So, I’m a Devils fan (if you couldn’t tell), and while frustrating, it is what it is. I can’t complain after a 13 game winning streak. Would have liked to have seen 14+, but what can you do. After the better part of a decade going the way it went, I don’t think any Devil fan can be upset with the caliber of play we’re seeing from our team. I think that the frustration and some anxious nerves got to them tonight, but with the win streak done (for now) they can go back to playing their game without the added pressure of a record breaking streak on their shoulders. Brush it off guys and have some fun out there, it’s been fun watching it for sure. I’m just super stoked that my Devils are the talk of the town lately and are considered the hottest team in the league. Let’s go!!!

Hey, be grateful. I'm a Flyers fan. They're literally playing with an AHL roster because of how many injuries they have. Literally every star play they have, is injured but a few D men and Hayes. The rest are newbies and 4th liners. Couturier, Atkinson, Konecny, Laughton, Ellis, JVR. Then there's the other guys that aren't stars that are injured like Brink. Who was "supposed" to be the season he was going to break out.... gets hurt in the off season. Ellis, out for the season. Coots, out for at least another 3 or 4 months. Atkinson "in the near future". Konecny (who was one of the hottest players in the NHL at the time he was hurt), 2 weeks........
Basically, The Flyers should be wearing Phantoms jerseys.

They got both calls right, not much to see here. The first one isn't much, but he's still in the blue and makes contact with a goalie trying to make a save, second one is a no brainer.
For the 2nd. Shouldn't have he got a 2 min penalty if the contact was on purpose? If it was unintentionall the game goes on and it's a good goal.

He should have gotten it even if it was unintentional because he skated between the goal and the goalie who was returning to the goal. So even if he didn't mean it, he should have gotten a penalty for being "dumb" as in not trying to avoid the goalie by not skating between him and the goal.

Agreed, but it never happens that the calls go against the leafs. That first one, if that was the Oilers that were scored on, instead of disallowing the goal, they would have ruled it a good goal saying that Marner directed the player into the goalie with the stick.
My expert analysis as a neutral party:
The first one was *technically* the right call but it was super weak. Can't be in the blue paint though
The second one would probably count if Tatar makes more of an effort to get out of the way. That's the big difference between this and the call against the Avs that Devils fans are using to justify this one. The Colorado player seems to make an effort there, Tatar does not here
And the kicking motion 3rd goal is in the rulebook.

When the calls are in the favour of the leafs against an American team, everyone goes wild. Them not used to their actions being called out against a Canadian team.
So if we run into a goalie inside the crease it’s obviously a no goal. But what about when the goalie is skating around playing the puck and getting in others way? Is that not the goalies fault or are they just flawless and can never make mistakes?
murray was trying to go towards the net to make a save, and tatar bumped him, thats why
Murray is going back to his net, even a blind guy can see that, yet still Tatar goes and tries to cut him off. He is intentionally trying to interfere with his ability to get back to the net to make the save. If you want to argue for a goal to be allowed, you would have better luck with the first one, the other two are open and shut no goals.
It isn't a fair play if goalie is not in the crease, that's a written sentence in the rulebook.

First one had clear pushing from the defenseman to create contact with the goalie.
The second is just plain inconsistent. Carey Price literally got pulled out of the net for an easy empty netter goal for the Rangers years ago. They called that a good goal.

It's so ridiculous to give a team a delay of game penalty for losing a challenge. The first disallowed goal was a close call, but I think the refs did get it right. But I do think it was close enough to merit review and that it's unreasonable to punish New Jersey for wanting such a close call to get reviewed. It's bad enough having a goal being taken away: punishing them further with a penalty is quite unnecessary.

Wings fan here - If you are talking about that first goal, the NJ player prevents murray from sliding into a better position to save the puck. While it looks like the smallest of touches, murray was trying to slide over and decided that because he could not, to go into butterfly to attempt to save anyway. I think the ref made the right call tbh

I don't like vandalism, but the fact is that reffing has been on a steady decline for quite a lot of time now. Players, coaches and fans are so pissed about wrong calls or missed calls happening 8times per game on average...we just can't give them the benefit of the doubt on close calls anymore. Every job you can do in hockey; from owner to water-boy; you are held accountable for your mistakes. Except one... they never own up to their mistakes and Bettman protects (and even compliments them). They're like the boy who cried wolf, they make a good call, and all we remember are all the incorrect ones in the last 15minutes of play

It's so hard on the 2nd one though. Sure, he hit him, but he made every effort possible to get out of the way of the goaltender in that moment and then the shot that was going wide of the net only got put into the net because of the goaltender. So the incidental contact didn't prevent him from making a save because the save wasn't needed. Just one of those things where you're calling off a goal to protect all goaltenders in the future even though he wasn't in his net to begin with.

Goal is allowed.
D. An attacking player makes other than incidental contact with the goalkeeper at the time a goal is scored.
A minor and/or major penalty, plus assessment of whatever other penalties may be appropriate up to and including supplementary discipline and the goal is disallowed.

Both goals were clearly goalie interference. The best part was that the ref said messed up the call 😂
The 2nd disallowed goal was very much a goal. Per the rules, Murray was outside the crease and not in a set position. That same goal has been called a good goal many times. Tatar had every right to that puck.
Clearly? Clearly?! The rule states it must impair the goalie's ability to move freely. On the first one the only contact was with the right skate of the forward and the left skate of the goalie, and the goalie was still able to get a full stretch with his left leg. There was no impairment of movement.
The second one, the goalie was outside of the crease.

He didn't impede him. The Leaf player is allowed to stand his ground and defend his ice. The Devils player made the choice to cut through the crease and made contat with the goalie rather than go round the defender so clear goalie interference.

That first one is the softest call ever
It was originally called no goal on the ice, therefore it had to be 100% conclusive. If buddy is standing in the blue making some contact with the goalie, that’ll never be 100% conclusive.
For me second was the softest so if it's interference then call it and give Devils a minor, if it's not it's a good goal.

@@user-vx8er3pb3u The contact has to be deliberate to get a penalty. The contact on the second goal was incidental, so no penalty. Just because it is incidental does not mean it is a good goal. In order for incidental contact outside of the crease to be a good goal, the attacking player has to make a reasonable effort to avoid the contact.

The second goal is the only one that could have an argument. Congrats leafs, the refs had to hold your hand the whole way but you were finally able to hold a lead.
For the third goal they have cited some rule in Devils broadcast so according to that rule goal should be disallowed, for the first I can see an argument about not being able to overturn on ice call, but the second is one WTF REF?
