I mean...it literally did. She wasn't the great spy everyone made of her and she got killed. 🤷♂️
Remember it's only gay if you make eye contact ...
She failed to get any useful information, and was killed shortly into her ops, but was the greatest spy of all time 😂😂😂
*female spy
For real
Well as we learned from Zoolander, male models make good spies because they're really, really good looking, and people like them. I suspect the same applies to exotic dancers.
Really, really, RIDICULOUSLY good looking! Lol
Long cringe
But why male models?
😂
You watched Zoolander and _learned_ something?
Crikey, that's an embarrassing thing to admit to in public!
Man I love your puns. Best storyteller alive you are!
Hell yea I agree. A close second is Mr Ballen… both are great storytellers. Thoughty 2 is way more entertaining and funny. Mr Ballen tells serious tales and ghost stories.

@@chezoneinfamous4379 Are you a fan of the strange, dark, and mysterious delivered in story format?
@@deehinker1848 of course
I'm pretty sure he doesn't write the scripts all by himself but I agree he's really good at telling stories.
Wow--if her father was a hatter, even before her family fell apart she would have had a rough time, right from the start. You couldn't make hats in those days without absorbing mind-boggling amounts of mercury (literally mind-boggling--it drove hatters mad.) So her life must have been chaotic and traumatic from birth.
I just explained to someone the other day why in Alice in wonderland the characters name was Mad Hatter. Interesting story that a lot of people just don’t know or haven’t heard of
@@cholieandresa It's also a saying: "as mad as a hatter". I don't know if that saying was derived from Alice in Wonderland or that it was used before the book was written.
@@cholieandresalike Mona Lisa’s and mad hatters - Elton John
All of this is nigh common knowledge by this point.
@@Ozymandias1 It was used before the book was written and inspired the character in Alice in Wonderland.
I love your channel man, these past days I’ve been absolutely binging your content. Please keep ‘em coming
Seen em’ all, this guys is my first click when he drops.
LOL absolutely same! I just wish there was more I could watch by him 😂
Same 😅
Easy, you can get through them quick. Fortunately they're worth going back to listen again in between uploads.
Me too 😂
The puns are unmatched in this video 😂😂😂
Simp
They don't really mata.
@@MartijnMcFlythat pun sounds like it was made in a hari.
The injection of that British humour into historical retelling makes it that more enjoyable. 👏👏
To think she was immortalized in type-moon's fate as a cheery but seductive assassin class heroic spirit.
That's where i know her. :D
Lol Fate is such utter fucking trash ass garbage... 🤣 It would have been MUCH better off staying as the trashy hentai visual novel it originally was (aka the story was about as important as any other story in porn... as in not at all beyond being a scaffolding to wrap the sex scene payoff's around) than getting high on its on supply and deciding it actually WASN'T the schlocky "Choose Your Own Adventure, but Porn!" it was and instead some deep, quality story strong enough to support a MASSIVE franchise. 🤷
Without the sex scenes Fate's narrative is about as strong and enjoyable as any other porn movie with the sex scenes ripped out. Aka, not at all. (The only partial exception to this being when Ufotable realized that Fate's story is absolutely fucking trash and cannot support itself, and thus tried to replace all the sex with legitimately insane fight scene choreography instead in UBW.)
Fr even before clicking on the video I knew that the video is going to he about her just by reading the title
@@rias.gremoryyyanyone who played fgo would know who that spy exotic dancer is.
true
Many thanks from this Dutch viewer of your channel. Your video did her life's story more justice than most others.
You have a unique way of story telling. Always capturing the hearts of the listeners
Always a good day when Thoughty2 uploads
0:15 I still think Marques has more gadgets than a spy. Fight me.
This guy jhus said they have more gadgets than marques brownlee😂😂😂😂
i just realized it was 0:11 not 0:15, a few seconds earlier @@umarsean5846
Mr. Brownlee is one of those who has almost all of the toys in life, and that's why Thoughty used him to compare to these fictional movie spies. Please recognise a compliment, God, this world really is not ready for beautiful people. Fight over what?? Grammar? Bless your soul.

Wonderful episode, Thoughty2! I've missed quite a few of yours in the last few months; will need to spend some time catching up; I always enjoy them!
Another perfectly done video by the ageless wonder that is Thoughty2. Great video as always. Thanks for all the great videos and information over the years. Class act if there ever was one. Also the horizontal diplomacy comment killed me lol.
Riveting as usual. It's been a while since I've tuned in, only to find a treasure chest. Exciting topics, Brilliant narration, excellent puns and witty to boot! Thanks!
Fantastic telling of this story, thank you!
I am enjoying some of your video's this morning and I'd like to thank you; for telling the stories in a way that it's possible for me to follow along, even though my eyesight doesn't work too well anymore.
I loved your whole presentation for this video! It's excellent. The accent is adorable, too.
Wow your sence of humor never fails us. Thank you very much for all your input. I just love the way you tell the stories.. May you be blessed with many more happy years of story telling.... 😅😅
This is an excellent piece of research. I love the clear reasoning and even handed way you deal with facts. Thank You.
Youre storytelling is amazing!
i haven’t watched your vids in so long. looking great buddy. glad to be back here
4:44 That's part of getting divorced. I had to do something like that when I go divorced in the mid 1970's. Post a notice in the local paper, personal section, "I am no longer responsible for any debts other than my own" It's just what you did in 1975.
Seriously look forward to new videos from you! I have already binge your entire channel ❤
Poor Daisy!*
* The stage name she took seems to have been a play on her real name: 'Eye of the Day' ( _mata hari_ in Indonesian), is of course the English etymological root for 'daisy' ( _marguerite_ in French, _Margerite_ in German).
Exceptionally well done and told. Thank you and forward to others. Tom.
Mata Hari does literally mean “eye of the dawn/day”, but in modern Indonesian/Malay it simply means the sun. You’ll be very familiar with her name if you ever get into the language 😌
I drank 2 beers, and I eat a bowl of popcorn while watching Matahari story. Even my schnauzer Bingo, was glue to the screen and watched quietly. Keep up the good work sir 🍻
Just when I thought this channel couldn't get any better you uploaded this episode! Much love from New Orleans - keep rocking on!
Well done, thanks for sharing
Amazing mini documentary!!
Growing up in the Netherlands, I only ever learned of Margaretha Zelle (MataHari) as a war hero 🤔 Several streets and bridges are name after her too 🤗
Her life was very sad.
She really got the shaft. (many times)
The hard end of the stick, as they say...
She got rogered royally 🙃
Ba Da Boom!
Danm😂😂😂😂😂
One of the most saddest stories in history. A woman living in a world where women were treated as objects. A world where women didn't have any choice of freedom or happiness. Forced to either lie, cheat, give eternal servitude to a man, or sell their body just to survive. Pushed around and used by other people until her usefulness ran out. And then discarded like trash. A shame to everyone involved at that time.
Your forgetting there was tons of Normal people living normal lives even back then.
She choose her path and forged it. She could've married a chill farmer dude and lived a longer fullfilling life.
I like how we take all the accountability off the woman.
She was a product of a broken home and became part of the statistic.
The only real tragedy here was She didn't have a good stable family.
Just like John Dillonger did the things he did she choose the things She wanted to do. Choices have Consequences.
Alot of people didn't recieve due process like her during the war time.
Ahh.. the good old days.
@@roshill2010 you are literally saying that she should have given her life to a man. no matter what occupation that man would have had, it would have been the exact same thing, she would have been financially and socially dependant on that man thanks to the laws and society back then.
What’s changed
Have you given any thought to the soldiers experience ?
Loved the clip. Especially the necrophilac Crack at the end😅
Pretty sure it wasnt in the 1990's at 5:14 🤣
Hey
Ervin here😁
I love what you do and watched all your video back since you’ve started , keep the good work up 💪🏻
I also would like to point out that around 5:17 in the video you’ve mentioned Paris in the 19 hundreds but it shows 1990’s instead
I just want to help to get it corrected 😇
All the best mate
"He would have had a harder job convincing a fish to stop swimming." lmao okay Douglas Adams
Great video!
wow, great content as always. very interesting story of a woman who lived a very tragic and dangerous life. Thank you
It seems like she did what she could to survive. I wonder how anxious it made her behind the scenes. I feel she really needed looking after and to feel safe.
Your biggest fan from Kenya 🇰🇪 I look forward to every new video. Thank you 😊
🎉 Brilliant ! Love it !!🎉
Thank you! 🎉❤❤❤❤
Thank you for this more-in-depth story than I was told in my youth. I was never curious about Mata Hari enough to even google her, but there was lingering curiosity. I believe you have sated that curiosity.
WELL DONE. MY EXWIFE FROM ICELAND HAD A BOUTIQUE IN REYKJAVIK CALLED MATA HARI - I SENT HER A LINK TO YOUR FABULOUS STORY
Don't capitalize your comments, unless you can't read the letters...in which case I pray you find some readers! Everyone feels like your comment is shouted
great video again. such a coool and valuable chanel.
Wooo! New Thoughty2!
Nailing it this year!
I think the mata hari translate is not quite accurate.
Matahari as a single word mean sun, but mata is eyes and hari means days. So its more eyes of the day hence a sun rather than dawn. Dawn in Indonesian is fajar or dini hari (early in days).
I had heard of her but didn't know the details of her life...and what a life! She was very brave - and ironically for one so desired, ultimately alone. Thanks Aaron - really enjoyed her story...and the plethora of puns. 😂😂😂
Great video, as always 🎉🎉
My father picked me up from school today, and he brought my phone. I really hope he didn’t look at my notifications, because I’d really hate it if he looked and saw : Why was history’s greatest whatever was an erotic dancer.
A Thoughty2 video before work? Lets goooooo 🔥
“Greatest spy”
Got caught and executed by a firing squad…
Guess the benchmark isn’t too high! 🤣
Let's be honest the greatest spy will never be known and happy about it.
Feels like hes insulting her making fun of her life with that titlte
With all the double entendres.... well, this just might be your masterpiece.
The first time I heard about this fascinating woman was through a game called Identity V (as all of the game's character's are inspired by historical figures), so it's really cool to get her true condensed story here. I was honestly shocked when I saw the name Margaretha Zelle show up and got instantly excited lol
What's the Mata?
There are more jokes lately. Love it
10:59 Can we all agree that 'travelling to Madrid' just sounds like something horizontal diplomats would do?
Top notch as always 42, and before I get comments, I know, but unless you know, then you'll probably comment. Brilliant vlog.

What a beautiful way for your pronunciation of french words at 5:30 😍
(Living in Quebec, I should know )🤔🤔🤔
As an MKBHD fan who loves Thoughty2, I loved that high-tech reference.
GREAT VIDEO
Beautifully told!
The wink at the end of video makes me happy every time!
I guess you could say “It's a killer moves”
Something lovely was created in the space between British and American pronunciation. I initially heard "sworded sexuality" (about 13:50), instead of "sordid sexuality". Thank you.
This was a good video.
Very tragic tale.
I dont know anyone else who changes their video title as many times as you do I always happen to notice it to maybe it's because I started to look for it with you but I find it funny lol
Great Video... like everytime
Great video
I absolutely love your content, but why have you stopped updating your playlists?
Such a tragic story, masterfully told.
She was the scapegoat. Sounds familiar.
Fascinating history.
A video about Yukio Mishima would be surreal..!
thoughty2 puns are in the class of their own!!!
this sir, is your best video
Loved when Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano) portrayed Mata Hari in Used Karma episode (Season 06 Episode 13 - Used Karma❤
Great video.. I think the graphic says 1990's, not 1900's.
Wow, I'm truly impressed by the top-notch quality of your video production! 🎥💫
Thank you so much for consistently delivering valuable content that's both enjoyable to watch and informative.
Keep up the fantastic work, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next! 👏👍
Finally a video on one of my favorite characters(persons) in history.
Yes I saw her spying on me in my room last night
"They have access to more high-tech gadgets than Marcus Brownlee" 00:11 is just too good lmao
Funny to see a video about her. She was born pretty close to where i live/was born so she is pretty known here and many know her story
I like your channels!
This one was really good 👏
Best content on CZcams are on this channel.
Why do they change the title of the video?
Seen that elsewhere too.
To get more clicks. The algorithm is weird.
Great video.
5:15 Don't think that was the early 1990's 😂
One of the best channel on CZcams 🔥
Thank you! No one talks about the injustices Mata Hari faced in death.
Men want women to be beautiful and sexy, but also punish them for it. 🤬
oh please :D
@@Flaschenteufel Just proved OP's point.
@@vishakhabh.6341 that she seems to be a sad careworn meatbag? for sure she is with that view on all men.
I dislike blanket statements about anything. It's the same feeling you probably get when someone sees a video of a bad driver who just happens to be a woman and someone comments "women can't drive" even if they don't mean you.
@@vishakhabh.6341 So wait... You mean that by saying, "oh please", Flasch "proved OP's point"? But OP's point was, "Men want women to be beautiful and sexy, but also punish them for it." Wanna explain which part of "oh please" proves... ANY POINT? Much less that VERY specific point? I'm honestly asking if you think that what you wrote makes any sense.
5:15
I did not know that in early 1990s, they still rode horses in Paris :D
3:55 I want to add a minor correction. Mata Hari translated literally should be "Eye of the Day", not just dawn time. But the actual translation of "Matahari" is the Sun.
Fascinating 👍
Just found you.. awesome
