Oh yes, I do !!! I love to clean and at almost 84 I can't do what I want to do !! I have a cleaner come every month !! love your home !!! My husband and I do what we can between. but oh how I miss it and working in our yard with flowers !!
So glad you hear you made it thru the storm ok and that your crawlspace is dry. I would recommend that you replace your sump pump every 5-6 years because they can fail at the worst times. Hugs for Linden for making it 19 years! Blessings always..
My mother is 85 and on her own. She lives in the middle of the Texas desert alone. Her closest relative is her sister and she is 11 miles away. My mother still works. She runs the post office in her county and cleans hunting lodges nearby. Fiercely independent and hard headed! I live in Georgia but every year me and my husband go out and get her garden started for her. She loves her gardens...vegetables and flowers! It is a challenge considering where she lives. She uses gray water a lot! She will not let her age stop her. Glad you made it through the storms!

You are weather-wise Kaye which is something many from places where the weather seldom is violent, may not know to practice. Glad for your know-how and do! Yes a lot of work, but probably a lot less damage to your home and maybe you! I continue to pray for those up in the North of TN near KY and MO who may have big big flooding. Also those who have been tornado victims and first responders and clergy. Good your cistern is finally holding some water - probably.
Years ago I grew birdhouse gourds in NM. They grew everywhere into my neighbors tree. I had my husband cut holes in them for the birds to use. Wasps liked them. But the rest I cleaned and used brown shoe polish to paint them sort of. They were beautiful and looked like a expensive wood finish. I sent everyone I knew that Christmas for gifts.
Oh ms Kaye I was worried about you. It took roof off barns out the road from you! I still don’t have power. I’m watching my freezers and fridges defrost now. 🙄I am the only one here that’s a prepper and was told we had a generator for small stuff like this! I’m losing food I’ve put back😭😭😭. Old man on his tractor working on driveway🫡🫡🫡. Father blessed, no damage. Your garden patches are glorious! The grapevines❤️❤️❤️

Glad your generator was working. Those are so important for a homestead. You should do a video all about the experiences and in's and out's of your generator.

Kaye, glad you made it through the first part of the storm and hopefully made it through what was to come. Here in Kentucky, we receive 2 1/2 inches of rain. To leave our home we have to cross a creek. I'm glad I could work from home because the creek was running acres the driveway and there was no way to get out until the water went down. Glad you have more plants but it's a lot of work to redo your garden. Sending prayers.

We have 30 tomato plants at risk. We are concerned. Storms are just rolling in here. Something got in the fence and ate 13 okra plants down to the ground. Thankful for what we have but so much work went into all grown from seed. Stay safe Kaye!
The homestead life is not for sissies that’s for sure! We had loud thunder and lightning last night and early this morning. My daughter has a senior cat around the same age as your Lyndon. So sad when our companions get so old. Stay safe through that bad weather!😘❤🙏🏻✨
I've been thinking about you and praying. I'm glad you're safe, and that it’s dry under your house. I'm sorry about your garden😢 Get your rest, friend. There were wild strawberries on my parents' farm, and they were out-of-this-world sweet! But at my house, we have "Indian Strawberry" (not a very nice name, but I didn’t come up with it!) Indian strawberry blossoms are pretty bright yellow flowers. The berries are red, and not poisonous, but they don’t taste good. They're very small. Ohio and Tennessee share a lot of the same wildflowers, so maybe the Indian Strawberry is what you tasted. The ones you picked in the video look like wild strawberries.
It was one tense day here in Western Kentucky. Glad that you made it through with no tornado damage, Kaye. So many were affected in so many different places in the US. Very peaceful and beautiful today...but, the Sun just hurled "multiple high speed CME's" towards Earth so more storms ahead. We had better keep our helmets handy. :/

I always say it’s always something! Even when not owning a homestead but a home,apartment, etc….always something comes up that needs to be done.

Hi Kaye, hearing you mention 70mph winds reminded me of way back when my brother and I were teens. Norfolk, Va was getting his with some sort of a storm, unsure if a tornado or hurricane or just high winds. My brother & I had just returned from our school day and as we approached the front door, which had an aluminum screen door on the outside, my brother opened it but couldn’t keep ahold of it in the 70mph winds, it bent completely backwards, broke off and went flying into our neighbor’s front yard. We just looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders (probably laughed also - teen years) and went inside. My father was furious with us when he got home from work about a half hour later. I’m unsure of the remedy, if it was an easy fix or what, but just another weather event called to mind. Much love..✌🏻

We’ve gotten a lot of rain and been so blessed the worst of the storms went north east. Which is of course your neck of the woods. Absolutely beautiful today low humidity and a breezy 72 ish. More rain on Monday
I was up at 2 a.m. bringing in my seedlings from the storm off the back deck. A few of them got pelted but they should be okay. In any case, I'm dragging today.

Storms will be rolling into my area northeast of Houston. Many neighbors in the rural areas outside of town have flooded. Storms are coming back tonight and again on Mother's Day and the Monday following it. I stopped at the store today to get some milk as I don't know if I will be able to get out for a few days, and I generally don't shop on Saturdays or Sundays as the stores are more congested. I like shopping when it is quieter, so I can think and not hear kids throwing fits.

@@marthareedy I haven't done delivery, but I have done pickup, a lot. Since going to the senior center, however, I don't have $35 worth of groceries to buy. I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits and the people who pick for me at the store, don't seem to know much about produce. In the beginning I got good pickers, but towards the end, not so much. I still do pickup for non produce items.
Stay safe. My cat kept bugging me today for food but there was food in his dish. Come to find out I gave him dog food instead . He wasn’t having it. LOL. I love getting old.

Kaye do you have a battery back up for your sump pump? Make sure you get one. If power goes out, sump pump doesn't work. I learned the hard way. With the doplar systems that they have installed that work tandem with the cell towers to increase and intensify storms IF you can afford it please get a tornado shelter. It used to be where the mountains broke up the storms. Not so much anymore. I think you can get one for 5K?
