Filming equipment: Videos filmed with the Sony ZV 1. Photography camera Nikon D5500 DSLR. The soap has gone slightly more purple over the weekend. I have put it on the curing racks in such a way that it gets air all around each bar to give it the best chance of having a consistent colour.

Tiggy (Jo Haslauer here ) Thank you so much for trying Alkanet. I am so humbled that you have mentioned me. The magic of the color change is my favourite part of using plants for color! Its just amazing. The waiting for the final color is my least favourite part! You should know the final color in 7 - 10 days with Alkanet. I am so thrilled you got blue! Alkanet likes full gel so that is one thing I always check for. I also think as you do, that you need more in the infusion to begin with. For me Alkanet roots are a bit hit and miss which is why I prefer the powder alkanet, more surface area to infuse the oil. I also like longer, stronger infusions but it is definitely possible to do a heat infusion if it is strong enough to begin with. You will just have to test it to see the level in your recipe, just like you have said everyone's recipe is different. I will be watching to see how the color changes and I thank you for inspiring others by using plants. I am beyond thrilled to see this video! x

Heyyyy you! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving me a lovely detailed, and informative comment. I so appreciate it the colour has changed already into a deeper shade of (kinda) purple. I'll post a pic tomorrow when I'm back at work. I do need to use more for sure so I'll try again in the future and I'll look for the powder version. Thanks so much again, the blog post you wrote was a great help. All the best xx

I agree with the ones wondering how it will cure - I have seen wonky things turn out beautiful and lovely turn ugly. Crossing my fingers for you!

Still a beautiful color even if it doesn't quite turn out as purple as you would like. Still reminds me of lavender. Love this!

I absolutely love using Alkanet root... I love that gorgeous deep red, that amazing change to purple and then the end result after the cure is just amazing too. I also use it in my lavender soap, its the perfect colour 😁
I love watching your videos 😍

I use 20g in 400g of olive oil but I hot infuse it then leave it for a couple of weeks. (I leave mine on the side of the Aga but not everyone has one of those 🙈) Don't laugh but I strain it through a pop sock!

Hey Tiggy! I did a hot infusion with my oils and the Alkanet root powder and that was a week ago as they cure it has definitely gotten a dark beautiful royal purple.. I used a Huckleberry scent and it is just amazing! yours will certainly darken up and as always your soaps are just beautiful!

It didn’t meet your goal with purple, but it’s quite a lovely color anyway. Lots of depth. Lovely Smokey blue. Experimenting with new things is always fun!

Hello Tiggy!!! I used alkanet powder a little over a month ago and what I did was mix my alkanet root powder with very hot water (just a little before boiling point), I let it sit for as long as my lye water cooled down (maybe 30 minutes or so) and got a very deep purple (just like a plum color). I also added at trace...
    Hope this helps...

This looks great!! I'll have to research alkanet root and see what the health properties are. I'm hoping the colors start popping out more for you but we'll see with time. Excellent job dear!! 😁😉❤🙏

hey tiggy, totally not related to this vid, but figured i'd share with ya anyways lol. i found a yt channel that i think you'd love!! the behavior panel. they go into diff murderers, celebrities stories etc and explain how they drop themselves in the cack just from their body language. it's fascinating, n i think you'd probs enjoy watching them lol. edited to add that i use alkanet root quite often. defo double the amount, and try anchoring the colour with a smidge of TD. it seems to help the colour stay stronger in the cured soap, no clue why tho lol. it's a good one for ombre designs, just add more td each time

Tiggy - do you cover/insulate/CPOP your moulds while your soap is ‘cooking’ or just leave them on your bench until the ‘cut’?

Beautiful Tiggy as always.. I just struggle with understanding the temperature you soap at. How does it gel with oils so low at 20c.. I have to go at 50c to get the soap to gel and harden.. arrrghh the struggle of my life 😩
