The immediate shutdown of a vital port (Karachi) turning what would have been a relatively symmetrical war into a short and comparatively one-sided one reminds me of the Russo-Japanese war.

Peer to peer? Pakistan's navy was nowhere near parity with the Indian navy. All of what's written above conveniently ignore that this happened when Pakistan was embroiled in a bloody civil war where the country's majority population (Bengalis) was fighting the minority population (West Pakistanis did not constitute Pakistan's majority population). Being armed with the top of line Soviet war material (while Pakistan was reeling under the US military sanctions) and having a numerical advantage of 15:1 in the Eastern theatre (Manekshaw himself accepted), the conception of a country that was 1,000 km away from West Pakistan inhabited by the majority population of united Pakistan (Bengalis) and manned by a mere REGULAR military strength of 45,000.
Do also shed some light on 1962 when a region the size of Switzerland was liberated by the Chinese in a swift conflict where nothing was stopping the PLA from even whisking away Arunachal (South Tibet), not the Indian army at least.

the accuracy of Soviet cold war era anti ship missiles is shockingly good
Great presentation. I look forward to seeing more. I understand why Captains want to go down with the ship, but I would think there’d be standing orders against it. Loosing some crew in battle in wartime is going to happen. However, career Naval Captains don’t just appear. They are trained for 20-30 decades, and have a wealth of experience. Standing orders should be against such a decision
Nowadays there are orders against that. But in 71 things were different.
There ARE such orders. A captain is supposed to be the last person off the ship. That doesn't mean you have to go down with the ship. It means that as the captain of a sinking ship you are responsible for getting people off of that ship until it's no longer possible to rescue anyone else. You are then entitled to save yourself.
Them Pakistani’s have a horrid KD ratio in this one.
In all wars tbh

I remember trying to repeat this success in Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations. Efforts were fairly hampered by the fact that the Indian frigates were just as fast as the Pakistani torpedoes but they kept trying to dodge side-to-side allowing the torpedoes to catch up eventually.
You failed to mention 2 of events in PNS Hangor's records:
Hangor fired a torpedo towards Kirpan when it was coming for rescue of Kukri, a loud explosion was heard which indicated the torpedo has strucked but later it was found that the ship did not sank.
Immediately after this engagement the Indian Navy launched a massive hunting mission against Hangor and dropped depth charges indiscriminately. Hangor had to remain submerged for a week to escape this Indian mission.

Why INS Kukri was not manoeuvring in any way for so long in light of a known sub attack on INS Kirpan is mind-boggling. Were the two ships out of comms/LOS and it didn't know, or was the Captain simply that negligent?
Ins Kirpan also Dodged the Torpedo Just by Hard maneuvering the Ship.
The Khukri had Sonar issue and I think one of its Boiler also didn't worked well.
After the attack on INS kirpan, INS khukri changed course, increased speed and came rushing towards the last known position of PNS hangor to press for an attack but PNS hangor had a sonar that outranged INS khukri's own sonar, which resulted in PNS hangor detecting INS khukri first and they knew it's heading towards them so they changed mode and fired torpedo towards the incoming but unsuspecting khukri, INS khukri's sonar was technologically inferior to the sonar of PNS hangor, couple it with the fact that khukri's sonar required it to move slowly for it to work properly and it resulted in INS khukri detecting the incoming torpedo too late and with such short range the ship failed to maneuver and avoid the torpedo, Later the Indian Navy's inquiry also found that the ship had not followed the Indian Navy's anti submarine doctrine properly
The Indian frigate had sonar range of only 5 km. That too effective while slowing the ship.
Pak sub was latest one with modern sonar of its time range of 25 km.
Both Indian frigates were of no match to the pak sub

I really don't like this type of thing. In a war every man is vital and he was a captain at that. Won't it be much better if he came back and shared his experience with fighting pak subs to the high command? The Japanese also did the same
@@mayukhbasak163 that's what we want from him but warriors think differently, they are greedy of glory.
If I were the captain, I'll do the same but hope others don't do it. It takes years to train a commander.
@@mayukhbasak163 You can view it as like a responsibility thing and to just purely warrior's honor
A captain failed their duty as a captain and got people killed and the ship sunk. The least they can do is go down with the ship.
@@PanzerIVAEmore like the captain did not want to face the humiliation and possible charges, for allowing his crew to be in such a relaxed state during a war.
I am Happy that You are Making Content on Our History SO that New Generation can Know What Happend. Thank you sooo much . love the content also.
Top notch content. Earned a sub👍
Regrettable to see what has happened to you. You are an incredible content creator. I wish you nothing but best of luck.
PNS Hangor was crewed by a very good crew. Indian Navy was right to assess Pak submarines were the biggest threat to them.
What happened to the creator?
@@durgeshsss Mass-whining by Indian ultra-nationalists and legal threats from the Indian government because he's using the standard & internationally recognised UN maps instead of their own maps which enforce Indian territorial claims over the disputed Kashmir region.
@@Ozraptor4Kashmir and Balochistan is an integral part of India and we will take it back on our own chosen time and we don't give a sh** about what UN thinks or what you think in the matter of fact.
@@AryaEZAF Thankyou for illustrating my point.
@@AryaEZAFso you can turn them into designated shitting areas?
An Iraqi Captain and I were once talking about why the military of Muslim countries were.....lets admit it.....bad.
"From the day a Muslim boy is born he is pitted against his brothers. He and his brothers are against his cousins. His clan against other clans in the tribe. Our tribe against all the world."
Loyalty to of these familial ties are held high above the good of the nation as a whole.
Keep in mind they also didn't want to be a country for the most part. Large swaths of land were cut up in weird places taking in no regard for cultural differences and ethnic differences. The groups that were still killing each other were told they were a nation now and to get along. Went about as well as you would expect.
The irony is that that was the very reason the Muhammad (Pbuh) brought Islam… to unite the tribes… unfortunately they let their traditions dominate over the religious teachings and a great civilization that could have united the world, fell apart, and with it Islam itself.
You do understand that it isn’t a Muslim thing. It’s a dictatorial thing. Muslim Bengali forces were also routing the Pakistanis in 71 and in 1965 Muslim Bengalis defended Lahore from india with gallantry. The problem is there is no rule of law in Pakistan
That would imply they don’t fight bravely or together against enemy countries, but they do
@@Sea-qv4sd It does not. It implies exactly what I said. Their cohesion as a nation is impeded by these outlooks you just don't find in other parts of the world
Can you do a series about the Falklands? I’m sure I’m not the only one who would be interested
I love learning about modern conflicts that aren’t euro/America centric
Great content as always. Do you plan to do the Battle of Longewala as well?
Did you.. did your team just break your upload schedule and worked overtime to upload another India video just to get back at that legal team?
They should've never messed with a group who do their research lol
What is indian geography society even gonna do ban the video
Your videos made me and what I believe to be a lot of people aware of Indian accolades. It's a shame that some ultra nationalists were trying to sabotage what's essentially a free PR campaign for them
The free PR campaign can be gotten ANYTIME, but the world cannot be allowed to normalize wrong maps of India.
@@SodiumSyndicatestop this non sense!! You are just making a fool of yourself.
If everyone started to use maps based on claims then taiwan will be shown in China.
And go and ask residents of POK if they even want to be in India. You act like these palces are just barren lands with no people. These maps are what the government controls and administeres. Let the governments do this cartograohic advocacy and focus on what is more important here.
As an Indian I am embarrassed that illogical and senseless people like you are my countrymen.
@@SodiumSyndicateIts not a wrong map. Be silent instead of embarressing your country.
@@SodiumSyndicate Claiming territory that we don't control is just lying to ourselves. Instead of crying about maps, we should be preparing to take back actual ground. The current administration, however, is only interested in burning our own country to the ground before any such thing can materialize.
@@SodiumSyndicateit is the defacto map.....you can claim whatever you want, you can claim entire china belongs to you, but the world will recognise only what is in your control, not your claim.
Otherwise Pakistan also claims entire kashmir, should they show kashmir belongs to Pakistan on the map?
Thanks to THE GOAT CZcamsr for continueing the series on India 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love to see this channel dissecting conflicts from all over the world!
I'm not so sure. I think his best videos focus on western battles and wars. Not many people understand these countries or their complex history, which makes the videos confusing.
It ironic that the Indian government tried to content strike a video that makes India look cool as shit
Please continue this series. Don't mind that map shit. Love from India
Your videos are very good to watch. The narration is extremely good and the graphics make it very easy to understand even for a layman. Good Work. Keep it up. Next Kargil.
Intervention of a real picture at 6:08 is very nice.
The water doesn't look like it confirms to the specifications of the Indian Maritime Cartography Protectorate. There will be hell to pay.
Please talk about 1965 next - india's success at stopping operation Gibraltar and pakistan's success during the battle of chaiwanda
I thought I should watch this quick, before the powers that be issue a cease and desist order!
Great production as always.
