What's crucial about this idea is putting distance between the player and the gun. The bots always shoot the player, so if you can place the seat such that it's immune, well, that's a gg right there...
That's what I did for my first scrap mechanic base. Just a wall of gun port holes but linked to rapid fire circuits, so a pirate ship with miniguns.
turrets are bad when controlled manually but guud when automatic using glitch that lets you 2 farm on water

the glaring weak point I was yelling about from the start is you should've put either the steel, or at least the t3 wood over the exterior bubbles, lol
on the sides it'd delay the sinking, because they wouldn't instantly blow up half the floor in one barrage, lol, on the bottom doesn't matter much, but some steel there would slightly help the tipping I guess
This concept, except with a flying vehicle, could be really cool too! Since you’re flying, you’ll be on the move, and will have a chance of dodging the incoming projectiles. Great vid as usual!

why not make a minigun or a gatling gun made out of spudguns rather than single shot turrets? try that next time pls. Make multiple Gatling Spud Guns or Mini Spud Guns

Gatling gun and mini gun are the same concept of gun, just a different method of firing ( 1 is manual, the latter is automatic, using electric motors) . Mini gun is the most modern.....mini gun it is

Honestly what got my attention is the way you stabilized the boat. I have a massive barge (80 by 32) in survival mode and I had it dry-docked due to the weird game buoyancy. Now I think I can fix it! Thanks! My suggestion is if you try to build a big boat and have a deployable vehicle for island exploration.
The reason it tilted and fell midway through is it calculates buoyancy for all connected sections of the same buoyant material (and if it floats it doesn’t sink as whole thing, not calculating object tilt), and so by dividing it in two with the metal you made two float calculations, but the had no counter correction (as you discovered) on the two short sides, whereas if you divide it into four platforms it will never do that, as you have four float calculations that correct and lean, as long as they have sufficient buoyancy.
Try and build a battleship with multilayered armor and explosive cannons. And then try to survive against the red tapebots.

boats need exactly 4 separate large slabs only connected at only one point in scrap mechanic to work perfectly
How to make turning sideways slower/more sensitive:
Put the sideways movement on two consecutive bearings instead of just one.
Make the two bearings turn in opposing directions.
Have one of them be slightly slower than the other, it will cancel out most of the movement of the slightly faster one.

How about this idea for a team multiplayer Monday? Each team builds a floating fortress with spudgun turrets (with at least two spudguns on each turret), and the first team to sink the other team's fortress wins. (One small explosive launcher and handheld spudguns are optional.)

Super fun idea! I'm half way through, can't wait to see how it turns out. I just have to mention that you can improve your steering bearing sensitivity by reducing the angle they're set to. You've got them all set to 120° both ways but you're only actually able rotate them at most 30° each way. Reducing that angle will make them a ton easier to aim.
You should fight fire with fire. Try to add rockets (you can make very simple rockets with a thruster and an explosive) or a catapult that fires explosives. You could also try making a small plane with the wings mod that has automatic spudguns on it. Just make the plane very slow so it doesn't be too over powered. If you decide to take one of my ideas then please put them on the roof of the fortress. There it won't have any armor. Also the plane could be fired from like a "slingshot" so it can get a good fast start while not being fast while flying.
Building the ultimate like survival movable base (in creative ofc) would be pretty sick, maybe even as a series, wether it be a big ol bus, a big ship, maybe even an aircraft carrier, would b very fun to watch
1. You could have just saved the part of the ship with the guns on it then spawn it in again and weld it the other way
2. You should have made 4
turrets with 3 spud guns each that can rotate 180 side to side and can elevate from -30 to +60 degrees and give them thick armor
3. Left a small hole be able to use handheld spud shooting weaponry.
4. For extra armor, you could have applied 3rd tier wood (what I like to call 'plywood') to the outside.
5. Put the fire button inside the ship.
6. Use wedges and tier 3 wood around the guns as extra armor.
I am hopping into Scrap Mechanic rn to try and build a ship that CAN fight against them.

I can explain why buoyancy is uneven, you mostly understand it, but it's a little more game-internals related, a rectangular prism of bubble block is one "shape", (every part is a shape, blocks combine together into large shapes), it's for performance, but the water manager applies upward force to each shape individually, so yes, dividing them up will cause buoyancy to be spread out, since it's dividing shapes up.

Multiplayer Monday- two teams, each team makes a floating fortress and a gunner boat and obviosly they fight.

Need to be able to out maneuver them. This is why you need to do another boat race on multiplayer Monday and have these guys on the shore. Maybe just regular tape bots, but it'd cause a balance between durability, weight, speed, and control.

I'd love to see you play From the Depths. It's a little more to learn but it's way worth it when you can make all kinds of insane vehicles

I would suggest tier 3 wood for your “base”. It’s weight really only affects it outside of water because of its buoyancy so you wouldn’t get that weird half floating half flying base. Boats aren’t made of bubble blocks for a reason!
I used to watch loads of different scrap mechanic youtubers and ive stopped watching them except scrap man . Theres just something about his content which i love watching and have been for years
Multiplayer Monday idea:you guys build a defensif boat with guns and attack boat ,one guy controling with guns and one guy driving the defensif boat, enemy try to attack with their attack boat, the defensif boat have to get to some escape point' the defensif boat had explosive on in so if the attack boat shoot all the explosive they lose.
I want to see a multiplayer Monday, were they have to build boats and make it down a river with tape bots on both sides of the river. I want to see who would make it the furthest.
You should have put a skirt, therefore if the tape bots hit the bottom of the base, the skirt will be damaged but not the bubble blocks.
You needed to protect the turret mechanisms. Build a ‘bubble’ of metal around the bearing & pipes. And multiple layers of armor. (You can put bubble blocks between the layers to help with buoyancy.)

As a One Piece fan I want to build the Going Merry and the Thousand Sunny, so this stabilizing buoyancy really helps
The buoyancy issue was explained by kAN in his Noob v Pro boat-racing video a little while ago. Separating the slabs of bubble-blocks forces the game to calculate them with different points of buoyancy. When the blocks are touching, the game merges them to calculate it from one point. This calculation works the same way as how transparent blocks are see-through when connected to each other; If two sections of transparent blocks are separated, you will see the second layer through the first, but if they're touching, the second-layer will be invisible.

The one and only change I would make (and will when I build my own) is to add a protective plate over the turrets point of rotation
Seems like you need to add another 5 feet of bubble block around the perimeter of your fortress and then armor the bubble block with one layer of the Metal Block 3 around the sides and the first flooring. That might at least keep the platform stable as the top gets blown to bits.
Hey scrapman, been watching you for years now! Anyways... I just had an idea for you, habout you make a automatic train to get around really fast not sure gow on scrap earth this would work *because of the physics* but if you could try to make a really fast train in survival that would be awesome!
Anyway hope you like my suggestion, don't know if anyone has said this already but it would be cool!

Is It me or does this remind someone of the history of the first Iron boats especially the battle part.
Surprisingly bot AI in creative is somewhat different to the bot AI in survival. If you're behind blocks and not in a seat bot won't go aggro on you (Something that Scrapman himself discovered way back in this trolling tapebots video), they just ignore you completely. I've been using it to make warehouse runs super easy in a seatless mini tank. In creative however they just wreck you either way lol.

5:57 this is the exact reason kan makes 4 separate bubble platforms for his boats. He explained this in a video a long time ago.

@Scrapman In a relatively recent video of Can's, i believe it was pro vs noob boat edition or smth, he noted that in his experiments he determined that if you use one big chunk of floatable material it is treated as a point mass with buoyancy, i believe that's why it does not stay level but just stops - a point is level in each direction. In addition he mentioned that a better suited design is if you spread the flotables into a few (4 in his case) pads, that calculate their own position and floatability, while the main mass is between then. This way you have 4 floating pads/points with a common center. t witch they apply their mass as an angular momentum and you will see "normal" behavior.

If you put the Bearing on a lower angle, then it will move slower. This is because the speed you set the bearing to, is a constant time which stays the same when you lower the angle of the bearing.
So the speed of the bearing will reduce.
I like that whan you place the top balcony it’s like the fortress wants the balcony to get destroyed because you made a terrible balcony it’s pinning it against the water

At 11:51 your boat was tipping sideways. You should split your bubble blocks into 4 sections instead of just 2 for even better stability.
Multiplayer monday:
you build some buildings with a decided amount and type of blocks and spawn 4 red tapebots, after 10 or so seconds ./killall and see how many blocks they destroyed. the one with most block left on his build wins
