    Hi Joy-el! This is a random suggestion but since we have the same hair type I thought I'd share some insight with you or anyone who happens to scroll across my comment! When I do braidouts, to maintain the overall definition in my hair I rebraid my hair at night (not entirely this can be done in a 2-4 sections, I don't detangle or add any product, I just braid with the curls intact), wake up in the morning, take them out very very gently. If I feel like my hair is losing definition I will use a dime size amount of gel while re-braiding at night. I do this method for styles like 3/2 strand twistouts, and regular braidouts. Good luck with using oils!

    I had a bottle of Vitamin E oil that I stopped using because my scalp is naturally too oily. Saw this video and decided to use it on my ends today. My hair is super duper ultra dultra high porosity. Girl! My hair is looking like yours! My ends are so shiny. Thanks a million!

    Vitamin is Everything!! It has some many benefits. I only use oils on my ends since I have oily skin and oil on my scalp seeps into my face and it really has made a difference with the health of my ends.
    Great video!

    A more simple way il like to use all my favorite oils at the same time is making whipped shea butter and adding my oils

    I use it on my hair and take a vitamin E supplement. I've used Alma oil. It stinks and you can't leave it on your hair for long periods. If you use it, do it as a hot oil treatment before washing your hair. I love Jamaican black castor oil. That's what I use to seal. Monoi oil is great too

    I don't have vitamin E oil, but I plan on getting some. My daughter keeps telling me to put some on my face; I have heavy sun damage (old lady). I've been so stressed these last two years that I had not noticed my skin until she pointed it out. My bathroom light is dimmer than her light, so I did not notice. I do have a bottle (Hollywood Beauty) of olive oil that I will use on the ends starting now (it has vitamin E in it). I do have very dry ends. OK... Great!

    Ladies make sure you are using 100% vitamin E oil. Read the ingredients. Some bands will have vitamin E on the label, but the first ingredient is canola, or soy or something else.

    Hey Joy El! Do you have any videos on prolonging two strand twists? I find my hair losing its moisture very quickly after I get them twisted :(

    • @dlgardner9418
      @dlgardner9418 Před 2 lety +3

      I’m not Joy-el, but I will tell you my trick. I section my hair in about 8 sections (I have a lot of very long, thick hair). I apply pink oil moisturizer to each section and do a big chunky twist with each section and sleep with a cap or scarf. Depending on your hair you can decide how often you have to do it. After a few applications I can go a night or two with just a sleep cap. My twist outs last at least 2-3 weeks.

      @@dlgardner9418 I'm going to have to try that pink oil moisturizer. My sister used to use that and because she was older than me I just thought it was such an old-fashioned product that really didn't do much, but a lot of you seem to mention it.

    Hi there. This is a kind of unrelated topic. Bonnets. I am fifty, natural, and have never used a bonnet at night. My hair suffers no breakage. I tried a bonnet for two nights. I find them annoying( I might not be used to them). What are your thoughts on bonnets?

    • @RakiyasRoots
      @RakiyasRoots Před 2 lety +2

      bonnets can cause breakage along the hairline if not used carefully, I prefer a style that tucks my ends in like bantu knots and just go to sleep

    • @Bernadettemarie1959
      @Bernadettemarie1959 Před 2 lety +1

      I've never used a bonnet. And I never will (never say never). This is exactly why I'm beat up looking!! Can't tell me nothing and I don't do nothing... Chuckling... The reason I don't wear bonnets is that wigs take your hair out on the sides. My logic is that a bonnet will do the same thing. There are different grades of hair, so it won't hurt everyone's hair. But I'm not young; I can't risk it. The end of last year I got a silk pillowcase and this will do. But I know nothing about hair, so I will wait to see what type of answers you get. 🤔

    • @SharmaineJoyel
      @SharmaineJoyel  Před 2 lety +6

      I personally love bonnets and use one every night. If you don't like them then I suggest trying a silk pillow case instead :)

    • @CSmith-tn8nv
      @CSmith-tn8nv Před 2 lety +1

      Get somebody to make you a real silk charmeuse bonnet (NOT polyester like those sold in stores) with long ties you can wrap around your head to keep the bonnet securely in place and keep it from rubbing your edges or just tear some 2’ wide, long strips of fabric to wrap around the edges of your current bonnet to keep it from sliding around and rubbing.

    • @sable7114
      @sable7114 Před 2 lety +2

      The satin pillowcase is great as long as you're here is contained so it's not all over the place, contain meaning in twists or braids that are pinned up or I take my twist and braid them together so that is up and out of the way but I do use a bonnet and my Bonnet has a drawstring through it, no elastic I didn't tie it but also push it behind my hairline. Sometimes it may even flip off during the night but then I have the satin pillowcase period since the pandemic I've mostly worn headwraps and they are definitely tied into beautiful styles around my hairline and forehead and I have never seen my edges so long. I have only worn a wig maybe less than 10 times in my entire life and that was probably over the past couple of years to the funerals I could attend, sadly one of them was not my sister's I had to do that by Zoom, covid took her out.😢 but anyway, I think I have a big head and the Whigs don't ever reach my hairline which is why I buy the ones that have hair coming towards the front or actually I bought the one on the sale table and since I could only select from 4, straight straight wasn't it, purple definitely wasn't it, and white blonde I wasn't doing so I ended up with a twist out looking shoulder-length wig with a brown base and golden highlights which most think is my hair only because they don't know how long my hair is now. I started wearing the headwraps to prevent virus particles from landing on my hair which I had no intentions of shampooing everyday after getting home. You see at that time we had to be very cautious before the vaccine not knowing exactly how some people were getting it.

    Okay it's embarrassing to say I fell asleep either after I finish watching your video ordering but wasn't certain to watched it again. I take vitamin E supplements but only every other day because of some type of controversy about too much vitamin E and one of those things might be that it thins your blood which of course would bring about better circulation but also can cause easy bleeding like aspirin would do. You might want to check but I do not think vitamin E is an essential oil and should not have to be mixed with anything if you get 100% vitamin E just like jojoba oil 100% does not need to be mixed with anything because his not an essential oil. The ones that are mixed with several oils like yours or just cheaper and you might not be getting the full benefit of vitamin E. I'd like to see you be able to do that since so far what you're using has worked out so great for your ends. I put jbco on my ends and if I don't feel like something so heavy during the week then I'll just put the jojoba oil on my ends because it only takes a little and I found a great sale, $3 instead of $7 and something for the same size at Trader Joe's but now during inflation I'll have to see how much more expensive the oil is. Allie I found my a hobo oil at Kroger.

    I don’t think you even understand how much of a beautiful woman you are. I’ve never seen someone with such white facial features but a African American hair! You’re so pleasing to look at . I’m also wondering if you are open to trying a side part. I was a die hard middle part girl to the point where I would convince people to do middle as well. I’ve been trying side parts and I fell in love. I’d love to see your hair in one
