It’s a cicada kind of year alright!
I’m sure that BB 400 will keep on running in someone’s car.

    Save what you can

Should save the transmission crossmember. It’s a double hump one for dual exhaust that bolts onto the 75-77 cars that only had a single hump. Obviously save the 400. That’s a desirable block. The Turbo 400 transmission is worthwhile. Didn’t see if the trim around the quarter glass was decent but 73 was the only year they were stainless steel. 74-77 were plastic. The header panel is a 1 year only piece as are the bumpers and rear valance and taillights. Also since it had a heated back glass, that giant alternator is probably an 80 amp and are difficult to find these days. There are probably other 1 year only parts on it which should be saved if you scrap it. Definitely keep all the rally wheels.

I am definitely the saver - everything that can be will be saved and forwarded to who needs it.
      Thanks for all the info!

@@canadianwrench Thanks. Mid 70s GM Colonnade cars are my favorite cars. Especially the GP. They don’t get the love they deserve. Looks like it maybe too far gone since there’s little aftermarket support for these. But there’s definitely some good parts on there. I would think someone would appreciate them in the future.

There’s a few bad spots on the frame. But a mostly complete donor - good for someone that has a perfect body.
I revived it years ago and then it got parked and neglected.
I love those old 70s beasts. I drove so many.

@@canadianwrench Bad frame definitely the end of the road. That fate claimed my 76 Toronado. Funny thing is the floors on that car were clean enough to eat off of. Had it fixed twice but kept rotting out in the same place. I paid $750 for it in 92 and drove it for about 13 years as a winter beater. I live in the rust belt. Miss that car dearly. Good luck with your projects.

      Wow - 13 years! Fantastic!!
Yeah I’m in the rust belt too.
      Thanks again for your comments.
Great to hear from other Gearheads!

That’s not the original mileage. That instrument cluster is from a 75-77 because it has a 100 MPH speedometer. 73-74 had a 120 MPH speedometer. I’ve owned quite a few GM cars of this era. The square key was for the ignition and the round key did the doors, trunk and glove box. Never saw one that the square key opened the door.

    • @canadianwrench
      @canadianwrench  Před 3 měsíci

Mileage should be accurate - I bought from the original owner in the mid 80s.
I will look into instrument cluster too.
      Thanks for input.

I had a 73 model J with the 455 in it triple red in the mid 80s I miss that car . It was an awesome car and I did some serious burnouts with it. I beat my friends 67 350 chevelle with it and I remember he was pissed. It was such a cool car

They are an awesome car! I never really got to enjoy this one. A month after owning the low oil pressure light came on.
I replaced the engine over time (400ci) but it need saw the road again.
Those Pontiac engines sure can produce the Horsepower!!

@@canadianwrench That's a shame you never got to really have fun with it. I had mine about 2 years and it was a great cruiser and a really fast car for it's size before an idiot pulled out in front of me making an illegal left turn and at the time it wasn't worth it for me to fix it. I bought a really nice ⁹1970 Roadrunner for $100 to replace it that I had for about 8 years but that's another story for a different occasion.

It’s rough at the inner hood hinge area.
