Dan you’re crazy 😆! You ever hunt with Dan Fitzgerald? He used to kill giants. Once he stalked deer in a swamp and killed it with his bow it was unbelievable in the early 90’s. He was a heck of a shot instinctively too! Anyway keep stomping!
Stinging nettles is very high in vitamin C and you can steep it in hot water for about 10 minutes. Very good for you.
Nothing like a Beast video on the weekend.
Great video brother!
Really love the content and appreciate your help inspiring our YT channel down here in South Louisiana! Good luck this season! Thanks for making these videos and sharing with us! 👍🏻😎🇺🇸
Which area of Louisiana? I’m in area 4
@@blakenaquin-o3j we used to hunt area 4 in Clinton and Franklinton LA. We moved to NW Louisiana. Got those transplanted Wisconsin Blues - big bucks from the 1950’s up there 👆🏼
Veteran Day rut compared to Christmas 🎅🏽 ruts. We can hunt 3 ruts here 💥🇺🇸🎉
Dan, you’ve worn your scent lok suit back in there! Haha
Yes!
Love the OG scouting videos
Jewelweed plant, Native American medicine relieves itching and pain from poison ivy, stinging nettle, and other skin sores and irritations.
Love these summer scouting videos! Keep them coming Dan!
I check spots like this in summer a lot to see the setup and foliage I missed in post season. I hunt mostly farm country and hill country and I have found that the vast majority of bucks that I will be hunting in the fall aren’t anywhere near those bedding areas in summer. The deer I see or picture in summer are rarely seen again there in season. Most seem to shift a lot
Been scouting GA/AL in some 100 degrees. Uppercutting mosquitos, hurdling snakes and hoping for pigs
85 thats a cold front in Louisiana- we at 99 with heat index of 109-supposed to get down to 89 Monday - thinking about a gumbo 😅
Love your style of hunting. It's not for me though, but I learn a lot from you!
Here's for Tiffany! Lol!
Great video of a quick scout and picking a tree based on the previous year hunt. Also testing the thermals with the wind you’ll be hunting out of the stand. Where I hunt on 100 acres i have 3 trees I’ll hunt out of, and 3 I’ll do an observation sit in. Wind is crucial when picking a tree as you’ve mentioned. Being patient enough to not hunt out of that tree with a bad wind is even more important. This is a tough thing, out smarting a whitetail in their sleeping quarters.
Really like these scouting videos Dan, thanks for posting.
July has been brutally hot and humid! In the Midwest
Glad to see you avoided the stinging nettle helicopter ride.
Dan your shirt at the end about guns is f*ng awesome!
I usually do those missions in the rain or just before. Then leave it be.
I watched an MSU deer lab video that suggested that deer get over hunter activity in less time than what remains before the opener. You should be good. Good luck this fall.
Best shirts in the business!
85? You must have had a cold front go through. 😉
Nice spot Dan, good luck buddy...
A good hard rain(there will be one), will clean that area up real nice...
While scouting I once slipped on a hidden wet log right into waist high stinging nettle....
(Lesson learned)
Dan look into Wiggys waders u can put them over your boots and when u get to land take them off dry quickly.!!!!!
Nice shirt 👍🏼
The lack of snakes disturbs me
Cant remember the last time I saw a snake while scouting. Years ago I was always cautious, now no need to he.
@@brooks8656come to South LA! 🐍everywhere! 😱
Why would that disturb you???
@@dualthreatoutdoors becaus of the terrain ! Here in louisiana u would 100 percent come across at least 10 cotton mouths minimum this time of year
@@brooks8656 must be nice
85 degrees that’s cute it’s 95-100 with thru the roof humidity here in south Alabama would love to see 85.
That being said I’ll be crying when it’s below 50 this winter and you guys up there walk around in flannel shirts when it’s in the 30’s guess it’s all in what where used to.
Flannels????? More like a t shirt if it’s in the 30s lol
Hey Dan get you a drone fly over one with thermal you can located big buck find bedding trails etc
Sounds like cheating
Summer scouting is a complete nightmare
Dude that ain't sweating! I sweat that much walking from the house to my truck IN THE MORNING! Loved the video though.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Me too! You must be from South East?
@@bryanroberts I'm in South Mississippi.
@@bryanroberts yep Jackson Co
Fabulous shirt Dan.
I have a good summer's soup recipe out of stinging nettles.
Nice work Dan. 😎
Summer scouting has been brutal this year.
Nope, nope, nope to the snapping turtle! Glad I hunt the hills lol, but we have rattle snakes to deal with here
Hey dan, when your buulding gets finished will you move your mounts there? Wouldnt mind seeing an updated video on your mounts since you have a few more giants added.
Yep
Another great video, Dan! On the boots, I've been hearing whatever size you have worn, you should order a half size smaller?
They seem to be right o0n size to me... You can call them (Jack) and he can answer better than me though.
Given the time of year, do you think with bucks being on their summer patterns that you'd disrupt anything rolling through there once?
Yea, there were obviously deer bedding in there now and getting scent in a bedding area is never good. You have to weigh how much intel you need vs damage done.
Now it will cost you about 15 to 20 grand for a good one but it will save you legs
Trees ? Thats dogbane nipped at tops ,,,,,,Thats some hungry deer eating that stuff
Brings up how late is too late to preseason scout a new area?
There is no perfect answer... Some areas the deer ate not there yet and wont be till close to time to hunt, is some areas the deer frequent the spot now and your doing damage... like I did. But you take a gamble sometimes cause spooking them 40 to 60 days b4 you hunt might be better than spooking them the day of the hunt cause you have to find a tree and a wrought.
yall must not have the snake presence that we have here in the south!
❤
Another great video dam
what Gumleaf boot are you using? Thanks Dan
In Gumleaf I prefered the Saxon boot... Not sure if you can still get that one as Gumleaf is going out of buisness and Arxus is taking over, both are great all rubber boots. In Arxus I prefer the Pioneer Nord... ARXUSUSA.COM use code Beast... You can see whats left of the Gumleaf boots at Gumleafusa.com
@@thehuntingbeast thanks brother.
@@thehuntingbeast thanks again
Vines and tangles, how you getting a shot off, or being scented
usually you have to get elevated in swamps and marshes cause the thick stuff is close to the ground. You can shoot over it... Pay attenrion to the wind and thermals
BBD!
❤❤
How are you crossing that pond and then hunting? Must be warm in September
Its still in the 70s in September
