  • I thought I might show a few of my rail buses that I do have, along with a few pages of my 1971 Flieschmann catalogue. These models, although not strictly to scale, are low maintenance and smooth running.

Hey Carl, Thanks mate. They are very good runners and very easy to maintain. They glide around the track and handle points like they aren't there. Steven.

Hey Alfred, thanks for watching. It's really appreciated. I enjoy model railroading, some of the models provide a challenge to repair and restore. Steven.

These rail buses are very nice. I had considered buying a set, but I was put off by the price, so I opted to build my own using a Lima 2 axle diesel shunter chassis. I've got a couple of Fleischmanns, a baggage car/brake and a 2 axle coach, both with internal lights and diecast chassis.

@patricksmodels Hi Patrick, I have a soft spot for the rail buses and early diesel powered multiple units. Qld Rail used to run 2 and 3 car sets when I was young. They looked like Budd cars, but were a bit smaller. We called them silver bullets, but they were as slow as a wet week. I hope you give your Lima build a run, I would like to see it. Steven.

@@stevenpeaketrainsandstuff3682 I've just made a few posts on my scratch built railbus and railcar tagging you. I've also got a soft spot for these diesel trains. I've travelled on Romanian CFR Class 77 Malaxa railbuses and on the Italian private railway OM railcars (and on the Aln 668s) between Udine and Cividale del Friuli when I was in the Italian army in 1997/98.

I've got a few Fleischmann engines and they all run lovely. It's no wonder early Hornby copied that motor. I have no railbuses though but will look out at future train fairs. Thanks for the brief look at a catalogue too.

I have to get a better lectern. The bloody thing I was using started to fall apart as I turning the pages of the catalogue. I will have another crack at showing the whole catalogue though. There is some nice coaches and rolling stock in it as well. I hope you find one of the railbuses mate, they are a nice thing to have and run like a dream. Steven.

Hi Steven, its always interesting to see these old cataloques and the range of Locos Fleischmann produced. You really have an amazing collection. These Fleischmann Rail Buses are great runners, They are smooth and much quieter than I thought, these motors are very well made and will last for many years to come. The paintwork is in good condition for their age, and the repainted blue one looks good in its new colors. Thanks for sharing these classic models, looking forward to seeing more of them. Cheers, Paul.👍👍👍

I have a few rail buses and cable cars Paul, they remind me of the rail motors that ran on my line back when I was a kid. We called them silver bullets due to their appearance, definitely not their speed. I think they had 3 gears, and definitely sounded like a bus. But we loved them, it was a novelty to ride in them. I love the old catalogues, it's like a journey back in time when you read through them. As for the Fleischmann motors, they are fantastic performers. They are easy to service and draw very little power, and have excellent speed control. Hope the foot is getting better mate. Steven.

Hi Steven, I only have one Diesel Railcar made by Lima. The origionals were fitted with 2 Diesel Truck motors in the 50s and were apparently popular as there was access for prams, bikes etc. I really like to see these model Trams and Railcars from various manfacturers. I also have some old cataloques its fascinating to see what was available back 50 to 60 years ago.
I have found Lima/Hornby Ringfield motor brushes and springs fit perfectly in the Fleischmann and Kleinbahn Locos and they run a lot smoother with better starting performance. I had a Kleinbahn shunter with a bad copper mesh type brush and tried the lima brushes that cured the problem. Still having pain in my left ankle but just have to limp on regardless.
      Cheers, Paul.

@paulvozman842 Hi Paul, I have a few of the Lima GWR diesel rail buses. One is named Express Mail I think. The other is either green or Maroon coloured. I forgot I had them until you mentioned yours. I will have to dig around to find them. They are great runners.

@@stevenpeaketrainsandstuff3682Hi Steven, my GWR Railcar is No22, sounds like you have all the various liveries.
Mine is a bit sluggish after being in the drawer for months, it runs quite well when warmed up but is a jerky starter. Its a candidate for a 12V CD motor one day.
Good if you show yours running.
      Cheers, Paul.
