- Lipsey's puts the past in the palm of your hand with our newest exclusive, the GLOCK G17 GEN 1 Classic!
Lipsey’s new tribute project to GLOCK’s first semi-automatic, safe action pistol has all the looks and feel of the original. Introduced in 1986 to the U.S. consumer market, the G17 became GLOCK’s first civilian alternative to the GLOCK Pistole 80 (P80) which was the Austrian military’s official sidearm in 1982. The interesting name and unique polymer frame drew a lot of attention in America with later generations becoming the preferred defensive pistol for millions of consumers and law enforcement alike.
The Lipsey’s Exclusive GLOCK G17 Gen 1 Classic stays true to styling with the pebble grip texture, Gen 1 pin style frame, flat extractor, no front serrations, and smooth trigger. Collector’s will appreciate that this model is made in Austria and comes with an original “Tupperware” style container encased within a beautiful graphic overbox and certificate of authenticity. Every GLOCK G17 Gen 1 Classic will also have the GEN1 suffix in the serial number.

The 19 version of this would sell like hot cakes. Ideal concealed carry gun.
Saw one in academy in my town and buddy in the back said it’s been on display for months. I’d never thought I’d set eyes on a 1st gen felt good in my hands.
Glock stays marketing to idiots like me that are fully aware that this is just a regurgitation of the P80 release, and will still buy it
Yes but the p80 hasn't been available for 40 years. It's a rare retro Glock. It's got the old school cool factor. Much like when companies were making retro 1911s to original military spec.
@@theshapeexists and that’s why I bought 2 of them 😂
@@Mikey-240 I tried to. I bought one to collect and when I went to buy another to shoot, the guy who owned the armory decided he was going to keep it. Oh well. I have a gen 3 17 so that'll do
Just picked up one of these! I love it! Always wanted a Gen 1 and this is about as close as I can get. Feels great in the hand and shoots very nice. Looking forward putting it through its paces
I have the Lipseys P80 from when they first came out. Its my favorite pistol, and its definitely not a safe queen. It gets a lot of love. Pebble grip is da bomb.
Cant blame em, gotta use those P80 Molds somehow.
You know Glock had to completely remake the molds for this right? They havent existed in decades.
@@theshapeexists that was the joke. They came out with the Lipseys P80 Classic with this same frame a few years ago. I bought one.
@@G19Jeeper I actually just realized this is a new run of these guns. I got one of the first run of p80s. Mine was like #692, however the first runs didn't have the gen1 suffix at the end of the number. I had to pull mine out of the safe because I saw the special serial number and could have swore mine didn't look like that. And it doesn't. And I just now realized that this was labeled glock 17 instead of p80. Typical of Glock to announce a special run and then make 40 trillion of them later. So much for getting something I thought was special. 😂. I haven't had a lot of expendable income lately so you Ive fallen behind on current gun models. So did you get a p80 and one of these gen 1 retros? Wondering if they'll do a gen 2 retro.
@@theshapeexists nope, figured the P80 retro was enough. I was actually trying to sell it to slim my overall collection. I don't shoot it so it's just tying up money this point. Looking to finish a Bren 2 build
I got one the other day. It’s a glock alright 😂😂😂 I love it and the old school styling. It’s awesome.
I bought 1 of 2 that was at a local gun shop!!!
Y'all definitely should do the generation 2 Glock 19 please
Definitely didn’t expect this release, I hope they do a Gen 2 in the near future
I’d definitely be down for a Gen 2 19.

Might just have to take a look at one. Saw one on GB today.
If I didn't already own one I'd buy this.
I always liked the look of the Gen1
I need one!!
Now y'all need a Gen 2.
I have one of these.
Can you all make the classic Glock 19 Gen 2 classic?
Better yet why don't you guys make a gen 1 glock 19?
@aaron smith gen 1 glock 19 never existed. It began with the gen 2 grip
@@MLoges86 You might want to do a little more research there buddy... Very few were ever made they were made for the Kansas City I believe it was there alcohol tobacco department
@@MLoges86 Incorrect. Not only did it exist, but an agency issued them to their officers.
I bought one of these, it doesnt have gen1 on the serial number. But i got mine when they first came out. When did they start that serial number process?
We need a G17 Gen 2!
I got one...In 1992! First handgun I bought when I turned 21. Still shoots great.
@@haroldlittell689 gen 2's are my favorite. You've got the wider grip of the Gen 3 without the finger grooves or needing back straps. I don't run accessories on my handguns so I don't need the accessory raul. Idk, I just find them the most aesthetically pleasing Glocks & I like how they feel in hand
I loved the classic g17 ever since i saw it in some roblox game😂
And just like their P80 pistol, they're using the early Gen 3 tupperware boxes - not the bullet holder style used in early Gen 1. Drop free mags, captured RSA, no doubt a melonite heat treatment, etc.
It's pretty unreasonable to expect them to make a completely original Gen 1 again (they'd have to create an entirely new pencil barrel JUST for this gun), not to mention impossible since the molds they are using are replicas.
@@burmiester1 If they are gonna do it, do it right.
@@zacstarr107 I think they've done a phenomenal job. Once again it's literally impossible to make a perfect replica of the Gen 1. They'd have to make an entirely new assembly line and even if they got it as close as possible it wouldn't be perfect because they'd be using new designs of the old parts.
Why would they deliberately downgrade? Not only does that make zero sense, but it also isn't viable to manufacture them the way they did in 1986.
@@burmiester1 They wouldn't have to make a pencil barrel. Most Gen 1 guns weren't pencil barrels.
Picked one up yesterday and dude, I'll say this... if you EVER come across one of these, buy it! Absolutely amazing! The packaging is perfect, the G17 is stunning and ergonomically beautiful. Actually better than its later siblings. The grip feels so good. I cannot believe I didn't find this sooner. If I see another, I'm buying it. Thank you Lipseys for this collaboration and making this happen! Truly🫶
Could we PLEASE get a Gen 2 Glock 19?
They need to explain the difference between this and the Retro P80
I can see the paperwork difference and roll mark, they should let us know the SN of the P80 line
How many of these did glock nake total. I bought one a few years ago as a collectors item.
I have a P80 but don't see the point in having a Classic 17 too. I guess they are the same gun except for markings.
How about a Glock 19 Glassic/Gen2?
What light is everybody running on this? Will a tlr 6 work on this like the 43 and 48?
This doesn't have an accessory rail. That started with gen 3 unless you buy an aftermarket rail that bolts to the frame.
When can we get the 19?
so are they releasing more of these originally they made 5000 first run never heared if the second 5000 run was released if so when are they going to be released
As far as Im aware, these appear to be the second run of 5000. I own both the P80 and this Classic model and from everything I can see theyre the exact same thing just marked either Gen 1 or P80 depending which one you get.
It's almost the same as the new ones
Please do A G19 Gen1 next
💯%
There never was a gen 1 g19
@@Jjm6693 Do you want to make a friendly wager on that?
@@Jjm6693 only gen 2
@@aaronsmith5600the G19 first model was actually a Gen 2
Put back for what
I'd rather have the P80 than this...
This is basically the same thing as a P80 or am I missing something?
This IS a P80... Just doesn't have it stamped on the slide, and doesn't come with the "history of the p80" outer box. Instead you get the "gen1" serial number, and a "history of Glocks in the US" outerbox...
Nothing else different about them...
@@RIPPER334 thats the whole point, a pistol with the P80 stamped is more valuably than this!
@SuperTango44 I have a Glock Pistole 80. I managed to get mine the day they were released, and for less than MSRP. The TFBTV video released on 9/1/2020 with Jason Cloessner of Lipsey's said Lipsey's was going to limit the production of the Pistole 80 to 10,000 units. The first 5,000 available Sept 1st, with the remainder to be released at a later date. I have not been able to find information on if Lipsey's ever produced the 2nd batch of 5,000. This "new" G17 Gen1 makes me wonder if the 2nd batch of Pistole 80s were never produced and these G17 Gen1's are the remainder of the original Pistole 80s that were to be produced. If so, I imagine the Pistole 80 will be worth more as time goes on.
@@SuperTango44 who cares about value, the sucker shoots well. If you care about value then don’t even waist your time and go buy a P80? Gezz lol
🙄
Not a true copy. I don't want an "omage," I want a copy. Pass.
Do we have a release date?
