You tripled the work by not just cutting a square hole. Then all you need is a ruler to cut a perfect fit patch.

My friend... I love your videos... And I am also from Washington... You can save a lot of time if you cut the new drywall patch (bigger than the hole) then trace the new piece and cut the drywall and fit the new piece in to the newly cut hole. Your attention to detail is great, apply the new method and you will save a lot of time and energy

"Please enter name" and "Kirk S" are SO right!! You cut it into a square or rectangle. @Fix it All No paper towel, no tracing paper... just measure. And do NOT do a teardrop shape!! It isn't an art project. You MUST use mesh tape around it or it WILL crack around the edges. You made it WAY too complicated!!

I just saw this on a facebook ad from Architecture and Design. I knew I saw the avocado hole from somewhere else. Hope they paid you well for using your video.

This is one way to fix a hole in drywall. Not the right way, of course, but an amateur hack. No backing at all and no tape. If you want a hack method that actually takes longer longer that the right way and is less sturdy, this is the method for you.

Bravissimo, mi serviva proprio questo video perché ho fatto un buco sul cartongesso ma l'ho fatto troppo grande. Grazie a te chiunque tu sia.

Yes, it would be easier to make a square patch but square shapes stand out much easier than oblong ones. With materials like drywall, mdf or even concrete, 90 degree corners are weak because its just pressed dust. Therefore, shapes with fewer corners are stronger over time. The tracing part actually makes matching the shape pretty quick. I don't see anything wrong with this. It takes a little longer but its much stronger than a "california patch" and looks better because you don't have to feather much at all. Using fibre tape or even paper tape instead of wooden stick supports, still requires more feathering and relies on the strength of paper or fibres. The result is usually a lump on your wall where in certain lights, it stands out like a sore thumb. When the house shifts, those seams are the first things to crack. Don't you love lumpy, cracked drywall?

I’ve seen you use tape on other drywall joints. Why not on this patch?
