    Come back anytime! As you said, September is when Ireland is at her finest. We don’t get a summer as such, just the odd Tuesday in June and July, but September is the business.

    I am from Letterfrack near Kylemore Abbey and at National Park which you would have rode through, hope to get back one day from Australia so I can ride around on the wild Atlantic way. You were blessed with weather too 👍😎

    Those caves in Gleniff are dangerous. An American tourist died falling there a couple of years ago and people are frequently rescued by the mountain rescue team and the coastguard. There’s caves at Keash in south Sligo are much safer. There is a road off that road which goes to the mast on the top of Truskmore (650m) but it’s locked these days. About a 40 minute walk. Spectacular views. And the next valley south is worth a look, Glencar.

      Thanks for the tips, I'll check out Keash next time I'm in the area.

      The road to Truskmore is a 'private' road.. (even though the public funded it all) for the RTE crews to attend the television broadcasting mast.. beautiful scenic area, lots of history connected with the mines up there..

      @@magpie6648 It used to be open to drive up until 20ish years ago. People often walk up it nowadays. I suspect they know that and keep it locked to limit any liability.

    How did you manage to drive around the Gleniff horseshoe and not mention Diarmud and Grainnes cave? The big black hole above the old houses.. 😊😂😂 well done, ye covered a good few miles/kilometres😊❤ you're right about the roads in England, we were recently in Epsom and Dorking in Surrey. The roads are in sh1te.. and they've stopped trimming the grass verges and roundabouts leaving it very difficult in places to see oncoming traffic.. Yeats spent a lot of time around Lissadell and Drumcliff and Sligo, being related to the Pollexfens. The Gorebooths lived at Lissadell and Yeats was keen on the daughters and could be seen on occasion wandering the roads mumbling poetry to himself..

      You're right, I should have done a bit of research 👍
      Yeah, we managed to pack in quite a bit without being too frazzled every day.
      My Mam was born and breed in Templeboy, near Easky, I've great childhood memories of the area.

      @ivy-mac Father Irish, mother English...grew up in West Cork, near Skibereen from 7yrs till I was 17. I live in West Sussex, and head back whenever possible. I love the land, the people and as a biker its heaven..as you know!. I've ridden all over Europe and Central America, but I could spend a lifetime exploring Ireland 🇮🇪...it's a bit of a modern cliche but it's my happy place. Nice bike by the way 👍 Cheers Steve

      The west coast of Ireland is stunning. The North East coast is also spectacular, especially if you tie it in with some road racing, like Armoy, or the NW200.

    I'm not a fan of the 360 video cameras - prefer standard cameras like GoPro/Drift/Polaroid 100 etc. But your photography is absolutely amazing. You should put a slideshow of the stunning photos at the end of the video. Great trip and you certainly got great weather and took in a lot of the scenic spots and attractions in the area in the 3 days. Thanks for sharing. Go n-eiri an mbothar leat!

    HI, I spent a lot of my youth in Mayo and know many of the roads well. But, on the video time 14:30, where is that?

    Great video. I hope to do this this trip next year. How did you find the sheep on the road? Is that dangerous? They would give me anxiety. Hello from Australia.

    • @ivy-mac
      @ivy-mac  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi. You're over thinking it 😂. The sheep are used to cars and bikes, so don't suddenly dart across the road. Usually the roads were you find the sheep are narrow and slow going, so they're not really a problem.
      Have a great trip when you get there. Half the fun is in the planning and research.

    What time of year did you go?

    • @ivy-mac
      @ivy-mac  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Beginning of September. Best time I think. Still a chance of good weather, kids are back at school, and the roads are a bit quieter.
