  • 10 promising projects under the Nana Akufo
Ghana is a western African country located on the Gulf of Guinea's coast. Despite its small size and population, Ghana is one of Africa's leading countries, partly due to its significant natural wealth and partly because it was the first black African country south of the Sahara to achieve independence from colonial rule. This country is fortunate to have a dynamic president who is both ambitious and developmental. Infrastructure contributed slightly more than one percentage point to Ghana's annual per capita GDP growth during the 2000s. Raising the country's infrastructure endowment to that of the region's middle-income countries could boost annual growth by over 2.7 percentage points. Ghana has a more advanced infrastructure platform when compared to other African low-income countries. Ghanaian President Nana Akufo Addo is a visionary president who has moved Ghana forward not only economically, but also socially and structurally. Ghanaians are eager to see the massive projects promised by President Nana Akufo-Addo during his campaign for the 2016 general elections. Indeed, when he won the election in 2016 and began working in 2017, most of his campaign promises were fulfilled, while others are still in various stages of completion. Stay with us to the end to find out the 10 promising projects under the Nana Akufo. Please do us a favor to subscribe tour channel as we ride along.
    10. Dualization of Teshie Beach Road and Nungua Interchange
This is a $100 million project that runs from Accra's Independence Square through Osu, La, Teshie, Nungua, Tema Community Three, and Sakumono in the Tema enclave. The Nungua section of this 26.6km dual road has one interchange. This project is part of the Accra-Tema Beach Road Improvement Project and is supported by the Synohydro Facility. It is expected to be finished in 24 months by Messrs Gansu International Corporation for Economic and Technical Cooperation and Messrs China Major Bridge Engineering Company Limited.
    9. Agenda 111 Regional and District Hospitals.
Agenda 111 includes 101 district hospitals, 6 regional hospitals in newly formed regions, 2 specialized hospitals in the middle and northern belts, a regional hospital in the Western Region, and renovation of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital. President Akufo-Addo, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana, made a promise to Ghanaians that the government was planning to build 101 hospitals across the country to help beef up health delivery in the country. In Ghana, new hospitals are being built to meet the country's health-care needs.
    8. Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam
The Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam is a project funded by the Ghanaian government. The US$993 million project includes a dam with a maximum reservoir area of 350 kilometers squared and an elevation of 165 meters near the Pwalugu Bridge on the White Volta River, a powerhouse with two turbines with 60MW installed capacity and 16.5 MW firm continuous capacity, and an irrigation scheme with a 12m high weir and canal network (main, primary, secondary, and tertiary canals) for approximately 25,000 ha of land.
    7. Kumasi International Airport
Phase two of the airport's redevelopment plans includes the construction of the Kumasi International Airport. Because of the country's growing demand for aviation services, the conversion of the local airport into an international airport became necessary. The project entails extending the runway from 1981 meters to 2300 meters to accommodate Boeing 737-800 series aircraft, as well as building a new terminal, additional aprons, and other ancillary works. When completed, the new terminal will be able to handle one million passengers per year. This is one of the major projects being undertaken by the government in the region.
