    So striper season is winding down and it's time to prepare for next year.I just finished making 90% of your Gen 3 Pomp jig, waiting on the rest of the materials I've ordered through your links..I can't thank you enough for your patience in making these easy to understand videos and sharing your knowledge.Keep up the great work,we appreciate it.

      I think it makes a lot of sense to order one from you. I don’t have the tools you have. I don’t have the skills you have. By the time I buy all of the materials I would have spent that much anyway and then I would have a lot left over. But the best part is I get to have a jig made by a patriarch like you.

    • @shumardi1
      @shumardi1 Před rokem +1

      Well the jig came today. It looks really nice. I think you made improvements to it since this video was made. It came with a clamp to clamp it to the table which was unexpected but a very nice touch. I took through a quick practice run before jumping onto my exercise routine. I can see how easy it will be to crank out rigs with this jig. With 50 lb mono the branch leader to the hook was 7” which is what the Sinker Guy swears by so you guys must think alike. Thank you for a very nice jig and very fast shipping.

      @@PompanoBrownie ok thanks.
      I just heard that from an older man who fishes strictly pompino.
      He said they're a sight fish and heavier lines spook them. Thanks.

    • @PompanoBrownie
      @PompanoBrownie  Před rokem

      Danno, I’m an older man that targets pompano. I learned how to tie rigs from an old timer that used 50lb Dark Green mono. He caught more fish than three fishermen combined. His biggest secret.. Good Bait. Live Sand Fleas, cooked sand fleas and fresh clams. All tipped with Fishbites in case the fresh bait is flicked off during the cast. He used all 13ft surf rods with conventional reels. For an old man he had no problem casting 100 yards with bait and 5oz sinker. When the Pomps are “ On the Bite” you have to get that fresh bait to them and fast. Also, use a shock leader or you will feel the pain of being down to 2 rods when the bite is on. He used to change his 50 lb shock leaders EVERY day. My main line on the reel is 14lb mono.
      Tight Lines!

    Can I make the copper spinner out of pvc

    • @PompanoBrownie
      @PompanoBrownie  Před rokem

      It would be too large. Either copper tubing or order the 3-D printed .

  • @michaelross5674

    I'm guessing I could make this out of pvc trim board also

    • @PompanoBrownie
      @PompanoBrownie  Před rokem +1

      That would probably work… just make sure the screws holding mini clamps are a coarse thread and at least 1 1/4” long. White pine might be cheaper.

      Speaking of 28 ga hulls.. cut that in half.. or a pen… just not sure why you would spend all the time on copper and having it nick ur line when plastic is easier to sand … Any reason u can’t use plastic?

  • @garybauer124
    @garybauer124 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Could you use the same diameter PVC for the spinner.

    • @PompanoBrownie
      @PompanoBrownie  Před 8 měsíci

      Gary, it requires a thin walled 3/8 inch outside diameter tube. I’ve tried a bunch of stuff out there and everything is too flimsy by the time you cut it in half or too bulky. The copper works great if you have the patience to build one. The 3-D spinner works great, but cost me a 3-D printer. Lol.
