the USS Vengeance
New Trek 3 - Pummeled by the creatures from the Doctor Who episode 'Planet of the Dead'...
+Kjell Yes but back then they had real models that they destroyed, giving it more scope and reality. This is all just CGI shit that no one has any attachment to.
I think, the enterprise won't survive, 'cause look at 00:26 . xD
+Thomas Evans - Well, there is much precedent -
Star Trek The Motion Picture - PWNED by VGER
Star Trek II - PWNED by Khan
Star Trek III - PWNED by Klingons
Star Trek IV - was still DEAD from Klingons
Star Trek V - didn't have a space fight to get PWNED in
Star Trek VI - almost PWNED by Klingons
Star Trek Generations - PWNED by Klingons
Star Trek First Contact - Not actually PWNED for once
Star Trek Insurrection - nearly PWNED
Star Trek Nemesis - PWNED TO HOLY HELL
+Kjell nah Insurrection, the Enterprise takes the shit out against another 2 battleships. That one was cool.
They took a major beating first, though. Then Riker got pissed.
You know, if you squint really hard it almost looks like a Star Trek movie.
+dave19941000 But only if you're high and drunk whil you squint!
+dave19941000 I closed my eyes for 94 seconds. Did I do the right thing?
+dave19941000 It has adventure, jeopardy, alien interaction and a dash of humour. Everything TOS had. Except, you know, Kirk's actor can actually act and the effect don't look like they're from the Stone Age....... Grow up. Star Trek has.
+dave19941000 czcams.com/video/XRVD32rnzOw/video.htmlm6s
Blue Sky These Star Trek reboot movies have done literally the opposite of growing up. They've abandoned all drama (serious drama, not cheap teen drama), all mystery, all intrigue, all intellect, there isn't even a message behind the stories.
Fast and the Furious 8 - Space edition
+9385dee7 You know what.... that is it! This seems more like a fast and furious trailer than a star trek trailer.
+samworthick but this isn't a Star Wars trailer
Just a typo, sorry for offending you!
+9385dee7 If Vin is cast all is forgiven.
+9385dee7 You do realize this is directed by the guy who directed Fast and the Furious. It's stated in large lettering in the trailer.
This isn't Star Trek.
Yes it is just made by a fucking chinese and star trek goes suck
+Shred derz I don't think him being Chinese has anything to do with it fucktard 😂
Wellcome to the 21st century mate
You're right, no lectures on morality....
+mrbitbot It looks like Star Trek, it smells like Star Trek but it's not really Star Trek, it's just life support.
Can we just talk about how awesome the beastie boys are in the epic fight scene on Yorktown so awesome
The new Star Trek movies always have that one scene in every movie that just gives you chills. That is that one scene.
I want to see that scene again so very bad. Jaylah vs Rey (Force Awakens)?
@@lebbo88 Damn, I'm 6 years late. And not hating, hell I actually like the Kelvin timeline films. I'm just curious what those scenes in first two movies were for you :)
Star Trek is about philosophy and the human condition
Not an action film.
+unorthodoxJ you deserve a large glass of Romulan ale.
+unorthodoxJ Por que no los dos, Debbie-downer?
It was in the 60's....but that was a long time ago, which is now old and boring...like you.
+Jason Roe I'm 24, and he's right. That's what Star Trek should be about, that is what makes it what it is. Class dismissed.
+hvmoore221 Agree!!! The old star trek is much more civil the JJ Trek!!
I still think this can be a great movie, but the music choice for this trailer was really bad, hope the next trailer gets better
+PFS Venom abrams seems to check the BBoys in lots of his movies including the new star wars
+PFS Venom It's harkening back to the original 2009 film. Kirk, as a boy, loved this song.
+BKAllmighty Good catch!
+PFS Venom Sabotage is a great choice no matter what xD
+Jordon Bise It might have been if it hadn't ALSO been used just a FEW years ago for the 2009 reboot.
2 Star 2 Trek
+MTsteel MT I see what you did there!
+MTsteel MT I lold super good
+MTsteel MT Comment gold.
+MTsteel MT Think it's the 5am talking 'cause I laughed 2 hard 2 hilarious at that! Thanks for that!
+MTsteel MT This isn't directed by John Singleton, jackass.
Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek shows covered topics like ethics, morality, religion, politics, history, government, scientific theories and possibilities. The new Star Trek movies feature a lot of action and great special effects, but no issues that really make you think. It lacks depth. I miss Roddenberry's version.
+Jack Nimble-Quick whatever old man you just cant handle the new effects and cool action
+Gandalf the white pleb
True, but Trek has never been at its best on the big screen, but has thrived on television. Fortunately, a new Star Trek show is being developed for 2017 on CBS. Hopefully the franchise will continue the legacy of social/political commentary then.
+Jack Nimble-Quick dude this is a trend, this is the direction the world is headed, no substance, no thinking, just enjoy mindlessness
+Jack Nimble-Quick I'm with you on that jack, every word. unfortunately Roddenberry was the cream of the crop, best of the best sci fi writers, He will not and cannot ever be duplicated in any way. That's the mark of a good writer. Many come close but wont achieve what he has done with star trek.
RIP Anton Yelchin (March 11, 1989 - June 19, 2016) Played Pavel Chekov from Star Trek. Morning, Yelchin was Found by Friends Pinned Between His Car and the Iron Security Gate of His Studio City California Home in What was Described as a "Freak Accident" He was Pronounced Dead Later That Day at the Age of 27. Other Movies: 15 Minutes (2001), Alpha Dog (2006), New York, I Love You (2008), Terminator Salvation (2009), The Beaver (2011), Fright Night (2011), The Smurfs Franchise (2011-13), Movie 43 (2013), Odd Thomas (2013), 5 to 7 (2014), Broken Horses (2015), and Green Room (2016) with Imogen Poots. He was Only 27 But I Never Forget Anton Yelchin.

very, very true.
the moment was REALLY random, but cool nontheless
Absolutely agree
hopefully somebody uploads that scene
oh god yes
and hopefully the funny moments between McCoy and Spock because I need that
YASSSS!!!! i'm really looking forward to that
R.I.P. lens flares. You will be missed
+Saint Bison Car chases and absurd stunts welcome!
+Saint Bison Well, if movie just produced by michael bay had explosions, jj abrahams produced movies might have lens flares.
+Saint Bison ... no they won't
I never understood what the big deal about lens flares was in the first place. Man of Steel was also full of lens flares, yet nobody seemed to care there...
From a misplaced fanboy forcing a square peg(Star Wars) into a round hole(Star Trek) to "F&^k everything let's just make it Fast and Furious IN SPACE"
Ways you fucked up the movie:
1.You destroy the U.S.S Enterprise(wtf is wrong with you)
2.You try and add comedy
3.You try and make the movie action packed
4.You add shitty music in the trailer
You done fucked it up.
You're mad that the enterprise got destroyed?? have you seen the tv show. it's not the first time.
+JASON P. Roberts it's a freaking teaser trailer. chill out.
+Linkjoy123 agreed to many idiots here.
+Conrad Pro They're catering to mass appeal, not Trekkies. Can't make as much money catering to Trekkies.
Yes, because the Enterprise has never been destroyed before. Let's just ignore Search For Spock, Generations (no, really on that one) and Yesterday's Enterprise. I love the ship, but that doesn't mean it will make it out of every crisis. Sometimes, the good guys suffer.
Just got back from seeing it... Holy CRAP... I had to come to CZcams to find some reference to Beastie Boys Sabotage again with Trek - and I agree with the other guy - I GET IT NOW!!! My hair is blown back in a straight line, my face is still settling back in to it's normal shape after the G-Forces have almost peeled it off, and my eyes are still streaming tears of unmitigated Star Trek Fan Geek Warp Speed JOYGASM!!!
BEST use of ROCK AND ROLL in ANY Star Trek Movie or show EVER.
And Kirk is INTO IT. XD
+Nathaniel Hunt can confirm. did jerk off to this trailer
the scene that they used that song in I was laughing my ass off seeing all Krall's men holding their ears in pain
Magic Carpet Ride in First Contact was pretty good but yea Sabotage is the better scene.
its hip hop
what if that someone it would be a plot point in a star trek film?
seriously though don't judge a movie by its trailer.. THIS MOVIE IS THE BEST THAN THE FIRST AND THE SECOND ONE.. really loved the all the actions and this music .. believe me.. that was one of the important part in this movie..
Who the hell chose the music?
I did
+ByChoiceMuslim Its the same song from the beginning of the first movie.
+Mmmm7ii Yuhh that explains a lot. lol :P
Are you referring to that awful noise? It is the worst that I have ever heard.
Sabotage by the BeastieBoys
Man I can't wait for Fast Trek: Beyond & Furious!
+Naheem Quattlebaum Beyond belief. The original fans will be... beyond furious at this heresy.
+Naheem Quattlebaum Fast Trek four: Furiously going faster than light
+Naheem Quattlebaum you never had me, you never had your ship
+Naheem Quattlebaum giggled
+Naheem Quattlebaum Well done.
To all the haters who haven't seen the movie, I think you need to watch this to apprreciate the music.
What is the name of the rock music?
+Stratoship lee Sabotage.
It's Beastie Boys, man! How come they don't love it? What the? >_
+J Gee It's them who hated it.
I hope this movie its half as good as music is.
I didn't expect the MUSIC would be the best thing in the movie
I thought this was a terrible choice at first but now it all makes so much sense!
ITS JUST A PRANK!
Same
+ZexusXI (CHANNEL REVAMP) brah
+ZexusXI (CHANNEL REVAMP) HAN. (If someone gets that reference I love you.)
+ZexusXI (CHANNEL REVAMP) I WISH!
+ZexusXI (CHANNEL REVAMP) You smaht
The last movie ended with the promise that they would finally be exploring the universe and literally the first thing they do is destroy the Enterprise?
There's not a lot of trekking in this reboot universe.
+Syrus7sk Well, you know they brought Khan in the second movie, so I guess it's "normal" to destroy the Enterprise in the third...
+Syrus7sk guess the'll loose their security deposit on the ship
+133col Does that mean I can look forward to whales in the next one?
Its fucking annoying. Its like how many times does the enterprise have to be destroyed. Who in their right mind would let Kirk captain a ship he destroys the enterprise over and over again.
Just saw the film. Got why this song was used in the trailer! ;)
The song was also used in Star Trek (2009).
It was used so well in the movie
I believe it is
The best Trek movie of the 3 by far, yet they put out by far the worst trailer.
Simon Pegg Is Why I watch this Series !!!
+Mohamed Ahmed sounds about right to me.
Dear Paramount, did you know that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a big fan of the original Star Trek series? Also, did you know that Dr. Stephen Hawking once had a cameo on Star Trek the Next Generation? These things were possible because the series stood for a principle that a society is united and work together in the future, dedicating their lives toward the pursuit of scientific discoveries and the betterment of humanity. In my opinion, if your "franchise" no longer wish to represent these ideas, then please just leave the word Star Trek out of your films and show some respect toward Gene Roddenberry.
Totally agree.
+Ian G My feelings towards this trailer completely.
What I'm really confused by is, who is this marketed to, because the people this looks to be marketed towards wouldn't like Star Trek and the Star Trek fans won't like it, so wouldn't it be best for them to leave out the Star Trek name?
+Humza Ali I beg to differ. I've been a Star Trek fan for almost all of my life, and I wholeheartedly like the new direction. One, people dont like it because it's got more action. So? yo're looking for a draw. But it does NOT steer completely away from Roddenberry's vision. There's things there. I like the idea of an alternate reality, which is what we're depicting here. New, different orld. The old crew was not going to last forever, and Star Trek needs to be kept alive. So don't make the broad based assumption that "the Star Trek fans won't like it.' I LOVE IT.
+riftrunner
I respect your opinion because we are all citizens of the Federation.
+riftrunner I respect it, but wholeheartedly disagree with it. Jar Jar Abrams reboot rather then a sequel was a massive disappointment. Want more action and speed fine have it but you can do it better then this hollow shell that JJ has made. And JJ's directing style of using "short cut" plot devices like his mobile teleportation device khan used in Into Darkness was was among the worst writing and disrespect to a franchise I have seen.....
What the fuck is this, this is not star trek...
wrong, its the 99 cents version of it xD
Welcome to 2015. Your Star Trek is dead.
+Edgar Diaz
"yes, yes it is"
as he cries into his tea, earl grey, hot.
Thank God.
+ZeroTrookaz The more I watch it the shittier it looks. So actiony! the first remake I thought was great. I like the color pallet in this trailer, but everything else is shitty.
This might have been the best of all the Star Trek reboot movies.
Abrahams really likes the jumpy offy of a moving thingy to a ledgy and barely making it scenes.
Abrams didn't direct this
What does JJ Abrams have to do with anything?
+S&S Pictures it says from producer jj abrahams, so he has some part in the movie
+S&S Pictures in 1:34
0h_mur _gurd - Producers don't do much. They help fund the movie, and get it out there, but that's about it. Producer don't do much in the creative process.
i LOVE star trek but this trailer is just terrible. the director seems to forget the sci-fi genre of this film..
+Alex Coreable nowadays "sci fi" is can be nothing more than a setting, not a plot device. How many times over the last 20 years have you been watching a "sci fi" movie then realized you are actually watching a love story/action thiller/psychological thiller/etc. that happens to be set in the future/space/alternate past/etc.? sci fi seems to be dead. i will watch star wars and this but my expectations are very low.
they are trying to be like guardians of the galaxy which is a bad idea
It's about family. Oh wait wrong franchise.
+Alex Coreable feels like a cheesy spoof.
+Robert Jack would you recommend me an actual sci fi movie
Has Justin Lin actually watched an episode of Star Trek before?
+pinoi78 Considering the movie is taking place almost 90 percent on a planet, then yes, yes he probably has.
+pinoi78 Simon Pegg (big Star Trek fan) wrote the script.
+pinoi78 I see cheesy humor, big dumb action sequences, hints that suggest that most of the action will be on an alien planet. Yeah i'd say that he's seen an episode of Star Trek.
Well the song used in the trailer was in the first Star Trek movie.......
It seem more like the tv show then the last two did they both felt like thenoriginal movies
I loved all three Kelvin Star Trek. ❤ MORE!!!
RIP Anton Yelchin, you'll be missed. :(
I can't believe they played this trailer in the commercials right before Star Wars 7 was about to start...
+CRF X
Not in my theater :(
+Chitchatjf2 that's a good thing ! Why would you want to see a Star Trek trailer right before watching Star Wars 7 ? Lol
+CRF X Why not. I'm a big fan of both but I lean more towards Trek. Star Wars is a one night stand....Star Trek is a life long love affair. While Star Trek 1 and 5 were pretty bad they still never sunk as low as the 3 shit stains that Lucas put out last decade. Thank God JJ has brought it back. But the 09 Trek and Into Darkness were both excellent.
+CRF X They have to show something before the movie, the only similarity between Star Wars and Star Trek is the first word in the title.
+CRF X Star Wars SUCKS, but Star Treck Rocks!
Why the hell would they choose that song for this trailer? Made me feel like I was watching a comedy. SMH
+Tom Pen Listen to those lyrics. They want us to know what theyre doing to the franchise.
+Tom Pen That song was in the first movie while Kirk was driving his step father car... Still the trailer looks weird
+Tom Pen J.J. Abrams is actually a big Beastie Boys fan and uses their music in a lot of his films. In fact one of the new aliens in the Star Wars films has his name taken from a Beastie Boys Album.
+Cerdwin Carter Yah I'm sure itll be great, but I need to see a second trailer. They need to make one with the bomb ass theme. The music choice was pretty horrible for this trailer.
Well for continuity... Since Kirk liked that song as a kid, as it was playing in the first film during his grand theft auto chase with the Cop.
Whoo!!!!! This movie was amazing! 10/10 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I know! I just saw it today :)
I was great, but I thought some scenes, especially ones in space and on space stations and on planets, lacked a physicalness that was seen in The Force Awakens. It is a shame, because it didn't look convincingly real. They did look slightly like they were computer generated.
Agreed.. and why it it that every ST Movie now has to destroy the Enterprise?
+Chris Hanley The Enterprise has only been destroyed in Generations and this one.
I guess you missed "The Search for Spock" as well?
This is one of these trailers that get better after you see the movie.
Star Trek IV: Directed by Uwe Boll...
+bitandres Star Trek V: Directed by Robert Rodriguez! :D
+BaneofGalaxy That probably wouldn't be too bad.
+bitandres Let's pray that never happens.
+bitandres directed by michael bay
+bitandres So on the plus side,I guess that means there's a new STAR TREK video game coming soon.
This is what happens when you give the guy who wrote and directed the recent fast and furious movies Star Trek. JJ Abrams clearly didn't do this as he was doing star wars
+Alfredo Gallo Abrams never tried to make it feel like the old Star Trek shows or movies, he tried to do his own thing.
+TakenByMafia no, he dumbed down Trek to appeal to the Star Wars crowd.
+CthulhuChow hahaha I'd have to say that's exactly what happened to me... I didn't like Star Trek but love Star Wars, saw the two new Star Trek movies and loved 'em!
don't kid yourself, Into Darkness was fucking garbage and had nothing to do with Star Trek too. Abrams is trash and can make nothing but uninspired, banal nostalgia-bait. TFA looks no different.
HAHAHA ahh you're funny, I actually looooved Into Darkness ... #donkillme ! :P
I think this one is the best movie yet from them. I want to watch it again really bad. It had me hooked really fast and it's really entertaining. Kudos for great humor moments and music
R.I.P Anton Yelchin... :(
A film about people jumping. Great.
+Damn Deal Done Lol!
+Damn Deal Done Yep, a direct sequel to a film about people shouting.
+Damn Deal Done Exactly, half of the trailer are people in the air :D
+Damn Deal Done 10 jumps, by my count.
its a trailer.......
Remember when Star Trek had deep stories with interesting characters and themes of morality and equality?
+Benjamin Jenkins Hope you enjoyed it because we're not likely to see that again.
Yes, I get that there's a market for these sorts of mindless action movies that only really use sci fi for spectacle I've just never understood why they had to destroy Star Trek, which was created as the opposite, to make one.
pepperidge farm remembers
Yeah I do, but that was then and this is now. You can either get with the program ( accept that and just not watch it ) or just go back to your corner and cry, since it obviously isn't changing ( as these films have done better at the box office than all the old version films ).
But there a those of us old fans who can actually appreciate the new stuff for what it is ( a different iteration of the Franchise that will bring in new fans and extend Star Trek's life, since change and variation is healthy for franchises to continue past their original form).
+Benjamin Jenkins Yeah, like that time space hippies hijack the ship and try to find Eden, or when those furry footballs started breeding everywhere. Oh wait, was Trek always supposed to be fun?
Best one of the trilogy. It ends the saga in a good way and it doesn't take itself too seriously
Despite the hugely mixed reaction this trailer got (which led to a shadow of doubt being cast over the movie's potential to deliver), this movie rocked and further proved that Star Wars isn't the only awesome outer space movie franchise out there. May many more sequels follow.
This is not Star Trek ... This is every other blockbuster action movie out there with a space theme.
+el. you all need to realise that they want to make this appeal to younger audience all you old fossils that are complaining that this has diverted from what star trek is about get with the times no young kid is going to watch all the old star trek and like it all they young ones want is lots of action
+el. Good. Those pre-Abrams Star Trek movies were getting terrible
+Timothy Germann The post-Abrams Star Trek movies are shit, too. It is not a movie franchise. Keep it on TV where it belongs.
equenoxe86 You say "most of them" like there have been more than 2 of these movies so far. The 1st one was more of a remake of the original Star Wars trilogy than Star Trek, and I couldn't be bothered to see the 2nd one. I'll ignore this one, too. There's plenty of room out there for some fresh new action sci-fi movies, so why the need to hijack the Star Trek name and turn it into this mess?
+el. Than you are not a person, but yet another drone joining the crowd of a tiresome debate...congratulations!
It's just the first trailer, I'm not worried.
+osbely all you need to be worried is the directors name...
+Singularity Bound
"all you need to be worried is the directors name"
What? It can't be that bad. Who is it? "Justin Lin"? Can't remember who that is.
Let's see, he directed some indie movie no one ever watched and Community - the TV show. That's... not exactly a stellar... Oh, wait! He directed... the Fast and Furious movies. But, oh, he must've only done the decent "heist" movi-
"DIRECTOR - The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift"
EJECT! EJECT! ABANDON SHIP! EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF!
+osbely the first step in denial!!!
+osbely Thank you. I was on the brink of having a panic attack until I saw your comment.
+osbely
Your face says otherwise.
Just watched Star Trek Beyond. It's an awesome movie! It's true Star Trek, with an original story, intellectually written, with still lots of great action scenes that will please both fans and the general viewer alike. Great movie!
I don’t understand why pistons hate it. I thought this was decent like the first two.
R.I.P Anton Yelchin.
The first star trek thing I ever watched was the 2009 movie and I loved it so much that I went back, bought and watched tos and the original movies, which I now adore. If these new movies, different as they are, attract new fans to the franchise then I really don't think there's anything wrong with that.
+Sarah Lewis you have no idea
+Sarah Lewis I agree with you. I actually saw TOS with my father when I was young and I actually was not quite fond of it. To be honest I thought it was a shitty show. Time went by and my friend suggested to see the new movie. Well fine okay let's do this shit, can't be that bad...and I loved it. Then I went back to TOS since it still airs on TV and I really started to appreciate it. I loved the humor and even the overacting of Shatner.
Still I also like the new movies. I just do not see them as the same thing.
Both are Star Trek to me, but both show different stories and different possibilities in the characters.
+Sarah Lewis It's the difference between star trek and star wars. star wars is an action adventure space opera with glowing swords and lots of shit blowing up, don't get me wrong not hating they do it well.
star trek is a science fiction space opera that runs at a slower pace with thoughtful stories and dialog, action in star trek should be rare.
+Sarah Lewis I'd say you could use diluted casual games as an anologue; civ revolution compared to the traditional civ entries is so diluted and broken down that it 'almost' breaks the idea entirely. You could get interested by playing it, but is it real civ? no. If it does that sort of good I would be happy. But man does Civ Rev suck.
+Sarah Lewis Good point. I was introduced to star trek by 2009 movie as well. Went back and watched old movies because of it.
If it wasn't for the 2009 one, I would have never come to like star trek.
1:06
Indeed, Jim, I'm perplexed too.
+crojonphoenix That was good lol
+crojonphoenix I'm perplex about those useless shields.
+Opinionator Factory At least they got the sexy alien female part right.
***** No they didn't. It doesn't count as a sexy alien female if it looks exactly human while its sexy.
***** I'm not a Japanese schoolgirl.
There's no Star Trek without Chekov... Rest in Peace Anton I miss you so much 💔
This movie was awesome
"Furious Guardians of the fast Galaxy (Star Trek Remix)"
+TheTuubster My thoughts exactly.
+TheTuubster Don't forget the Tyranids. Or bugs / zerg, whatever you want to call them.
+TheTuubster That's exactly what I thought - felt as if they were going for a Guardians of the Galaxy feel.
+TheTuubster GONE SEXUAL
+Talon3000 And like, a sexy space elf? I guess?
For U guys saying nimoy and gene are rolling in their graves for this. You guys are literally downers. Nimoy was in the new Star Trek back in 2009. He liked the new films. Gene wouldnt even care about these films. That's the truth. You guys are just looking to hate because it's not like the original 1960s or the old films. Get over it. And live long and prosper.
+Joan Cassie You are right , the old movies were good. This is shit!
+Joan Cassie I tend to agree for the most part. Star Trek is evolving like any other franchise. Star Trek with a modern sensibility is fun for me and I'm a fan of the classic series. I think people are generally resistant to change and wouldn't like these no matter what. I honestly think it wouldn't have made a difference if they were better than two or six. There would be this hate no matter what. Of course people will argue but I stand by that statement.
+Hezekiah Ramirez you are right people always try to find something to hate on. It's so boring that they always try to resist change and always want the same thing.
+Joan Cassie How much is Paramount paying you to say this? Do you make alot of money as a studio intern?
+Joan Cassie We resist bad change, this is bad change. Star Trek while cheesy at times has always been smart well written entertainment. It was slow paced drama with occasional fast paced action only when it was truly needed.
Now with the Bad Robot J.J. Abrams brand Star Shit, it is all pew pew action schlock that doesn't slow down even for sections where there should be some slow drama and conversations.
Star Trek is not about non-stop brainless action and explosions every few minutes.
never been much of a star trek fan but this trailer makes me want to become one, J.J. Abrams did a fantastic job with Star Wars 7 so i can't wait to see what he does with this too, would love to watch it.
"never been much of a star trek fan but"
That explains everything.
what? I do not understand?
What he is saying is that this isn't really Star Trek. It's like the two newest movies but if you watch any of the series it won't really be like this. A lot of fans of the original hate the three newest movies because they aren't like the Star Trek that we all know and love. While I understand, I personally like all Star Trek and embrace the fact that they are trying to bring in a new audience for a franchise which hasn't been reopened since 2001-2005 ("Star Trek: Enterprise", it is a prequel to Kirk and it's awesome).
The great thing about Star Trek is that they are so many things you can watch: if you like animations the animated series is for you, if you like a journey of trying to get home (the endless endeavour and raw determination) then Voyager is you for, if you like a man who has destiny thrust upon him then Deep space Nine is for you, if you love a man who doesn't follow the rules then The Original Series is for you and if you love exploration and the occasional ethical issue then Enterprise: Next Generation is for you. Moreover, you are still a Star Trek fan if you only watch one of them, if you only like the newest films then you are still a fan, if you watch everything to do with Star Trek then you are still a fan.
Unfortunately, Justin Lin is directing this movie. Not JJ Abrams.
Star Wars The Force Awakens was amazing. The first one was boring as hell but the latest was awesome and I can't wait for the next one.
This song MADE this movie!
Gene Roddenberry continues to spin in his grave.
+Lawrence Bader And his family continues to collect the checks..... :)
+Lawrence Bader Gene is currently doing Akuma's Ultra 2 from Street Fighter 4. And he can't stop.
+Lawrence Bader He's spinning so hard he's generating electricity.
+Lawrence Bader I was up to write exactly that . lol
+Lawrence Bader His so spin just broke the sound barrier
This trailer does a really good job of hiding what the movie is about. Every clip in it is from the first 20 minutes of the film. What the movie is actually about is tribbles enhanced by Kahn blood taking over the entire galaxy.
+MP197742, Yay!
+MP197742 _I, for one, welcome our new tribble overlords_
I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Thank you sir.
ak9k
Have uneven seen the movie because that sounds like bull s hit
May the 4th be with you! God I miss the light sabers from Star Trek, really badass weapons
remember the 17 year old guy in the first star trek movie? sadly,he passed away at the age of 27 in 2016. RIP we will miss u
What? No lens flares? WHAT MADNESS IS THIS?!
+Niksa Zrilic JJ didn't direct it this time.
+Niksa Zrilic Well Abrams aint directing...
+Frellyouall But judging by the Star Wars Trailers even he seems to have gotten rid of it
I was looking for the flares too! 😩 I'm so disappointed.
Well it is being directed by the Fast & Furious director..
I choose to believe this is just a marketing stunt for attracting non-fans and not representative of the actual movie...
The alternative is too depressing to contemplate.
+TheMothman001 I wouldn't call it optimism on my part. More like "naivety". =P The alternative isn't worth contemplating.
+Michael O'Connor that's exactly what it is. Like the trailer or not, trekkies are still going to see it anyway.
+Drew Spencer Eh... Im a huge star trek fan and this did nothing for me. If the next trailer is equally dissapointing, then Im not going to waste my time.
+Naughty Lookzz Have you seen Star Trek V?
+Drew Spencer Confirmed, I am trek fan and I will be seeing this movie. I play the Online game too. I will even say that I liked the first two new movies. As a trek fan it is not difficult for me to suspend the old universe in favor for the new one, at least in such a way as to acknowledge that there are two alternate timelines. The original series still happened, so did TNG and such, but at that same time this new universe also exists.
Hey, if I can believe for even one second the Star Trek explanation of dilithium crystals and warp drive then I can also believe the explanation they gave in the first new movie about the alternate timelines and how the new timeline was created when Nero and Spock travelled back in time, which actually makes more scientific sense than dilithium crystals making warp fields. Just saying.
"Well, THAT'S just typical!" Best line of the whole movie.
wow. a lot of people dislike this trailer.
+Tristanluke Robson IKR? And all of them are fools to me. >:(
+Wyatt Stone The new trailer is totally better though.
+Graystorm198 Personally I disagree. I feel the new one is lackluster and doesn't really excite me. Also it gives far more away which I'm never a fan of with trailers.
More likely, someone just genuinely disliked it early on and people bandwagon'd, or old fans aren't super into the slightly more palatable feel of these movies. I can understand people liking and feeling nostalgic about the old super cheesy movies but this trailer was right in line with all of the ones from the current series. The songs a callback to one of the first scenes from the first reboot movie. I'm not sure why so many people are saying it doesn't fit... (again, most likely just enjoying having something to collectively rag on).
its meh.
well see, people are praising it for staying true to the formula
Nerdom is hypocritical. They say they want something different/new then they say they want something the same and in the end the Movie studios give them a mix AKA the phantom of menace. This guy is doing something new for once props.
+kkknotcool Explosions and action, nothing new for Hollywood I'm afraid.
Except this isn't new. This is just a mission impossible trailer with a Star Trek backdrop.
+D3LTATRAX That's exactly what he's saying. You complain it's not new now, but just wait. Soon you'll be begging for the same.
***** Nobody will beg for it. FFS!!! Use your brain, people aren't complaining because they don't like this style in movies, it's because they're using it in a Star Trek movie which makes it look like a big joke. It goes better with movies like Guardians of the Galaxy
IBriansit0
Most Star Trek movies have been action movies. The themes and drama goes on TV, and a new season is confirmed.
