It’s funny that you mention that it will only do the 300W mode SHORT TERM. I watched like 3 or 4 reviews and none of them mentioned that it did that.

As an electrician I have installed 100w lights, but 300w sounds crazy!
interesting approach to scale down the form factor- take a stronger light but run it at a lower power so you don't need to cool it as much. Surprised they added a 300W mode, guess if you pay for the light you get to use the whole light lol
Most power lod litgh are rated for the maximun power but the consumtiom (power) tipically is half or something (60-70%) the driver put less current,this donwload the lummens but incrase the lifetime of the led

Overdriving LEDs is nothing new, but it is very bad for them. I wouldnt suggest never doing it since it will shorten the life
They probably are not being over driven.
It is very common for high brightness LEDs to require cooling. Read the data sheets.
But most likely what has happened here, is they didn't want to put a big enough fan in to enable the light to be at max brightness indefinitely.

Very cool. Sadly these high power COB leds are not only expensive but also hard to get. For a project I wanted to build a 200W LED Lamp, and I ended up soldering 240 1W Leds to a custom pcb which i mounted on a heatsink. This was cheaper than buying a 240W cob array and heatsink. It draws up to 240W and should theoretically output about 24.000 Lumens, though I have no way of measuring that. For a bomus I can operate it on RC LiPo Batterys making it a frickin bright flashlight.

In film terms 200w isn’t a lot 2000w are considered bright
On an actual film set that would be be a dim light
Like we’re often working with cameras set at 200iso at T-5.6 so we need a lot more light than most photographers shooting at 800+iso at f-1.4/2.8

I loved the part where you said how bright it is. Is it a 200w equivalent? Equivalent to what? Tungsten, normal incandescent or idk, HMI? Or is it just an LED light with a power draw of 200w because that's what "200w LED light" means to me. Either way, that's not bright. For tungsten equivalents, anything under 1kW is dim to me. An LED with 200w power draw is probably also not that bright, 640w LED is what I call bright. That being said, I'm used to the scope of theatre where tungsten lamps go from 575w (ETC Source 4) to 5kW (typically used in fresnels lighting the entire stage from one point). For people shooting with the light a meter or so away from their faces, such a dim light will be ok. But that doesn't mean it's a super bright light.

The power supply not being on the light sounds kinda bad. Especially since it has a cooling fan that keeps the power supply & bulbs from overheating. Seems like the LED would get too hot, & also the fan would suck stuff up being close to the ground.

I’m going to start working doing profesional headshots for companies and I need lighting. I need to be able to purchase 2 lights that are soft and they are easy to carry around everyday. I was thinking of a speed light like godox v1 with a soft box or a continues light 60w zhiyun G60. Please help! 🫠
If it's for photos look for strobe lights
Carry a speedlight. Their weight to power ratio is high. Plus you're taking photos & not video, so you don't need constant lighting.
