Normally we use NOS on the straights, but in NFS Unbound you use NOS to reduce understeer and corner faster
Exact same mechanic was prevelant in NFS Undercover but on a whole new level. You literally gained downforce from NOS😂
I love you for using the ultimate OG NFS music I forget the name of the game but I remember it from PS1 and ps2
^_^
@@Spherz almost same mechanic was even in NfS Most Wanted. Using NOS during speedbraker, for example
No. 05 never had that.
I find that this super grip technique throws you off the road whenever there is a bump or change in elevation. On flat surfaces it has worked flawlessly thus far.
I hope someone tells KuruHS he's been having his jimmies rustled by this since the beginning so much that he's advocating for the removal of this mechanic
@@MenkoDany kuru is sad if he doesnt understand the game fully ;-;
@@BlizardOfficial Yeah it's infuriating
@@MenkoDany people complain the old NFS games are better when they complain about a game mechanic that was literally in the old games. In the original NFS most wanted, you could use the nos around corners for maximum grip all the time. It was an in game tip. Lol
@@yamaha94O That is not a fair comparison, those game mechanics aren't comparable
This "super grip" is literally an inspiration from Midnight Club 3's vacuum nitro. It's really cool to play both games and see the similarity.
Criterion purposely made this game as arcadey as it could by making the skill-gap as "how much you could gain and use burst Nitrous wisely". And I fucking loved it.
So basically the yellow nos just adds a unique mechanic to master if you wanna be fast, I'm fine with it.
It also pushes your car forward in the direction it's facing, no matter what. So you can cancel drifts with it, which allows you to take very sharp turns.
@@Oscar97o yeah the L turn. I'm glad that criterion added this
@@Oscar97o i LOOOOOVE pulling that off. it's the most satisfying maneuver to pull off
@@Oscar97o I remember that mechanic from asphalt 8
@@Oscar97o asphalt 8 memories
That looks fun rather than game breaking ngl
You're not wrong.
The developers 100% intended for people to use it this way, why wouldn’t they make burst NOS the way it is?
The game literally tells you about this in the tutorial. It’s part of gameplay
Something of note: Any time your car gets even a slight whiff of air, turning input gets interrupted until you have all four wheels on the ground again. The two examples of sudden oversteer at 1:40 both have this, with the first having a slight rise that you can barely lose ground contact on and the second occurring during a curb hop.
i've noticed this in that one harlow drift zone and any other courses where you have to turn after a jump. Game fun but handling model is inconsistent.
@@beat-man5167 Well if your wheels don't touch the ground. The result should be loss of control. There are a few cars I will lose control for no reason whatsoever. The eclipse is a prime example. I've had a couple time it just suddenly turns and you can't control it afterwards.
@@oscarfunez3806 yeah a great mechanic to have in a game where you're constantly going fast
@@IamJay02 Not every car is like that though. Some have better grip than others. Although it wouldn't make sense to maintain control if your wheels aren't touching the floor. So that isn't a mechanic but rather common sense.
@@oscarfunez3806 It's a arcade need for speed game it isn't supposed to make sense. That super grip oversteer shit looks so annoying to deal with when you're in a high intensity race while trying not to fuck up.
i appreciate the NFS high stakes back ground music lol brings back the childhood memories.
Yellow nos boost is the key to winning.
Cars that can more easily build it up can generally do better.
People who played Undercover are familiar with this one lol
Nitro in Most Wanted also slightly increased grip
I love simulation oriented games like Forza and all that, but those arcade mechanics + advanced tech is so fun, to discover, to master and to watch.
then play mario kart
@@Carbon_ most shittiest take I've heard in a while lol
There can be more arcade racers than Mario Kart
It's pathetic and it's a joke for what it's come to.
Lol forza is an arcade racer. Try assetto, beamng or iracing
The reply on these comment never have fun playing video game lmao
1:58 Omg its the in game menu song from Need for Speed: High Stakes. So many memories, I loved that game when I was kid
Bro, that Need For Speed Carbon race soundtrack it's so perfect, makes the races more intense
NFS Undercover physics
same thing was in NFS Undercrover, where nitro gave you additional grip which allows to cornering sharp turns at 300+ km/h :D
Same with NFS Carbon. Use NOS in combination with the slow motion mechanic and you could pull off some insane turns.
This is the most interesting and informative video I've seen about Unbound thus far.
a moment of respect for the R-34 skyline taking the L and not ramming like ppl do.
I think he tried to if you’re reffering to the clip at 0:44
@@RBEss 3:30
The music selection. Thank you. High stakes is awesome
Thanks I'm new to NFSU and trying to understand the techniques!
Just came here to say thank for using the high stakes soundtrack. Made me happy.
nice to see nfsmw '05 has the best grip handling to date cuz the tires move as quick as your inputs and the wheels had better turning angle, but just like the other nfs that came out ill buy it since its on sale n problly play it for like 3 days n dip
never thought i would start feeling nostalgic about the NFS 2015 garage music
That NFS Carbon music is dope!
Let's all admit we have ever abused NOS in a race in Need for Speed
Always and this will never change 😂
I prefer NOT to use nos
@@nyckae8587 lol I rarely use it😂
@@fbiagent2740 same, at this point I tap it for cosmetic look somewhat
I think consistent & clever usage of it, is actually encouraged in these games.
At least, my experience can vouch for that.
Brooo the first song in the first race you played was in the original need for speed high stakes for the ps1. What a throwback 😢
Awesome and clean racing
Nice driving man!
NFS High Stakes music in the first race. Nice
Too bad that every time I try to use burst nos in corners, some random pebble is in my racing line and totally breaks the physics.
Thanks Ghost physics
It's Criterion Games.. not Ghost that made Unbound.
@@Enpatsu393 But the physics remain mostly the same as in the Ghost games
*Frostbite physics*
@@Enpatsu393 Tbh it’s just ghost using criterion’s name atp. Infact the handling developer since nfs2015 is still in-charge.
This kinda reminds me of SRB2K's drift boost mechanic. When you drift spark boost in SRB2K, you get 100% full control of your kart for about a second which allows you make any adjustments to your turn, unlike Mario Kart where that boost is sending you forward for a second.
Man hearing that classic Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit music...they gotta make the next game bring back classic EDM
Last race was a close call, ISAD was few seconds ahead of the 2nd place racer! ISAD did turn the tables on the last race!
He beat a broken/OP Pista in a B class race, something that you can only manage in this race since it's a speed race, and the pista has good 0-60, but top speed limited to 128 if I'm not wrong. Only ISAD can do this.
OK OK I NEED to know, at 2:08 did you add Quantum Singularity from NFS High Stakes or is that part of Unbound's soundtrack... High Stakes was my childhood and I love that OST so much
OMG! @1:46 this happens to me soo much when driving the Exige & Viper. Between this, racing line traffic, left behind pileups and rammers, honestly don't make an effort to win races anymore.
nice background music like !
Yeah I pretty much used this concept with drifting and won 21 races in a row online. Just use NOS to snap out of drift and keep insane speed. I lost when I decided to do a circuit race against a bunch of grip cars lol
i loved the nfs carbon and most wanted musin in the background + the cars u used good video
To avoid traction loss improve the relation between grip, downforce and steering sensitivity. Slightly reducing steering sensitivity can help avoiding this occurence, specially at high speed turns. Still it will happen most of the time when going from road to other surfaces like paviment or dirt. Cars with offroad suspension and tires can avoid this effect, or control it better.
This technique works even better with faster cars. Nothing like flying into a corner at 203mph, to then leave it at 215mph.
The yellow nitro, apart from making the car go quicker, decreases the turning radius while keeping the current speed and also making the car somewhat immovable (maybe its also adding weight temporarily?).
Let's say the above is true, then the reason you are getting these "super grip moments" is probably because you were activating said nitro on a turn you were making quite comfortably already.
I think.. 😅
Nah, you can literally use it to save a turn you were gonna miss. Is very potent as long as you don't spin out
@@craigkingdon4424 well yeah that's what I'm saying (the part with making the turning radius smaller).
@@darkmegaman44 you worded it badly and definitely doesent sound like you said that...
@@s_for_short2400 hmm, I see. Might have sounded a little vague there. Point noted!
Racing games with arcade handling are exciting and make them incredibly fun, i think this game is the true successor to NFS 2016
I still need a sucessor for NFS Underground 2.
@@nearscatman5544 The devs would have to get an actually good taste in music for that to happen lol
@@napoleonblownapart9043 fr
nfs 2015 music goes so well with unbound !!!!
i’m so glad you beat the ferrari in the last race 😂
Bro unlocked franklins driving ability 💀
That nostalgic music tho
yup, i was happy when i realized this was a thing in Unbound. I used to abuse the sh*t outta this back in NFS undercover and Carbon, too. I think it even worked on The Run. Also, my friend taught me this nifty little trick, but you can go full speed towards a hairpin turn, and as long as you have a boost ready, you can drift, and once you car is facing towards the exit, hit the boost and it'll pretty much ignore physics and launch your car in a straight line out the exit.
In mw now straightened your car out like crazy
Also understanding amount of grip you have on your car. To avoid boosting out of the pavement, try to tilt your stick the opposite way of your drift. But becareful on how hard you push it against. And also you have to use your own judgement on how long you’re tilting your stick against the drift. This game is so technical, I love it.
Mind you, you’re doing all of this mid drift btw
Didn't know about this. I thought it would work the same way Midnight Club did. That explains why my car would suddenly oversteer when I use the boost at the end of a grip turn.
is the carbon music playing ingame? or did you add it yourself while muting ingame music due to copyright?
Nice use of 90s NFS music for this vid
Lmao 😂 the first online race at the end, that was on some fast and Furious shit 😂
Yo i Remember your Nick lol i Met you in some race online for sure nice cars btw
This idea feels like I'm playing an asphalt and burnout game😮
That method was what I used for burnout paradise
I like the use of High Stakes score
Im wondering does that make drifting obsolete ? Since this is a way better way to take hard angles ?
You know, i have been treating the burst Nos like Midnight clubs Slipstream turbo a bit too long. Might be time for a change after watching this vid
That nfs high stakes soundtrack
I'll keep that in mind. xP
Nice tip!
I use the Volkswagen Golf in B class races with super grip and it's a beast. I don't know why everyone doesn't use super grip. Most people I race with just drift corners.
The ultimate "too soon junior" tool
For the car to not do the weird glitch just turn off the brake tap or gas tapso it doesnt try to drift which is what makes you slide that way.
The final race results showed everyone using the sti but I swear I saw a ferrari, a hatchback and a police cruiser. Hmm, must have been the wind...
The hatchback is the Ford Focus RS
Its a glitch where it shows ur opponents picked the same car as you. I encounter it all the time.
omg thank you

"tea bagging without tea bagging is still tea bagging" - Winston Churchill
Nice of you to use Photon Rez from NFS High Stakes - But a credit to Rom Di Prisco would be nice :)
Basically NFS Undercover.
You can turn off any inputs that make your car drift in the tuning tab of that car. Maybe that will solve the issue when you get shot off? Because from the looks of it it seems to come from firing after engaging a drift.
With all the tunes that I’ve seen from ISAD, he turns off Drift entry entirely and turns on traction control so I don’t that’s the reason could just be the physics themselves from the suspension bottoming out and losing traction
From my experience the cars tend to just lose traction uncontrollably sometimes for no discernible reason, I believe that’s what happened there
I started doing the challenges to unlock cars but some challenges are diffucult without a friend
What was that soundtrack playing in the last race?
Am I tripping. Or are you drifting on the initiation of the corner to save your booster from timing out?
3:29 skyline driver was like: nooo, Monicaaaa!!! Lmfao
it's a good mechanic and the game is beautiful.
Noti gang on deck
I've noticed that the Eclipse may very well be a contender for A+ if handled correctly.
We will have to wait and see with competitive communities doing testing.
Eclipse is very slow, not enough acceleration. The game's performance class favors top speed a lot. The eclipse has a top speed of 200mph in A+ which is way too much. The average top speed of A+ class builds is 160-180mph.
@IsuckAtDriving I noticed you tried getting around that through having more accel stats by reducing the gear count, and probably putting more power and better tires on.
R.I.P. dude at 1:03 😭😂😂
i like how they said that they changed the phsyics of drifting corners and not having fasty exit speeds when drifting a corner because its not realistic but then theres this haha
Nice 👍
nfs carbon music, i like it !
reminds me of undercover the old days guys
Could the uncontrollable turn happen only on AWD cars?
Hey man, I need an advice. It is better to have on the handling options for each car the grip or the drift preference?
Is this game fun tho. Like a lot to do or will I get bored or is competition kinda fun. Easy to get into hard to master mechanics?
What's the song you used in the 1st race from. It's giving me a mad nostalgia trip.
Edit: wait a second is that from Carbon?
Yep, Bending Light/Belt.

Cool vibrations
nfs high stakes ost 🤤
You can corner with even more angle if you grip nos without using throttle
*Writes down on notebook
1:05 bro went flying
I'm so glad I'm a single player enjoyer, so many busted things in Lakeshore Online that makes it boring to race against.
Enjoying this game but I swear the physics are crazy inconsistent
I know that song from NFS Hot Pursuit 3 on PS1
1:40 this is what tends to happen a lot when I try this but maybe it’s just dependent on the drivetrain
That's super counter intuitive but I'll try make use of it
Huh. That's an interesting mechanic.
Also fun fact: It makes the steering not feel dogshit when you use it.
I think I know why in some situations the cars turn too far and you run off the track. Now I'm not 100% positive. But I'm mostly sure after watching it a couple times, that it happens because you hit the nos and then you jump from the curb to the street or make a jump at all, and the game makes you slide for a second when you come down which makes you turn a bit cause you're turning into the turn instead of counter steering which you'd normally do. So when it's done sliding for the 1 sec you catch your super grip again and then jet off. Now once again I'm not 100% sure that's why it happens. But that's just what it seems like to me.
"NOS Gripping," more like Fujiwara Zone type shit
I hear NFS High Stakes music that I haven't heard in 15+ years.
