These 2 phones still look futuristic and to this day blow my mind away on how far ahead they were in design.
Not really, iPhone in 3 gen just add a 3rd camera in the back and thats it same phone... And Samsung same thing add a camera and a hole on the screen... S20 just put the hole on the other side and add another camera besides that same phone again... Lets wait till September to see Apple move but probably will change a bit aswell nothing crazy IMO! Lets be real its a mobile phone they donât have nothing to change much just improve features every year and thatâs it

I had the S8. It was amazing. Sadly, Android Samsung phones donât age well. I switched to iPhone XR. And much more durable glass, updates, speed, gaming, powerful A12 Bionic, encryption messaging app default. And hardware and software working beautifully.

No, Samsung refreshes models earlier in the year, therefore the correct comparison is the phones released in the same year, not the ones which are closer.
Mossy Well if a phone came out every year in January and a different phone came out every year in December, you really think its fair to compare the versions of the phones from the same year as opposed to comparing the phones that are released 1 month from each other???
Pranav Budhwar congratulations you gave an arbitrary example that doesnât fit this scenario. The fact of the matter is every year the new Samsung is compared with the iPhone released the September before it and then the new iPhone that year is then again compared with that Samsung, and so the cycle continues. Thereâs like a 6 month or so difference, thereâs overlap and tbh the same argument goes the other way when everyone is comparing the Ultra to the iPhone 12 pro max. The 12 was a direct competitor to the 12. The ultra is the new phone from Samsung, with Apple following up with its competitor later in the year. You get me?

No surprising at all! They were pretty similar in the beginning. The only real difference was in the games but the iPhone has much much much more powerful hardware. A11 was almost 2 times faster then SD835

I used to have iPhone 6. When the iPhone X was released, it was too expensive.
So I bought S8 instead. The price of S8 was almost half iPhone X's price.
Although there was iPhone 8, I were not going to buy a phone with large forehead and chin.

I have the S8 and can confirm that it is laggy. My mum has the S9 for almost 2 years now just like me and whenever I have to do something on her phone, I realize how much smoother the S9 is so I think the S9 is like the first Samsung phone with no real performance issues

The A11 Bionic is still a beast of a chipset as well. That was a big update from Apple. Hopefully it makes it into the next iPad base model as well. Big graphics boost

I always thought 4GB of RAM was way too little for Samsung's skin. My Note 8 has 6 and feels so much better

Interesting that you're able to unlock the S8 using the Iris Scanner with your glasses on. I've always had to take my glasses off or use contacts when attempting to unlock my S9 with the Iris Scanner

Whereas if you bought S8, itâs slower than iPhone, doesnât get updates anymore and its value has dropped substantially so you wouldnât get nearly as much back when selling it compared to iphone.

Indeed it is. Its possible the best compact phone i have used. Both X and S8 are the best for 80 Percent of users. i only bought the S8 just because of the amazing infinity bezel less design and to this day i am happy with this phone. the design and display better than XS my brother own. Software less optimized but the display and playing experience is much better than X even for price too

Mini tomate A custom ROM doesnât increase the compute power of a processor lol. You can load lineage 17 deodexed, de-bloated, de whatever and the X would still grind it into a fine powder.
In terms of raw performance anyway, nothing to say about other factors.

YES. Absolutely i got the Xs 2 days ago and its my favourite phone ever imo. It has an OLED which the 11 or the XR doesnt have plus it have a better screen resolution. XR or 11 cant even get up to 1080p

I had the S8+ (Exynos) and was really happy with the phone but one night i came from a party and just wanted to check out how late it is and than... it slipped out of my hand and felt on the earth... Display was broken it still worked also the touch but since the S10+ came out i immeadiatly switched to it
When I had iPhone 6, I had Galaxy S6 few months later. With iPhone 7 I had S8 later and when iPhone 8 came I had S9+. So in my mind I always compared the Galaxy that came later to the iPhone.
The first Galaxy's were mostly answers to the iPhone and Galaxy S was anwer to the iPhone 3G and S2 was answer to the iPhone 4. But looking at build year you're right.

s8 is still a very capable phone... they should still be pushing updates to it tbh
littlelamp100 They should but I understand why they donât. iOS is easy to distribute to every phone that can run it, since there isnât many. Android on the other hand would have to be optimized for hundreds, maybe even thousands of completely different phone models. Is the S8 capable of running Android 10? For sure. Is it going to get it? Definitely not.

Just a heads up, if you want to keep apps running in the background, i would recommed changing the power mode to high performance. Note 8 user.

I still have the galaxy s8 and after three years I'm a bit sad that, besides the phone getting slower the battery is weaker (like a lot), it won't get any updates since the s10 launched (android 10). I'm thinking of switching to the iPhone 11 but not sure if I should. Some suggestions would be really helpful

Apple uses 120 hz touch response(with just 60hz display) for a long time and thats on of the main reasons ios feels so smooth. But now with s20 240 hz touch response and 120 hz display its getting interesting.
