what if I want to use port 443 for client and admin web UI and port 943 with VPN traffic.

Straight to the point, thank you muchly. The only bit I'm confused on is why bother with elastic IP, from what I can tell this is not included in free tier so you will be charged. And I seem to be able to SSH in and connect my VPN client using the default public IP...
To answer my own question 😆 the setup will take the existing public IP and will rely on that forever. So if you are NOT using elastic IP and shut down and restart the instance, it will have a different IP and will not work from that point on I believe. However on free tier it seems that as long as an elastic IP is assigned to an instance there isn't any cost... happy to be corrected though.

which ssh client are you using and is it mac or windows?
i am using iterm2 for mac , you can use mobaxterm for windows, both are very similar and mobaxterm might be more flexible

yes, i might have some additional alias as per my requirement, but stock config would do the job

i just named the security group as openvpn,
you can give it any name, just make sure the ports i have mentioned are open
If OpenVPN is blocked in my country, can I set up a lightway protocol vpn on aws or is this not possible?
i didnot get your question properly , if you can , can you write in details ,
@@technologybyme the OpenVPN protocol is blocked in my country. They block all traffic going over that protocol.

Technically, it cannot be blocked,
unless your country has great firewall and its blocking all UDP to all AWS IPs , which is very unlikely

You will be notified once you go over the limit ,
so use it only when you need it
