Top 1 Demons Suck Now, Here's Why...

- The modern day demon list along with its monthly new top 1 levels have a BIG problem. In this video ill be going in depth in to the problems with top 1 levels in geometry dash today. Ill also be discussing the general state of the GD demon list, and why I think its a hot pile of garbage. Keep in my mind however, that the majority of this video is just my subjective opinion, so weather you agree or disagree with me on a certain point, lets all keep it civil down in the comments.

@@AzureTurk slaughterhouse was the first of its kind, made only to be top 1, and it succeeded at that, (not saying it’s that good). Unfortunately it started the slaughterhouse trend, and most of them were hell. So you can thank slaughterhouse for all the crap.

Slaughterhouse isn't good but I still remember that one time when xqc watched a slaughterhouse completion and was in awe
I couldn’t agree more. I wouldn’t call my self on OG but I started playing a couple weeks after bloodlust was verified and I remembered being so excited over zodiac. I never thought something could dethrone bloodlust. But now there’s just so much top 1s and it’s hard to keep track. I’d say about 80% of the top 1s that are being made are just made to be top 1 and nothing else.

Yes I do a agree there is a problem with top 1’s even though I haven’t watched the full video yet.
What i like to do for a top ~10 level, is always make a mixed gameplay from other levels and try making it original, especially cognition and nhelv (for some reason i like them, but the gameplay is something else my guy), the use of cube gameplat in cognition is kinda fun if you use it right, and if you wanna make really hard gameplay, try going more for "confusion" (what nhelv does) and not "borderline-impossibleness" gameplay.
About the deco, yea i do modern and art so it should be original, i think a level that whould fit all i said rn is an impossible level called "vitrification", it looks awesome, but gameplay as it is a impossible level may not be that good XD
I can accept people who don’t like hard levels but calling thermodynamix not a good song is unacceptable…

Literally we have had like 3 top 5’s that I like as of late - limbo, firework, and zodiac.
I also don’t dislike slaughterhouse, since the gameplay fits the song so well, but I think putting it on the list makes more people legitimately play something that isn’t fun to play, regardless of how it looks or syncs.
I personally feel like your opinion is a Bit extreme but a lot of points you made are totally True.The only thing I dont agree with is acheron beeing a bad level. I feel like its a lot better than most other rescent top 1s we had. Overall, good video and goodpoints

What pepole don't seem to get is that the demonlist isn't supposed to rank the best levels or to be good in any kind of shape or form, it's just supposed to be ranking the hardest rated levels in the game. Kinda pisses me off when pepole said that the demonlist is "ruined". It's objectively wrong, the harder it is, the better it does what it's supposed to do.

agreed. just agreed. demon list is a problem this game have, demon list just make almost every new extreme have a impossible gameplay, especially those on the top 20 or 10. like seriously???? we have a cool top 1 like zodiac, the golden, at top 20???? zodiac was only like 3 years ago man. cant see how the difficulty standard for 2025 is.

The problem is that people think that hell themed levels are the perfect representation of the top 1 difficulty. And omg I wish bloodlust didn't exist

I couldn't agree more. I've been trying to build rlly long unique top ones instead of lvls that are a minute long. Rainbow themes are cooler than red&black for me ngl
A few things I'd like to point out but is my pure opinion:
Acheron is a 1.9 based level, so there isnt much to make a 1.9 level in 2.11 standards cool
Thermodynamix is fire, how does it suck?
SH for me is original as the gameplay is original to an extent, with the structuring of it bringing a crap ton of suspense
Hell, when done right, is so good, for example cata, where for its time was so cool

the hell theme is not generic if it is executed well and you try to add interesting ideas to the level.
There are a lot of hell theme levels with unique atmposheres.

I completely agree with your opinion, this problem should be more publicized in the GD community, I speak Russian, and I understand a little English, but since in the Russian community no one cares about it, I had to look for a like-minded person in the English GD community, i think top 1 level should be number 1 in everything, deco, gp, theme, synk, music, effects. as an example, I can give "limbo", he has a unique gp, good music, sync, theme, and gameplay originality

I feel like a great example of people trying to fix the demonlist is limbo. One of the best levels in the game, but also a top 8. Stunning gameplay, stunning deco, while also being in the top 10. And when you compare it to the rest of the demonlist it is even better. Lesson learned kids, do not make the slaughterhouse, make the limbo
Actually Acheron isn't that bad but the only thing that sucks is that its LITERALLY a copy of tartarus but buffed as hell and not in hell style (so i guess just a better version of tartarus) but nearly the same layout has silent club(step) and silentium gravas. Is it a new trend to take tartarus, buff it as hell, redecorate it and get it to the top 1 spot?
If you really wanna see a good top 1. Go watch ZeroSR’s layout video of TRANSHUMANIST. As well as the decoration progress video. It’s decoration progress (although slow) is really looking good! It’s probably the best (and most underrated) upcoming top 1 right now (I mean it doesn’t have a lot of competition).
The thing is that technically sakupen circles was made long ago around 2016-2017

I genuinely like Acheron, mostly it wasn't intended to be top 1, Zoinks only buffed it to top 1 because he was bored. Also the deco is not memorable because it's 1.9 deco.
My opinion, mixed with facts.
Feel like you should've touched on the fact that while yes 99% of upcoming top 1s are dogwater there are like 2 (out of dozens) that look really good. I think the bandwagon hate against top 1s is incredibly worth it but we shouldn't get to the point where we say all are bad when there are exceptions.

id say u have a lot of very good points, id like to add that top players just beat shit and its the same 4 people all the time and its almost like natural talent of some sorts (u cant get good if youre not talented or havent played since 2016) and because of their skillsets the top gameplay gets more repetitive each time and thats a shame i guess.
also on a side note id like to mention that unlike other top levels slaughterhouse actually has meaning and history (sakupen circles has history i guess but i dont like the redeco) and i dont really like when people say its made to be top 1 (which it really wasnt but whatever its a block game)

I think its crazy how you can literally feed this community the worst garbage and we will style hype it up just because its hard. Take Sakupen Circles for example. I think we can all agree that the level is trash. The original sc was made by some random kid in like early 2.0 - the original deco was completely trash and it had no reason to become as popular as it is. Hell, it even got a re deco. Don’t even get me started on the gameplay. Its literally just a wave challenge.

It being from the same artist has no real relevance in this case, they're still two different songs and I just happen to not like one of them lol.

Slaughterhouse is such a lazy levelit doesn't deserve to be beaten legit. SpaceUK did nothing wrong when he cheating that level, it's a bland hell themed level with straight fly abuse and no original decoration. There is nothing wrong to cheat a bad level. If the level creater won't put in effort to make a good level the player shouldn't have to put in effort to beat it legit.
Tho he did cheat good hard demons so he still deserves to be banned.
But he did nothing wrong with cheating Slaughterhouse.
