I don’t think people realize when Melo was healthy the hornets where the 4th seed last year
Yup people tend to forget when he was healthy they were actually top of the East climbing to the 2nd seed then he got hurt and they literally fell all the way down to the 9th seed

He’s the “it” factor that some players just don’t have. Anyone who can get a triple double is always great in my opinion. He’s really going to breakout this year. Don’t forget he was on and off with minutes last season. Also Hayward is the x factor for this team.

Westbrook averaged a triple double in 4 out of the last 5 years, yet he’s been taken out in the 1st round all of those years.
The only time he made it to the 2nd round, he didn’t average one.

Lamelo was hot from 3 but struggled scoring inside, rather than depending on his 3pt shot it made more sense to defer to Hayward.
It makes sense to go to your veterans in crunch time anyway. They said this too, but he'll eventually get to the point where he's their first option in those situations

The biggest problem for the Hornets this season will be the basketball chemistry and mutual relationship between LaMelo Ball and Gordon Heyward..... in those critical moments of the 4th quarter or in overtime, who has and is in control of the basketball in those critical moments in order to win games.
Keep in mind that Terry Rozier whose a volume scorer, didn't play in the first regular season game against the Indiana Pacers.
Melo who had the hot hand in the second half, deferred to Hayward and he wasn't productive late in the 4th quarter.
Melo, Rozier and Heyward....3 starting players who can get buckets and each score 30 or more points in any game and at any time who needs the ball in their hands......only one basketball.
A great problem to have if the chemistry is right between all three, it works successfully that would easily win games. be one of the best teams in the eastern conference and make it to the playoffs.
