She is trying so hard. Also you can see she has lost a lot of self-confidence on whether she would ever pass the test and drive normally.
I am just telling you - and everyone else - if you have an awful instructor who is yelling, shaming you, having abusive behavior in every way, you can have over a hundred driving lessons, you won't really learn anything.
I had an intensive course before, paid almost 900 pound to help me succeed, literally we were driving over 6 hours a day, but he was so abusive, made me rush or even over the speed limit, taught me very dangerous things which were obviously wrong, but I knew nothing else back then, so I just believed this is the right thing to do - I was just a student, he has known it better.
I didn't even dare to go the the test, and I gave up all in all. Two years passed, my theory expired so I had to retake it again last week (passed easily), and I found an amazing driver instructor, also I am learning on automatic now to fasten the process and to help me overcome the fear of driving and bad habits.
This instructor is completely stunned on what I have been taught for so much time and we try to start again and learn the good techniques, how to be safe on the roads, do not rush in at a junction if it is not safe, you do not have to drive at the upper level of the speed limit, just around. Completely new informations. And he is so patient, supportive, helpful, explains everything over and over again if I didn't get it for some reason.
I wonder who was her instructor before. You go, girl! Just find a good teacher - for example, just stick with Pin -, and the improvement will be amazing.
    Wish you the best!

Hey mate, I've had the same thing as you did with the abusive instructor, I've had 15 lessons with him, I learned absolutely nothing, the only thing I've developed during that time was fear of driving ( thanks asshole ) . I took a break for a year, I was scared shitless to drive, but I swallowed it and went to another driving school with a new instructor. The guy was amazing, he was calm, polite and really nice. I learned more with him by my side in 4 lessons than with the ex-instructor within 15 lessons. Did so well I passed my driving exam first try.
Please, If you have an abusive instructor, back out ASAP. You're gonna torture yourself and develop bad habits.

    • @lordschwann5417

i think blazing a horn is utterly pointless and serves only to make a potential worse situation. case in point i had only just passed my test and was still sporting my P plates and was out for i think my second drive on my own. i was testing a spiral roundabout (my arch nemisis) and i was taking my time to make sure i was going to the right lane when a heavy duty lorry came right up behind me and started blaring his horn (i wasnt going fast enough for him) anyway his proximity and the horn gave me a huge dose of anxiety and i ended up running a red light. there was no accident but there could have been and i was on edge the rest of the journey.

When I was taking my test I thought to myself, if I pass then great but if I fail then it means I’m not ready or safe enough to be driving by myself, I’m not ready to be responsible for the lives and safety of others in my car, my mum, girlfriend, pet dog etc... could be in the car and I’m responsible for them, so if I fail it’ll be for the best because I don’t want to be a liability on the road. I actually passed first time but thinking about what I said above helped me sort out the nerves and I just drove like I would if I was by myself without an examiner or instructor. Moral of the story, if you fail, you’re not ready and it’s a good thing you’re not driving on the roads with a license because you’ve failed your test which means youre not safe enough, confidence is key, if you know you can drive then the only thing holding you back is the nerves.

So don't feel bad as a lot of us Aussies are expected to do at least 80hrs and that is the standard. Most of us don't pass the first time either. have been watching you for a year now since i started the whole journey and the more i watch you, the more anxious i get when even through a video you'd be writing something down hehe, i can just feel myself in that situation of every video iv'e watched and instead of hearing the SATNAV or the road or other cars passing or the engine, my brain would FOCUS on the point of the pen touching the paper, and that would be the only thing i'd hear, then i'd start to stress and would make faults...advice?
and anothe thing, iv'e become acaccustomed to using the break instead of the hand break when waiting at a traffic stop of moving off, is there an issue with this?

Hi pin, just an observation I've thought about for a while now, when doing the debrief, perhaps include highlight footage of what you are talking about at the time you discuss each point? May make post production take a little longer but I guarantee your viewers would appreciate it. I passed a while ago now but still enjoy your vids, keep it up.

Fair play to her for persisting with this! Some learn quicker than others, for some its so easy but for others its hard. Everyone is different. I took alot of lessons 3 different instructors ( 1 just wanted to rinse me for money, 2nd became ill and had to have surgery, 3rd i passed with her within 6months) i really struggled... i passed the 2nd time on theory and 2nd time driving test... im so happy i passed but i still get nervous. Be 2yrs in september i will have past.
Just think aswell all these lessons and tests her confidence will get much better and she will be a much safer driver from all the learning shes had x x x

About the parallel reverse parking maneuver: If she does it some more, she will be more confident. In my opinion, her carefulness is understandable. What she does not own, is not hers to damage.
Practice will come in time. Parking in those spaces parallel will be a piece of cake!
(Wish everybody was this careful ... my doors - and not the trims! - would not be filled with scrapes and dings from people slamming stuff against them by parking carelessly.)
I see her hesitant behavior in my past ones; shall I try to use the gap? Will I be able to make it? With some time, she will hopefully get to know the car's limits; when can she expect to fit in a gap, and when is it unsafe even with a launch.
Keep improving, Yen. Know how to drive safely, trust in yourself, but also - be kind to others. You will achieve greatness :).

Bless her I hope she can pass. I can kinda relate to her situation as it took me over 2 years and four attempts, and I finally passed my test yesterday with a few minors. Part of the reason why it took me this long is because of nerves, I also had a few on and off with my lessons and changed instructors three times due to various reasons as well as covid. But one thing I have learned is that it’s important to get yourself into the right mindset when driving, and don’t let nerves get into you - so always try your best to plan ahead, don’t overthink and be patient, always on the lookout for the next hazard and check your mirrors whenever possible. If you can get this drilled into your head, you should be able to pass the test and drive safely.

This was quite surprising Pin. First thing was, I thought at at beginning she was in your old car. Most of the faults were much speed and hesitation, but I know a lot of people can struggle with this. Like myself sometimes 😅. I hope Yen will keep trying and I wish her good luck

I really hope you pass. And maybe consider automatic. I started learning with manual and I found it difficult and it made me stress and hate my lessons. Once I switched to automatic.. I started to find it much easier and I only had to focus on the road rather than gear change etc. You will do it Yen. We are all proud of you for not giving up. I hope we get to hear about you passing soon x x x

Yen is unknowingly doing something very important for the learner community and i'm sure what a lot of new drivers will be grateful for, which is that everyone learns at different speeds and we can all be nervous on the roads even after 100+ lessons, it's not unnatural.

  • @scunnygal
    @scunnygal Před 4 lety

Bless her, what a sweet lady! You could see she was clearly nervous, and that was the reason for her hesitations. I can see her reasoning for the other things - the traffic light confused me for a second or two, and it's always quite nerve-wracking if you see a car waiting as you don't know if they're gonna just drive out! I had about 70 lessons and passed third time, and hesitation was one of my downfalls. It's a vicious circle to break out of. I hope she manages to gain her confidence and pass her test!
