There is a documentary on CZcams called "Closer to the Edge" which is one of the best explanations of the TT. My family lives a Cronkbane, at the 11th mile marker. It is impressive when the bike go past you, close enough to reach out and touch at close to 200mph - it is very physical experience. Not all the clips on this video are TT though, still, not bad.

1 lap is 37.5 miles long they race 6 laps the top speed is 216mph an average of about 130mph unfortunately over 240 people have died since the race began.

It's seriously dangerous. 269 people have died on the course. 2005 had 11 fatalities and the only year nobody died since 1937 was 1982.
