A few things that were not mentioned. This is country living, not "suburb" living. Frequent power outages, some lasting days. Lots of folks have backup generators. Snow is infrequent, but when it does, prepare to hunker down as only the main roads get plowed. Cell service and internet are sketch in many places. There is only one main road to get off the island and it has a lot of traffic especially during rush hours. One accident can hold you up for a long time. There's some natural gas on the north end, but mostly people are on propane. There is no sewer system - we all have septic and well water, so water filtration systems and softeners are a must. Sometimes in periods of little or no rain and overwatering, some wells run dry. There's only a few places where the beaches are public. Having said all that to keep out the rif raf, I wouldn't live anywhere else. The people are wonderful and watch out for each other. We see orca pods, gray whales, humpback whales, eagles, and other wildlife regularly. We are in a rainshadow and get 40% less rain than Seattle. During the heat of the summer, we are usually at least 10 degrees cooler up here. And no ferry!

@@lilliancastanera6814 It's an old Island thing/saying. Local + born here. I meant no offence. Most of the old local families have left now due to the over population on the Island. I was born here in 65, and Mom and Dad were here before that. This place use to be so beautiful. So what part of the Island are you on, and what made you decide to move here??
@@deblawson1575 i moved here as a little kid because my parents divoced and my grandparents live here so we moved here from florida in 07
I was born here in 1965, something he is NOT telling Y'all is that our water is dangerously low on the Island now that all these people have put to many homes on the Island. Our wildlife is not at all what it used to be....to many people. And during the spring summer and fall we are inedited with tourist prices have gone though the roof, due to overpopulation. The once beautiful not to mention plentiful beaches are now dirty. Most of the locals are tired of all of the new comers.

Sorry I was a 30 year resident of Seattle and Camino Island is in NO WAY a suburb of Seattle, in fact it might be closer to the Candian border than to Seattle proper. 60 Miles away is not going to be an hour away in rush hour traffic. Its a nice place and out in the country but don't for a minute think its right next door to Seattle.
Why are there so many homes being sold on Camano Island this year?
Truth^ It was a great place to live the country island life. People waved and knew one another. When there was a death, it hit the community - hard. You could coast from one end of town or camano to the other and barely see a soul. More trees than homes, more wildlife than people. It was a beautiful thing, and people saw that beautiful thing (especially once covid hit) and tried to bottle up the essence of camano and sell it as "the island life" to all the Californian's and Seattleites for ungodly amounts of $$$. And they bought it, and brought with them their city life and cut throat morals. To each his own, but there's a reason I don't live in either part of the country.
