  • Today I’m helping my buddy Keith Fearnow with a yoga photo shoot. Keith is mainly a natural light shooter, so for this shoot, I was hired as just his lighting guy, and Keith is doing the photography.
For this photoshoot, we are using the YogaSix logo on the wall as our main backdrop. I’m using a Godox AD 400 Pro in a Paul C Buff 64” Soft Silver PLM™ Umbrella, and the diffusion sock. A Godox AD 400 Pro with a 35” round soft box. Double diffused with a grid. And some Godox AD200 Pros scattered about the room.
The equipment used in my videos is a mixture of Godox, Neewer, and Flashpoint.
    Main Filming gear:
    Sony a6400 - amzn.to/2TsS0d9
    Atomos Ninja Inferno - amzn.to/3mtfz1L
    Rode NTG4+ - amzn.to/31Pzwb9
    Zoom H6 - amzn.to/2G56ltb

Looks great! I have a shoot coming up in a studio with no windows and this has helped me feel super confident going into it!

I was scared it wasnt going to look soft and inviting but damn you guys nailed it! Without the behind the scene we would be thinking its all natural light! Mayne even with the behind the scene my brain is still say its natural light ! LOL! I love it manye! Amazingly great job!

Incredible Soft Light (you might call it North ligh>?) , you litereally converted a dark Yoga studio to a natural light reserve and I think the multiple lights bouncing helped a lot. Austin I would be interested in the ratios that you used in this one

Thank ya kindly! I don’t really pay attention or keep track of my ratios. I start with the first light, power it up or down till I get the exposure where I like it when viewing the image on the camera. Turn on the second light power it up or down, so on and so forth till I get all the lights looking the way I like.
This shoot all the power settings will be different based on the modifier, distance to subject, etc. But, I did my best to set them at a level that made the light look fairly even on camera.

Great job with the lighting. I couldn’t imagine trying to do this photo shoot without lighting. Nothing against natural light but why edit more than you have too.

Haha I'm horrible at natural light, so I can't imagine doing any photoshoot without lighting. XD

Very good I was hoping to see this kind of video as Photographer and Yoga instructor. As a photographer, I am struggling with new ideas when it comes to Yoga possing. In this video, it would be nice if the location or background would have more colors, or maybe even the yoga mat color is more contrasty, probably some Yoga tools like Yoga block could improve the photo.

Sorry to disappoint. As I mentioned, this was a fun shoot for their Christmas party. Since it wasn't a full-on production we had to work within the location color and equipment limitations we had at that time. :)
