MY POST RELAXER WASH DAY ROUTINE | Healthy Hair Junkie

  • This wash day took place 1 week after my relaxer. As I'd used a hard protein treatment in my pre-relaxer wash day, I opted for a light protein treatment post relaxer and as always, I followed this up by deep conditioning.
    Please leave any questions you have in the comments and stay tuned for part 2 of this video! xx

    Hi! Your hair is beautiful. I couldn’t help but noticed that you focused the protein treatment on your healthy newer roots and put less products on your thinner and older ends. I believe that if you focus more on your ends that’s how you retain the most healthy ends.
    “Shampoo your roots but condition your ends” has worked wonders for me personally and I would recommend that you try it and see how it works for you. But overall great content! Thank you!

    Very likely you won't see this as its an old video, but I relaxed my hair a few days ago and due a wash soon. I was considering this treatment as it seems popular but when I read the instructions it says its for damaged hair, my hair isnt damaged, do I did it? Also it states its a 2 min treatment but you kept yours on for a lot longer, as its an old video, do you still do this as it's opposite of the instructions? My salon mentioned doing a protein treatment once a month now I am relaxed, should I just wait or is the protein treatment a week post relaxer necessary? Thanks!

      Thanks for watching! I shampoo in sections to prevent my hair from getting tangled which is especially important the further along I am in my relaxer stretch. I apply the shampoo to my scalp to ensure it's properly cleansed, the shampoo travels down the length of my hair and is rinsed thoroughly. This is something I've been doing for years to avoid my ends becoming dry as a result of shampooing x

      There are a few things that cause breakage and shedding; lack of moisture, over processed hair, over-styling etc. Try to follow a regime that will help you establish a good balance between moisture and protein. Moisturising and sealing is important, deep conditioning, wearing your hair in low manipulation styles & regular protein treatments x

  • @romantichero
    @romantichero Před 5 lety +1

    I just relaxed my hair recently and am considering the APHOGHEE 2 MINUTE PROTEIN TREATMENT because I feel like my hair needs it. From what I understand, the relaxer works by breaking down certain proteins in my hair to make the hair straight... so if I add protein back in to my hair with the Aphoghee treatment will my hair become curly again? That would defeat the process of the relaxer.

    • @HealthyHairJunkie
      @HealthyHairJunkie  Před 5 lety +6

      A relaxer chemically straightens your hair so you can't reverse the process. Protein treatments simply help strengthen your hair!

How did your hair feel after using them, do you always use them, are there other products you would recommend? Why you do condition from your roots to your ends, is it just your way or is it better to do than ends to roots? Etc. I haven't been relaxed in 4 years and when I was my hair was a mess.
