    Thanks so much! I'm a pattern maker myself, and at times I forget how to do the actual sewing part 😅 loved the comment about not backstitching the darts, and the bit about gathering the sleeves! 🥰

    You're amazing, I'm love with your videos. I started learning how to sew by machine in 2020 and my horizons are more open to patterns and projetos because of you. Before, I just sew simple things because i made all by hand. Now, with your videos, I feel more confident to explore more. And, of course, to take better care of my projets because your videos are so detailed. I love it

    This was a really great pattern, and I completed it without any major problems! I am a verrryyyyy beginner, never made a peice of clothing before. I will say, the instructions were a little bare and maybe could use a little more explanation for the super super beginners. But all in all, it was a great pattern! I love my new dress!

    You make the most beautiful projects! I love your black dress with the flowers! It's lovely! You are quite the seamstress. I used to so close for our children all the time but haven't many years. Our daughter bought me a sewing machine for Christmas. I had three sewing machines however I lost them in a house fire. Everybody was fine but I did miss my sewing machine. So she brought me a brother sewing machine. I'm just getting used to it again and I hope that I can adjust your patterns because I am bigger than your pattern. It is just so difficult to find beautiful fabric and if you do the price is extremely high. So I hope to follow your links for fabric and see how we do. I have a question do you only wear dresses because looking at your wardrobe it looks like you only wear dresses?

    I love this tutorial, it's been very helpful to look at this before I start sewing. Apologies if I have not understood the instructions well, but please someone correct me if I got it wrong - the 1cm seam allowance is included in the pattern so I should cut out the pattern size that fits me on the fabric (i.e. no need to cut out an extra 1cm around the pattern on the fabric)? This is the first ever dress I'll be sewing.

    Hi there - loving this easy to follow pattern and video. I'm having some difficulty with the skirt. I have seemed to created a skirt which is too small. When I look back at the pattern it says to cut the front on the fold and 2 pieces for the back? I'm so confused and can't work it out from the video. Please could someone help me to understand the skirt pieces and how they fit together!

    • @RoseryApparel
      @RoseryApparel  Před rokem +1

      Hi Rosie! Thanks for purchasing my Rosa pattern 🧡 Yes that’s correct, the skirt front template should be cut out on the fold of your fabric, and then the same rectangle template (the same as the skirt front) should be cut not on the fold but instead in two pieces of fabric for the skirt back. This is because the skirt back has a centre seam where the zip will go. If you are still confused, send me an email at hello@roseryapparel.com and I’ll send you a diagram of what I mean!

I’m used to seeing two notches for the back and notch for the front on the sleeve piece with corresponding notches on the armhole of the bodice front and bodice back so you can tell which sleeve is which. And I’m also having difficulty on the zipper when I get to the bottom. I was hoping that you would slow down on this video and show how to sew the bottom of the zipper.

    Hi! I am currently trying to make this dress and I’m cutting out the pieces, and I can’t wrap my brain around the skirt piece. I’m not sure how to cut it out. From what the pattern looks like. The skirt of the dress is 3 pieces? I’m very confused

    • @RoseryApparel
      @RoseryApparel  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi there! Yes, the skirt is made up of three pieces. For the front, cut the template out on the fold, and for the back cut two of the template (not on the fold). The two back pieces are joined together when the zip is attached 😊

    I have never sewn before but with all of this quarantine stuff going on and working in a retail store, I would really love to learn!! I’m 17 so definitely have time! I was planning on buying the singer talent for my first machine. Is there any supplies I absolutely need so I don’t forget anything?

    • @kirstine8286

      Once you have a machine, you can do a lot with fabric, thread, pins and a scissors! If you have an iron at home to do the pressing with, that's great, and will help your seams and hems turn out more neatly. :) And then of course whatever notions (buttons, zippers, elastic, etc.) your particular pattern calls for. There are so many super easy projects that you can do to get started, and lots of youtube tutorials. Happy sewing!!

      Brooke Carmichael Quarantine is the perfect time to sew, it’s so addicting! You definitely need a seam ripper, it’ll become your best friend 😂 it might come with your sewing machine. Also: some high quality fabric scissors, pins and clips (they really come in handy with delicate fabrics, in general I prefer them to pins) and some fabric marker pens (a light and a dark chalk pencil will do).
      Also, if you really feel like sewing is your thing, get a rotary cutter and cutting mat! It’ll change your life, trust me! So much faster and accurate! Have fun!

      @Brooke Carmichael: As someone who has seen for over 50 years, I just did research on the Singer Talent machine and I wouldn’t recommend it, even with good reviews. Singer has a drop in bobbin and many times it is very frustrating because it tangles up while it is winding the thread on. I learned on one of these. Janelle uses a Brother and I have heard good things about Brother machines and they are inexpensive. I love my old Bernina. I have a post about it on my website. Have fun sewing!!

    Hi Janelle, quick question! Is it ok to use a cotton jersey fabric to make this dress? (10% stretch- I have some handy :) )? Is there anything you would change then, e.g. using a zigzag stitch throughout? Thank you!!

    • @RoseryApparel
      @RoseryApparel  Před 4 lety

      To be honest I’m not that experienced with jersey fabrics, but it should be fine! If it’s stretchy enough you may not need to put a zip in, and if you use a stretch needle it should work fine! 😊

      Thanks so much for purchasing my pattern! 🧡 All the info is included in the instructions/on the back of the pattern, but for 14/16 you will need about 3 metres depending on the version you’d like to make 😊 Have fun making it!

    Hi Janelle! I may have missed it in the video (really sorry if I did) but is it possible to make the skirt part of the dress longer? such that it reaches midcalf-ish? if so, what changes must be done to the pattern? Thank you!

    • @RoseryApparel
      @RoseryApparel  Před 4 lety

      Yes you can! There are two skirt lengths available, and one is a cute midi length 😄

    Hi. I'm looking to get this pattern, but a couple of questions. It looks like there is a very large seam allowance, especially a few places. Does it specify in the instructions how much to use where, as it's different in different places? If not, how can I go about picking the right size to where I can sew on the line and cut my own seam allowance? Looks like a great pattern, and I really want to try it.

    • @RoseryApparel
      @RoseryApparel  Před 3 lety

      Yes it specifies the seam allowance in the instructions 😊 It’s the same seam allowance throughout, except the gathering part on the skirt and sleeve.

    • @line2zee
      @line2zee Před 3 lety

      @@RoseryApparel thank you for the response. Good to know. It just looked like in the video that it was 2-3cm some places and 1 cm other places. And I'm not talking about top stitches. I'll take another look. Thanks again.
