Kiefer is a great artist but is bigoted and megalomaniac (as a real German). If someone see his work from the begining immediately understands that is very greed artist...biigger works and bigger and bigger...This mean in the future his work will collapse. Not now because the whole art market system is in his hand.Whatever he says in his interviews with those big works he simply tries to deceive the viewer and not to make him share his truth.He must learn the concept of the "human measure" like Jannis Kounelis mentioned in the past.
I would say at least he tries to be less German (and therefore less megalomaniac - as you call it). But it is not enough to just move to France. I'm an artist too. And I went to Holland, to Denmark, taught myself Swedish and French - and still I am German. Nothing to change about it. Only a great love (or several) could save us. Art doesn't help. Remember: a painter who talks about his painting is no longer a painter.Talking about music is like dancing about architecture (not by myself).
